From what I've seen in the Lore Chat, guns on Biesel are heavily restricted, probably due to riots that have happened regarding NanoTrasen and such.

Firearms are extremely restricted. I can't see it being legal to own any functioning, lethal weapons without quite a few background checks and certifications.

Of course, you're free to have one incognito; the Law can't catch everyone.

That is absurd, the Law is always on point. Crime never leaves its sight.

I can't say I agree with it an awful lot, but that's okay, I'll roll with the restrictions given the riots and such.

As an American who owns several firearms of the shotgun, rifle, and handgun variety, of various calibers, gauges, and models, I highly disagree with the whole full restriction of firearms. At the very least, some extensive background checks before being allowed to purchase handguns and rifles/shotguns, with restrictions on heavy weaponry or anything not ballistic, but complete bans? Shit son, that'd cause riots in and of itself.

Despite being british, with a dislike of civilian firearms, I agree with Rusty; I can see Biesel allowing certain weapons, as the original constitution of the colonists would have likely allowed for lethal land defence. It obviously wouldn't be America where you can walk around with an assault rifle and a combat shotgun, but I could easily see that they would allow certain calibres of pistols to evaluated people.

However, I think they would disallow energy weapons, as with ballistics, you can monitor and restrict ammunition retailers, energy weapons, on the other hand, can just be plugged into a wall socket, giving them far more potential to the aspiring mass murderer/ police killer.

firearms on Biesel seem really out of place. I'd assume they would be more trouble then it's worth too, i'd furter assume you'd be an automatic suspect in anything firearm related and overall isolated because i can't see many people on Biesel having weapons. Maybe even seen as a criminal, like some sort of gun tabboo. I'm slowly changing my mind if you make the guns a symbol of social outcasts, something clever like that

Earth, New Gibson, all the frontierlands...etc, that's where you move to have some good ol' fashioned gun fun, But on Biesel? I thought people move there to escape Earth and it's ways, not to re-create them

Since this is the future, police and SWAT armor might be actually bulletproof at this point, so I'd see ballistic weapons as being less and less of a threat. But energy weapons would pose a problem, and I could definitely see a new argument cropping up over the right to own them.

Also, only a tiny portion of gun owners (i.e. the complete utter fucking idiots) think it's okay to walk around with an assault rifle or shotgun out in the open. The rest of us realize it's really fucking stupid and only acts to provoke others (namely the police).

ok, but how do you explain the fact the armor onboard Aurora isn't bulletproof though?

And also, i don't think that very many people would consider a gun to represent a common threat to the police, moreso to everyday people who don't walk around with armor

I apologize for not being clear; let me try again with more elaboration.

As an American

ok

This is the gist of what I meant. They would be restricted, in that you had to pass background checks and receive a license for them. Energy weapons are controlled and not permitted to be legally owned by the civilian public unless they have some ~valid RP reason~ that makes them an exception.

I can't see a bunch of colonists emerging from a spaceship and wielding laser rifles and ballistic shotguns. The culture isn't there, lore-wise.
