New Machine: Blood Generator

I personally agree with the inter-departmental requirement. I don't know whether you find such degrading opinions about other departments to be attractive because it simulates some sort of bourgeois attitude towards the lower classes (I mean seriously, you make Cargonia and Botany sound like demonized Mexican immigrants), however I maintain the theory that if we perhaps made these departments more necessary and put more attention towards their actual mechanics we might decrease their alleged 'chucklefuckery' to the levels of perhaps science or lesbay.

All in all, forced interdepartmental interaction seems like the only way to spur this process and remove the ridiculous prejudice that the elite upper class of roleplayers is developing towards what they perceive to be the ungifted untouchables who are in actuality their own equals.

Hmm. I see what might be sort of a logic flaw here :|

The process being described in this thread is a long and elaborate one. Conversely, internal bleeding is a condition that happens rarely, and requires immediate attention.

Thus, there's really only two possible situations with this. Either nobody bothers to use the machine at all (because it's needed so little, and when it is, it isn't fast enough), or it becomes another part of medbay routine to set up, in which case I ask, what have we really gained?

Absolutely nothing.

don't forget that we have a machine in-game that supposedly poops out organs but it's almost never used as people without a limb or two don't usually survive anyway.

Still. The problem that that the first post is trying to solve here is the lack of blood in circulation here (sigh) as a resource.

I thiiiiiink we're going about this incorrectly. Can we try something simpler and more cost/time effective? Like being able to order filled bloodbags?

It probably wouldn't hurt to add it to the cargo list, though I do think blood drives are better than going to the cargo bay... and not as good as having a blood-generating machine.

And, actually, the machine that poops out organs only does organs, not limbs. Limb replacements aren't the most common thing I've seen, but in the dozen or so rounds I've played as a surgeon I've done a couple (and had one done on me once). On the other hand, I've yet to see anyone with an organ that needs replacing. Not saying it doesn't happen, just that I have yet to see it.

Internal bleeding, no, but it's not so common for surgery patients to have some blood loss as part of their symptoms. I generally just kick anyone with more than 70% blood out of the OR with an iron pill 'cause it's not worth wasting half a blood pack on them that I might need for someone in real danger. If we had a reliable supply, however, I'd be all for pumping blood into anyone who's short. Requiring reagents from botony wouldn't be especially reliable, but a beaker of chems from the chemlab and waiting for 10 minutes or so per pack filled would.

Cargo when you need a lot of blood.

The Mar-O-Mat when you need a little of a particular blood.

Donors when Cargo is breached and the botanist is a stoner.

Hydroponic nutriment plus chemistry iron would be acceptable to me but I really am against this being a chemistry-input-only machine.

Speaking of the organs;

Viscera-Vend

3D organ printer. Uses nutriment and animal protein slurry plus blood.

Re-Memberer

3D limb printer. Nutriment, animal protein, blood and milk. Bones need calcium!

All of which require a given time to produce their products.
