Zundy Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Naturally not an actual printed paper, I was thinking more of a mental imprint a Vaurca might receive upon uploading to the hive? Less tabloid and more 'these are the facts serf' and more alien like. Hell, throw in some of THIS to denote the hive literally uploading how the Vaurca would feel about the subject. For a brief example: Zo'ra Hive Information Network Glory to Zo'ra Hive and the High Queen, do your duty without question. Glory to Zo'ra Hive Enemy Hive Ze'Kai was offically captured Friday 04 March 2458 at 12:32pm Joy Total deaths of enemy warriors number two hundred. Glory to Zo'ra Hive Names not recorded. Total deaths of Zo'ra warriors number one hundred and five. Sorrow, Glory to Zo'ra Hive Names available in Hive Network. Enemy Hive Ze'Kai Queen slain Joy and replaced with loyalist Zo'ra Queen. Enemy Hive Ze'Kai offically Client Hive. Glory to Zo'ra Hive Client Hive Ze'kai set to mine materials to replenish war effort. Joy, Glory to Zo'ra Hive Thoughts?
CakeIsOssim Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 The Vaurcae government systems aren't these guys: I imagine it would be straight forward, no bullshit, though. Just without all the "this is how you will feel about it," because all Vaurca should feel that way about it anyway. They're a hivemind, bred to love who they were born to, bound and unbound alike. There's also the issue of ensuring people who aren't Vaurca don't read about stuff like that on the forum, join as a character, and be like "so I read your hive conquered another hive, good job buggy." Other than that, I like this.
Mofo1995 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I like this idea a lot. A pragmatic and straight forward report on the events of hives would be a really interesting take on journalism coming from the hive minds, and the example seems absolutely fascinating despite how simple it is.
ChevalierMalFet Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Maybe this is just my own personal take, but I don't really view the Vaurca as being, well, blokes like that. I mean, the Bound, sure, but they have no reason to know anything about the wider world than what they're doing. As for the Unbound, I imagine them as being - well-read, if that makes anything. That they wouldn't buy into Daily Mail journalism. I mean, obviously the egotism would still be there, but the Unbound are intelligentsia; they aren't dummies.
Zundy Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 I imagine it would be straight forward, no bullshit, though. Just without all the "this is how you will feel about it," because all Vaurca should feel that way about it anyway. Fair, I'd imagine the all Vaucra should be feeling joy and pride etc and take what's written as gospel; just thought it might be fun to throw in a bit of a 1984 twist as afterall the hive literally does tell them how to think, bound and unbound alike. There's also the issue of ensuring people who aren't Vaurca don't read about stuff like that on the forum, join as a character, and be like "so I read your hive conquered another hive, good job buggy." Other than that, I like this. I'd say that's using OOC knowledge IC, I'd just LOOC advise them that they'd have to physically mesh with the Hive Network to know that. On the other hand, maybe they do know about what's going on with the Vaucra to a degree for whatever reason. Just thought it'd be nice for the Vaurca players to have and for other people to read. I read the other news posts that have no relevance to my characters whatsoever (hell, they wouldn't even read the Adhomai Chronicle or the Warble).
Guest Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I like the idea in generally. A data-dump style would be most appropriate since it is suppose to be informative, not entertaining in any way. Telling you what happened and what to think.
