Reluctantly I post in Alberyk defense. The whole xeno concentration camp thing is quite boring for anyone that plays xeno. The moment I arrived on the station I was met with a security officer at arrivals I had the option to submit to mining (wooh fun rp) or resist and be arrested/probably killed for being a filthy xeno. Not exactly compelling options to interact with. Then the war was brought to auroras doorstep, xenos who where just moments before going to be sent to concentration camps now got to rp out which side they would work with. It provided a lot of interesting RP where we were helping the very security that fired us, protecting the civilians that tried protecting or hurting us. Made for pretty intriguing RP for a large amount of people. So honestly, I was kinda relieved to hear the ones that where about to start man hunting xenos are dealing with an assault force. Whether it justified to kill those guys or not I can't say. I can say it did create a large opportunity to RP a situation I've never seen before on aurora.

+1 every interaction i've had with this person has been enjoyable. even when they're murderinglizing/arresting me its solid RP. they also seem to have a good head for ordering about which head of staff need

Yeah I understand it, like I said I had forgotten that the CCIAA thing was permanent, I was under the impression it was a typical 6 week temp ban. Not a permanent ban with ability to appeal after 6 weeks. It was over a year ago after all, Honest mistake that I wont be making again. No engineering bip till after the appeal is resolved. Thanks for resolving this quickly.

Appealing Personnel: Biphen Isra Specific Incident: Trespassing and theft while attempting to save a friend who was spaced. He used the hand teleporter to try and locate a friend who had spaced themselves. Not understanding how the teleporter worked he found himself in the captains office and other places throughout the station. Action taken as a result: Removal out of engineering Action contested: Removal out of engineering Reasoning for contest: He always felt that his permanent removal was overly harsh as he has learned his lesson. Communication with the captain during the situation would have avoided the issue as he would have been granted permission to use such device had the captain been aware. He also appreciates the importance of security and protocol for authorization. HE was only attempting to save a friend he was worried about but he realizes now that even in doing so he must do so properly for the safety of the entire station. At this point he feels he will conduct himself as a professional engineer should and would really like to return to what he excels at. Additional notes: (ooc: the incident was over a year ago. I'd really like to play this character in it's fullest again. I was rather new to engineering back then and honestly didn't appreciate that just cause an engineer 'can' go anywhere they like, doesn't mean they are allowed)

Jackboot, considering I have even less faith in your ability to be unbiased than I have in hive, you having the last say in whitelists doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in the team XD. On a side note, lore question. How does one go about reporting taj to the PRA. Considering the past, Travis wouldn't hesitate to report housam for his gay activities (I remember nur). Unless your reconning to say he was never gay. It's funny it's only after others break the same lore you break that you care about the issue. Thought as lore master you'd want to be the example.

Considering I've seen at least three people receive that pm (I included) it's dubious to say "you would know if you were at full risk of losing your whitelist." Or at least losing a core charater you play. That on top of the fact hive is known to hover in ghost and ic just looking for a Taj acting out. I think it's safe to say there's very little faith in the lore team right now. Getting that pm, I can only assume I'm one of those players on hives prescription list. I've not once heard about what problems my charater actually have. So I'm just waiting till I sneeze one to many times for hive to come down and ship off my main charater to the gulag. At least that would give me an excuse to bring back Travis full swing, im sure we all want that.

Another suggestion is skull can get genetics code finished so we can just implement the entire lab back in. *hint hint nudge nudge puppy eyes*

oh yeah forgot the big one about protohumans. though the code its glitched and making protohumans needs to be fixed. I built the machine once and it didn't let me turn monkeys into humans (will probably be an easy fix though). but yeah, I really would like to see genetics expanded and return as a duel department but with something better than the powers that causes such an uproar. but that seems so in the distant future it makes me cry. till then i think this is a good temporary solution for fixing/doing things.

I think it would be a good idea to give medical the ability to treat genetic disorders and or changes, but exclude the ability to obtain powers. It would be a very simple change/addition. Don’t add the entire lab, don’t make an entire new subdepartment. Instead add the Dna scanner next to the modifier that’s already being used by the cloner, Should be simple, just move the window to the right by one and add the computer. Then Disable the superpowers out of genetics The reason for this, I’ve seen several times people who are just cloned are helpless cause they were randomly blind or deafened and thus go ssd as the cloning was pointless. Also useful whenever the changeling is having a bit too much fun with the mutation stinger and there is a line of safis that need s to have their body types changed back. All in all it would be a pretty simple change giving doctors more ability to treat without bringing forth the chucklefuckery that is genetics. This is also a temporary solution till you guys actually make genetics a thing, which from what i understand is way down the road...sadly

skulls separating genetics from medical? damn I liked the duality department thing. made genetics pretty interesting. though im surprised cause theres a good chance of random genetic issues poping up during cloneing. and cloning was a huge part of a geneticist job, made them relatable to the rest of the crew.

Can we implement this? the only modification I would suggest is after the 20min mark have an automatic pda message be sent to the head so they know to update the request if they still need someone.

