the_furry Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I complain when there is a major problem that is killing roleplay. I still fail to understand how your roleplay was "killed" because a head refused to sign a waiver for you to bring genetic powers out of the lab. What exactly makes it essential for your character to walk around with telekinesis and x-ray vision every round? as i said, the complaint at chaz was meant to be minor because others had voiced their malcontent as well. What I was referring to when I said I complain about major problems was my lengthy complaint against delta and other security officers treatment of genetics.
Tenenza Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I see. A follow up question to TheFurry then: If the purpose of the complaint was to establish a concrete point of reference regarding Chaznoodles' off-putting interactions, which are apparently plural and off-puting to a number of people, how does a complaint against one very specific incident, which you yourself have admitted to be rather minor and better resolved ICly, accomplish this?

I’m sorry…are you asking me how starting a first complaint could be used as a reference point for later complaints? I mean…you have to start somewhere, right? At some point someone has to put in a first complaint before other complaints can use it as a reference point. That’s what it means to establish a reference point. Or are you asking me why I didn’t comment on the plural/off-putting nature that a number of people reported? That’s simple, I did not experience it myself. I didn’t think the administration would want me doing the “he said she said” drama by saying what I’ve heard he’s done from other people. Instead I opted to report only on direct instances of my experiences. I was leaving it to the other players that also have complaints to comment on their own experience. Unless you would prefer that I list things I’ve only heard in hearsay, I can do that too but generally administration doesn’t like it.

Valkrae Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Okay, so, neutral viewpoint time. In my eyes, both parties are putting way too much emotion and pre-bias into their posts, which is skewing the whole point of the complaint. My advice? Step back, write down your points in the simplest form, and let Tenenza take it from there.

the_furry Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Dodged the pertinent question. If his pertinent question was about genetics I chose to ignore it because it’s pretty irrelevant to this discussion. I never said genetics is essential to my rp, nor did I say a head not signing my paper kills me rp. I address the most pressing concern which was the misinterpretation of my text. He's asking you if you actually gave any thought to the OOC complaint you put out on Chaznoodles for IC conduct. There is nothing in his question that refers to ooc thought in writing that complaint. Are you sure that’s not a question that /you/ want to ask? If it is, the answer is yes. I put immense thought in most of my text especially complaints.

Unless you would prefer that I list things I’ve only heard in hearsay, I can do that too but generally administration doesn’t like it. Making a complaint about something you wouldn't normally consider complaint worthy, for the purpose of establishing for the record that said incident happened, is a rather aggressive stance to take. It's less of trying to point out an issue, and trying to have it rectified, then pointing something out because you assume that when they make a mistake in the future that your previously minor point can come back to bite them. It's an action done with the assumption that someone won't improve or better themselves. I can't claim to be entirely immune to doubting the ability of others to self-improve, but giving the benefit of the doubt is kinda an essential part of not being a dick yourself. I mean, you had an incident in which you felt that your enjoyment of the game was being compromised by someone else's actions. I think we've all been in places like that, on both sides of the situation. But I don't think anyone here actually wants to make anyone else's round unenjoyable. It's a game, and ultimately, we're all here because we do this for fun. Perhaps it might have been more reasonable to just talk to Chaznoodles, either in LOOC, or after the round, about how you felt their actions?

There was alot of factors, some personal others not, that went into me submitting the ooc complaint. Reflecting on it i do see how it was rather aggressive to escalate to a complaint so quickly and chaz does deserve an apology for that. I do regret how this esscilated so badly and my agressivly start did not help remedy the problem at hand. So for that i do apologize chaz.

Tenenza Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I guess I have one final question for you then, namely: In the future, when such events occur, how do you intend to respond and resolve them?
the_furry Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I guess I have one final question for you then, namely: In the future, when such events occur, how do you intend to respond and resolve them? Of course it will always depend on the situation. I'll save ooc complaints for more extreme concrete issues. If i run into an issue on the same level as chaz then ill ia it or submit an ic incident report or just ignore it depending on my mood. Only for more extreme situations will i do an ooc complaint.

Basically if im being spamed racism in such an unrealistic way with the player making dead taj joke, constant harassment over coms and in person. Basically if they are going "fuck all cats they all deserve to be gassed, heres afew dead taj jokes, go back to adhomi". And even then ill only submit a complaint if its not actually handled by the persons arrest. *edit* Arrest isn't nessasry, as long as its handled in a believable ic way; but i do think arrest and revoking coms to be a likely and believable way to hande it
