Hartburry
BYOND Key: Hartburry Character Names: Eddie Clark is the only one who people will recognize How long have you been playing on Aurora: I started around last June but was busy with school so I had to slow down for a bit but now I have much more spare time. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, twice Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Kocasslani present a new challenge for me roleplaying wise. My previous character Eddie Clark was very easy; he was a young person in over his head with Nanotrasen command. I played him as a typical white collar corporate ladder climber. Eddie was diplomatic and always trying to please, a Kocasslani is the opposite. Kocasslani rely on emotion to thrive, whether it is their practically fanatical devotion to their religion or the strict gender laws in the race with men and women having clearly defined roles in society. From a young age Kocasslani are thrown into a culture with many different spoken and unspoken rules, this I assume would put intense psychological pressure to conform and fit in. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Humans are devoted to diversity Kocasslani are devoted to conformity. In the world of Space Station 13 the human race has completely absorbed itself into the space age. They have splintered into thousands of different cultural groups, however the Kocasslani have not. Whether it is through The Blooding or their Burns of Feality Kocasslani never forget where they come from and who they are. Discovering space only strengthened the unity of the Kocasslani, scientifically speaking the chances of the Kocasslani discovering 12 different planets very similar to their own would be close to 0%. However 12 different planets were found, whether this is a stroke of great luck or perhaps divine intervention doesn't matter, the Kocasslani's faith was reaffirmed. They truly live in the Holy Land. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I have two primary reasons, I want to be a part of expanding/supporting this server's custom lore and I also want to play a more emotionally driven character than Eddie Clark which I believe I will find in this race (I detailed the evidence why up above). Playing a good Kocasslani mean more than telling every Skrell you see to go space themselves. It means that you need to become your emotions. You need to decide what you value in life and then stick to it. A Kocasslani would keep his friends incredibly close and would hate his enemies with a passion. That is the kind of player I want to try next, also I think think the dialect of never using contractions is pretty cool and you could do some cool things with your characters speech. Character Name: Kiklisani Visilini Kiisni (referred to by the crew mainly as some form of Kik or Kikli) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs (Note: I will refer to him as Kik for simplicities sake) Kik is a strange one, raised by his mother as a girl he was taught Science (which is frowned upon in mainstream Kocasslani culture). His father died before he was born. His mother's took solace in the fact that she could pass on her vast knowledge of Science to her soon to be born daughter however she gave birth to a boy. This pushed her past the edge, Kik's mother lied to him and made him believe that he was a women. It was until he had matured that he became aware of his mother's deception. This realization combined with the rejection from mainstream Kocasslani culture because of his knowledge of science isolated him. The only thing that hadn't abandoned him was science. Turning his back on society Kik became enthralled with the study of life and technology. He has a dream of one day morphing technology and organic life into one perfect life form. Kik also is deeply religious. Despite being a man of science Kik is also deeply religous, he has developed a close personal bond with religion and tries to blend his study of technology with prayer. Before experimenting you can oftentimes see Kik consulting with the gods or reading the Blood Book, he believes that the gods gave us life for us to discover and that you cannot truly be a Walker without attempting to learn all of the miracles of the world. Kik studied by himself for many years, however he realized that in order to learn about all of the creatures of the universe he needed to explore. He believed that his next step was to study humans. Hitching a ride with Smugglers Kik left his homeworld and traveled to Sol. It was there where he signed up with Nanotrasen as a researcher. He has however had trouble adjusting to the loose Human society, between having his religion frowned upon and being forced to interact with the Skrell (whom he blames for his fathers death) Kik has had a rough start to life with other cultures. What do you like about this character? Kik is a character who at the start I will be playing as a somewhat recluse, however I plan to naturally progress him and help him acquire some close friends. I also am excited to have im interact with the Chaplain and certain civilians especially the skrell. Also it will be interesting having him interact with other Kocasslani because of his choice to become a Scientist, these tensions will let me have an interesting round full of character development which I felt that I lacked with Eddie Clark. How would you rate your role-playing ability? C+ on a good day but I am developing. I think that I just need to play more until my characters finally click with me and I am able to fully engross myself in my character. Notes: Another thing I am eager to try out is learning how to express my distaste for Skrell players without having to resort to harassment that will end up in a physical altercation. Also I plan to play Kik primarily as a Xenobiologist or a Geneticist. However he might end up doing some work as a plain Scientist. Fuck the Skrell Link to comment
Guest
We're in the process of removing Kocasslani from our lore. It was determined not to be appropriate for NSS Aurora any longer and the people who still have their Kocasslani whitelists rarely play at all. Link to comment
Hartburry
Would there be any possibility of me still being allowed to play one? I was really excited to try it out and I think I have a couple great ideas for roleplaying situations on the station. Also custom races are awesome. Link to comment
Guest
Unfortunately they were recently declared a hostile race. You'd have to speak with Tablespoon or Skull about it. Link to comment
Skull132
The Kocasslani have been, effective today, discarded as a race available to the players outside of events. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will make sure that the information will be made available. And something else new might be in the works, at some point. Link to comment
