SierraKomodo Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 What it says on the tin. There's been many times where it'd be useful for the AI to be able to set alert levels through the communications console (Code green and blue), and there have been heads of staff that thought an AI could do this. Naturally an AI can't call code red since that requires two heads of staff to swipe; Only what the communications console would normally allow.
Lady_of_Ravens Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Oh yes please! I can't remember how many times I've had to explain that the AI can't set alert levels.
Guest Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I believe this has been a topic of debate at one point, regarding whether the AI should be permitted to macromanage station operations instead of command doing it.
Skull132 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I honestly don't even remember the concerns against this. Anyone got any? The AI can already do pretty much anything else, so why not? Specially since it's expected to be lawbound.
Guest Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Personally, not really. In the instance of a lack of command staff I'd be fine with them escalating the alert level. Otherwise, they most certainly should inquire with command first just for the sake of manners.
LordFowl Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 One might say that the AI lacks the authority to discern an emergency, only a threat. I would say setting it to code blue would be fine though. To be honest, I was pretty sure they had this feature, you just had to log onto the communications console to do it. Maybe I've just had an epidemic of Heads that forget to log out.
