Forum option to disable avatar/signature images.

Note: I'm suggesting an option that anybody can either use or not use.

Just to explain very briefly, I'd like a functionality that allows me to disable images/gifs/any other flashy annoyances found in user avatars or signatures. That's it.

I do agree with this, as some avatars/gifs (most specifically the "ALL TAJARANS SHOULD HANG") is quite bad for my epilepsy.

It'd be helpful to have this.

Also some people have some really creepy Avatars (like mine and Taffys is looking pretty creepy, I can see that fox looking into my soul if I had one) But yeah it sounds like a good idea for those sensitive to flashing lights etc.

That, and my ISP likes to make bagels over the CPUs every other afternoon.

I'm down for this. Avatar images don't bother me, but the big-ass animations that some people feel the need to stick at the end of each post is just a distracting waste of screen space.

Unless I am misunderstanding what you're suggesting this does already exist for users to use in the forum options. If you go and look under your user control panel -> Board Preferences then on the left side is Edit Display Options. That one contains all the different display settings including display signatures, and display avatars, both can be toggled on or off.

Aw, sweet, thanks.

There's a user here that has a gif of the Manwhore, which is not entirely SFW and so I shrink a bit when I browse the forums at work.

I exist to make people slightly uncomfortable.

Only slightly.
