How long have you been playing on Aurora?:

Consistently, a couple months, maybe. I visited often when I played regularly over a year ago.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:

I have always favored my command characters as they were the most in-tune with who I am. I'm more comfortable in these roles/shoes, and I think that really comes through in interactions with my characters.

Why did you come to Aurora?:

Originally, simply because the server advertised to be RP heavy.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?:

I have, and I intend to read it 'til it's memorized.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

In my, by-no-means-an-expert, opinion, roleplay is a community coming together to create a universe and then simulate what kind of place this fanciful world could be. What it should be about differs so greatly person-to-person, it'd be nearly impossible for one definition. For me, it's enjoying being a part of a story unfolding in front of me that I can influence. I like that, when my characters meet someone, they are becoming another small strand on a large web.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

To help things progress, and ensure that their department is operating effectively. And, to ensure they aren't unknowingly harboring a fugitive, or someone that really should not attempt the occupation they find themselves in. To keep Baldie McStabspeeps from murdering half their department (in those rare events).

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

I pledge to never IC in the OOC. I will not reveal information about the round in progress that has the slightest chance of dampening someone's enjoyment of the round. If I am unsure whether or not to OOC it, I will not OOC it.

Addition: I will behave in a way respectful to all other players on the whitelist.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Julia Nicksow

Character age: 38

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Growing up with a military official for a father was the only reason Julia did not turn to a successful, albeit short-lived, life of crime. When her rebellious attitude would erupt, he was quick with an order for an obscene number of push-ups. Seeing that fighting was not going to win, Julia caved and accepted what her father had planned for her education, and a large chunk of her early life. After St. Bartholomew Military Academy, it was basic training. Shortly after, and many pulled strings, she found herself in an scholarship program for Health and Sentient Life Services, a degree from which would guarantee a choice from a number of Head of Personnel positions.

Julia excelled, but was not content to settle there. Using the new degree, she signed several stints with Nanotrasen as a Head of Personnel aboard varying stations; she was never very picky. Between shifts in Tau Ceti, Julia went back to school in the Sol system with help from military scholarships, and her father's "friends". It wasn't long before she earned her Certificate of Captaincy. Julia immediately accepted a job offer from Nanotrasen for an extended stay in Tau Ceti in the captain's seat. The assignment proved the perfect test for her. Her performance was rewarded by Nanotrasen, who extended an offer to sign a lifetime contract as an On-Call Captain. She signed so fast that she broke the pen.

What do you like about this character?:

Julia is very confident. She is aware of what she is capable of doing. She won't do anything without trying to read into the results and weighing the benefits. Often, she will choose that which provides the most benefit, but circumstances will determine if those receiving the benefit are the crew or the corporation. She is clever and can be quite snarky.

What do you dislike about this character?:

She can often have a very "black-and-white" kind of way of seeing things. This extends to her being cold to others. Sometimes, the fervent desire to see something to completion leads to aggravating dead-ends. Is not above putting a price estimate on an individual's life based on various factors.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:

Julia is intelligent, diligent and effective. On-duty, she is quite active in ensuring as much productivity, and as little waste, as possible. She knows how to get her point across without resorting to threats of punishment, or pulling rank. In tense situations, she is able to remain focused and, when appropriate, diffuse the situation. Her skills at escalating such situations are just as sharp.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:

Moderately entertaining, with room and desire to improve. I understand many of the Do's-and-Don'ts of RP. I always try to be beneficially inclusive with nearly everything I do.

Extra notes:

Been playing SS13 for years, now. Was admin on no less than 5 seperate stations, two of those overlapping. Wonders if anyone remembers him. Thanks you for reading.

I have seen XdwbX a few times ingame. All of those times I didn't see anything bad coming from their characters. Like how it was going. I would be fine with them getting the whitelist. Not really much else to say.

I'm going to start by saying, as I all too often do, that I don't really have enough IC interaction with your characters listed here. However, I believe I have interacted with you IC while in antag roles? Anyway, this application itself warranted my attention.

I like your style when it comes to the definition of role-playing and the OOC purpose of heads of staff. I often feel like just talking to another player's character for a significant amount of time alters their perception of the station as a whole, and almost always find myself looking for a head of staff whenever someone is acting strangely or being suspicious. As for the biography that you have provided, I feel that it indicates that you have a strong grasp on role-playing and story building. Julia feels like a well-developed character and I can easily imagine both her high and low points in a prospective career. Good luck with your application. You have my personal approval.

Thank you, Thesir. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

And, yeah, it's probably more likely that you've run into one of my antags. I've been getting a lot of those roles lately. I hope they're all fun for you.

Thank you, Gollee.

I had fun, too. Was nice to finally meet Inis IC for more than a few seconds. If only I acted much sooner.