I do like the idea of knowing what's needed rather than what's just empty before joining the server. it's always annoying when I join the round to realize half the station is vented and im gona be spending my round siting in a box waiting for engineers to fix everything cause i didn't come on as my engineer

Remove acid dispensers out of robotics and research. pretty straight forward, for the sake of interdepartmental communication remove these things. there's literally three different places they can get the acid on station (chemistry, xenobotany, and science outpost). someones bound to be able to help them and it would contribute to inter-department interaction. lately science has been so Isolated because each job can fend entirely for itself that very few people actually talk to eachother.

Apparently nothing of depth can be said here without it going over your head. Your the lore writer so let me dumb it down just for you. I don’t care that it’s conservative. I’m remarking on how boring a single-faceted and flat culture is. If the culture was entirely liberal and that’s all it was then from a lore perspective that culture is still boring as fuck, and easily ignorable. So this is not conservative vs liberal. I’m remarking that this is single-faceted, uninspired, and boring. Probably why so many tajara ignore the lore, there is no substance to it but a one faced gimmick (i.e. bad writing). The fact that I have to dumb down it down for you is what’s disappointing. @delta Did you get it now? or should I dumb it down again baby? If our lore is so terrible, boring, ignorable, uninspired and generally bad writing, could you please point the devs in the right direction? Provide an example of the 'good writing' in this 'conservative vs liberal' situation? Because, now, you're just calling the devs and their lore 'bad', you're free to get involved and make suggestions, as we're a community. I, personally, don't see a reason Adhomai, that's still engulfed in a civil war, wouldn't be pro-family (that's anti-gay, I guess?). If I were any goverment, I would encourage my citizens to start families and make kids, since adult males are dying at the battlefront. Being gay-ok just does not make any sense. If you read my op I gave several examples of real cultures that have depth to their understanding. But it was ignored and instead everyone just went with their simplified and untrue narrative that I’m just complaining about the tajara being conservative. The thing is, it /can/ be explained that homosexuality is not accepted. It can also be explained that it’s an exception to the normally conservative culture (I provided several examples of this happening in real life, so if you still think it doesn't make sense please refer to the real examples I provided). My biggest complaint is that the culture is so monotone that they are simple to understand. The entirety of the culture can be summed up with “they are conservative”. That’s what’s boring. If you can sum up the entirety of any culture in one sentence it makes for extremely plain lore. The same would be true if you could sum up the entire culture with the line “they are all really liberal.” @jackboot Insulted you? I’ve criticized your work and the lore that is being set. If you can’t take criticism for the lore your setting perhaps you shouldn’t be creating lore. I find your comment about starting to ignore me rich; you mean to say you weren’t ignoring me already? So I’m pretty impartial to the actual decision. I do think it’s a dumb move considering how it will effect a large population of the Tajaras players and it’s implemented in poor taste. But other than that I don’t really care. However, this makes for extremely boring Lore. Why? Because you have the chance to create lore for an entirely unique and distinct culture, and you can pull from cultures that span the entirety of history or create your own from parts of others yet with the vast amount of options available to you, what do you make? A boring single faceted communist conservative state; basically Russia circa 1900’s. Is your imagination so limited that you can’t come up with an explanation as to why there would be exceptions in a generally conservative culture? Being nothing but conservative makes this culture lack interesting depth which makes it less realistic. It’s actually pretty standard for cultures to be conservative in one avenue and liberal in another; even if overall the culture is mostly conservative. Take America, a country that holds paradoxical stances on nudity. Show one side boob on prime time TV and your show can be pulled, yet on magazine stands everywhere complete nudity is almost common place. On one hand breast feeding is viewed as controversial and on the other more revealing scant clothing is entirely normal (especially in the entertainment sector). On the issues of nudity America can be said to be very liberal at times and then surprisingly conservative in other instances. And in the example of the united states what is seemingly paradoxical actually has intent and meaning behind it; for example in womens/sociological studies there is comprehensive evidence that the country still pushes traditional gender roles with many double standards in favor of the male population. Women are socialized to feel inadequate for using minimal clothing (ie. slut shaming) and inadequate for being too modest (ie. Prude, boring). Both cases are possible because women are objectified under a male gaze considered to be the operational social standard. You see? Sociality is more complex than just “they are conservative”. Being conservative is just one stance a society can take on one issue. Good writing would reflect reality more closely by exploring the possibilities beyond a one faceted, one note, simplified depiction of society. Essentially, good writing goes beyond what you have written; which is boring to say the least but uninspired, reductive, amateurish and dull if I wanted to be less forgiving. Furthermore, during span of the Roman Empire the romans were heavily fascist, nationalistic, militaristic and yet sex and homosexuality was socially accepted as common place. To give another example in feudal Japan and in the military class (ie samurai) Bushido code [which was strictly followed] glorified same sex relationships as the purest form of love and encouraged homosexuality; that is the same feudal japan who was extremely conservative, xenophobic, hierarchical, strictly ritualistic and highly resilient to social reform. My point, which hopefully you are able to grasp, is that societies are complex phenomena that employ a myriad of explicit/implicit norms that come to exist for several unique reasons. So while it is true that societies can be like the one you’ve written, such a society is by no means the median permutation available of all the different ways that a society can develop, let alone a common development. The only reason your saying it doesn’t make sense for the Tajara culture to accept a few liberal notions is because you either incapable or unwilling to realize a more realistic or interesting lore. The monotone in your writing can be summed up simply by saying “think Russia”. Bravo. 10/10
