Skull132 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 It will be dealt with, but it will not be dealt with as an aside to this complaint. We are not in the business of punishing people without actual incidents or review of said incidents. As it stands, the decision was made without any such review. To do so would set a precedence beyond your wildest dreams: the staff can ban anyone because "They feel like it."

Instead, you decided to spark a precedence that's almost as bad as one you imply: the staff can chose to ignore anyone because "They feel like it."

Instead, you decided to spark a precedence that's almost as bad as one you imply: the staff can chose to ignore anyone because "They feel like it." That would be true, if we closed this deal, brushed our hands clean, and moved on. I have no such desires. The admins and I will go over the complaints referenced by Delta. And I will listen to the points presented by my staff, as I already did. If the judgement of the complaints is considered erroneous in retrospect, then Alberyk will be put on thin ice. This is mostly because turning a "No action" into punishment after the conclusion of a complaint is something we do in most extreme circumstances. There are plenty of cases, involving both staff and normal players, where this mentality has been adhered to. If further incidents, without a finalized decision, are found and assessed as breaking the rules, then the punishment will be reapplied, full stop.
Guest Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Sounds well enough, I suppose, other than my own experience telling me that rethoric like this usually leads the Staff to conclude that X did nothing wrong. All the while X has received a complaint after a complaint, while the staff have dismissed every one of these complaints because they couldn't fit into the current ruleset. One the other hand, I empathize. The more people push you, the less you can allow yourself to give in to their demands. Because, of course, that would be mob rule. However, the mob may have a point occasionally, even thought there are inharently blatant dangers to listening to them.
Skull132 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Complaint after complaint is not always an issue. It is unwise to not pay attention to such trends, yes, but it is just as unwise to make a decision for the arbitrary reason of, "People complained about you." My intention is to go over the complaints in question, review the incidents and context, and then draw a conclusion of whether or not said actions were permitted under the rules (both in writing and in the spirit of). The admins and mods have a meeting scheduled for this Saturday to discuss other things. If I cannot arrange something sooner, due to work and timezones, then I'll nab them before/after said meeting. My intent is to have the actions described done by the end of the week.
Filthyfrankster Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 So uh how about that staff meeting? or is it clearly not happening anymore and we should just lock this complaint? :^)
Skull132 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Actually, it did happen, and this complaint was discussed right before that with Delta. The consensus reached with Delta was this: [4.03.2016 21:45:53] Skull132: Any thoughts, or would you wish to hear my proposal? [4.03.2016 21:49:31] OneOneThreeEight: Go ahead. [4.03.2016 21:53:52] Skull132: Since the complaint itself is with regards to a specific incident, and, as far as my understanding of our current conversation goes, none of the actions taken by any parties within this specific incident violated any of the rules, I would like to close the complaint and effectively rule it as not applicable. However. I recognize that tangentially related to it is a complaint against the general staff (effectively a staff complaint calling into question the rulings of previous player complaints against him). As such, you may either open a staff complaint on that count as a sticky note/reminder for us to solve this, or simply wait until the admins conclude the meeting tomorrow and start putting into whatever plan of action we come up with. Since you are an involved party, and all involved parties must be made aware of actions taken with regards to a situation, we would have to inform you of that plan of action. [4.03.2016 21:54:19] Skull132: "Him" being Alberyk. [4.03.2016 21:54:32] OneOneThreeEight: Works for me. TL;DR: in this specific case, the use of force was valid. And the roleplay had by Sue was also valid. While we would rather not see suicide dramas like this on a daily basis, one decently RP-d out suicide drama is not grounds for a kneejerk. Also note that the use of violence is valid, if the roleplay around it makes it reasonable. In this case, someone close to Yinzr had died, and he wanted her cloned. Ergo, the escalation from pleading to bribing to physical intimidation is fair game. This complaint in specific is deemed as invalid, and now resolved. The admin meeting hinted at in this discussion was had according to the dates, and we went over the actions of Alberyk. Also discussed them with him. At that point, the weekend ended and I was needed at work. So the situation has been stalled until my shifts were done. I will post a more detailed description of what the admin's thoughts on the Alberyk as a sec-lizard situation were in this thread tomorrow. And we'll use that as a basis on deciding how we wish to resolve that situation. Tangentially related to that whole fiasco is this one, here. Which I also stopped processing for the same reason I stopped processing this one, but will get onto with Hive, as I only work 2 days this week. (Some partial actions were already taken by Tenenza, following the meeting.) Long story short, having a job sucks when it requires 12 hours per day, as I really can't be arsed to deal with the server afterwards. Unless it's super critical. and until I get around to figuring out which admins to promote, there are a few issues where my involvement is required. Anyways, since actions for this complaint are done, I'll be closing and archiving this.
