Guest Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Alright, you nerds. Almost a month ago, I got approval to make a writing contest for all you military and tech enthusiasts. The contest basically requires you to design a weapon, a ships system, a drug, experimental AI, whatever... that Sol may be interested in adding to their arsenal. The details and the posting thread can be found here, Writing Contest - Sol Tech under the Lore Questions subforum (due to the lack of a proper subforum for this). The deadline, when I will be passing through the best (likely with a few more people or maybe a vote) will be somewhere around two weeks or more. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here. Else, enjoy and good luck. ----IMPORTANT---- Alright, so, after giving it a thought, I've decided some form of material (digital) reward wouldn't be too bad. Once the period for writing is over, which will be around my birthday in three weeks, I'll have a look through all the apps (with someone) and reward the winning writer with a steam game of their choice (within reason, because I'm poor). If you think your current app is lacking in any way, feel free to change it or make more! I guess there is really nothing you really need to focus on, but I personally think clarity and volume are important. Edited April 13, 2016 by Guest Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) This is me because no one's shown interest to post. Edited April 5, 2016 by Guest Quote
Lucychan42 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I think there was one submission. School and band have been blindsiding me so I haven't had time to do much. I'll try to think up and write down my submission soon. Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Ohh, no, I'm not forcing anyone, I'm just trying to guilt-trip people into posting. Quote
Killerhurtz Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Boka, I've been busy. Expect... 3? 4? posts from me by Friday. Quote
UnknownMurder Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I... Uh... Go tell Itzal or a LOREMASTER to host the contest or uh... I already have a story planned out in case this happens... And there will be a prize...? So... Good luck. Quote
Rusty Shackleford Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I am most certainly going to hop onboard this. Just need to set aside some time... Quote
Guest Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 No worries, I'll push the deadline forward a bit. It's not like we are going anywhere. Quote

UnknownMurder Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Unfortunately, my story doesn't fit with your topic, I was believing that we would be able to write whatever story we want. I'm going to have to sit out. Quote
DaBurs Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Writing up something right now. Edit: Finished. What a fun two hours. Quote
Guest Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 A subtle reminder that there is one more week to post. If you write something gud, you may get a free steam game. Quote
Killerhurtz Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Contest's over! Posting in the owl's stead: So, after reading through all of them with Killerhurtz and Jboy, I've decided upon the winners. Sadly, due to the forum ban and actual lack of patience, I'm not providing any feedback at this time. 1. D.A.M.O.C.L.E.S (Gollee) - Winner. The idea, while not especially innovative, seems to have the most actual solid utility out of all designs, and won by majority preference. These will now be utilized as colonial defenses across the frontier. 2. SHAMASH (Killerhurtz) - Second place. High utility, versatile and practical solution to the need for role-centric firearm. Nothing like a laser sniper rifle, laser carbine and a laser pistol all in one. 3. Controllable Synthetic Virus (Xzinic) - Gets points for being interesting, although it has some major flaws, namely the fact that Gray Goo is a known extinction scenario and some other. But, it is nanotech. Sol Alliance would likely be interested in furthering the research and developing less... suicidal methods of military utilization. Well, with that, thank you 7 people that participated. Gollee gets a free steam game. Quote
