Just to explain very briefly, I'd like a functionality that allows me to disable images/gifs/any other flashy annoyances found in user avatars or signatures. That's it. Link to comment

If you go and look under your user control panel -> Board Preferences then on the left side is Edit Display Options. That one contains all the different display settings including display signatures, and display avatars, both can be toggled on or off. Link to comment
