  1. "Even if Nanotrasen does span the entire galaxy or a large portion of it, the employees available for events such as this should be available. With all due respect, allotting everyone to cover Ms. Trasen's trips in Sol isn't the greatest plan. I cannot accurately gauge or understand the amount of logistics that goes into such events, but an expectation I have is that Nanotrasen is able to employ a sufficient number of operatives and agents to be able to cover such things, given the nature of Bluespace Engines as well as the vast amount of citizens and agents that Nanotrasen should, in theory, have available to them to ensure that they are able to cover such tragedies. As for the second reply... that is greatly unfortunate. I cannot cast blame in the understanding that I do realize the logistics of having to retrieve DNA backups and set appointments to ensure the security and integrity of these backups so that they can be utilized in the future. While it is available to cast blame in it happening in the first place, it is my own desire to cast thanks and understanding that Nanotrasen has learned and is working within their resources to amend the DNA banks and have high ranking staff renewed. It... pains me that she had delayed them so often, to realize she is truly gone, but in the end the only thing I can find is the desire to eventually move on in the realization that it will not change, no matter what I feel of it. If I may ask, what security was available aboard the shuttle Amnesty Lund was on? What was available to prevent the tragedy, should it have been ruled as foul play? I understand if you must be vague, but a simple "we cannot explain" is... it does not give me a sense of security in the ability of Nanotrasen to protect its highest employees if an entity such as the ALA was able to successfully accomplish this task."
  2. Aerianna was dressed in a modest uniform, representing her status as a CMO and one of the command staff on rotation aboard the NSS Exodus. She had her hair done back and proper, with a soft, blank expression being the only view into her emotions on the matter, the rest of her kept proper and clean and presentable. "It is... in my curiosity why Nanotrasen has been delayed in giving this response. It has been nearly a week and a half for any official response to be given when a CCIA agent, one that was well recognized, was deceased in a tragedy that still there are few answers for. I don't expect the investigation to be complete, but everything has been left and feels so vague, so uncertain that no black box files have been analyzed, that everything seems as if even one of the higher members in Nanotrasen being killed, it is still uncertain if it was an accident or if it was foul play. I do not mean to publicly doubt the company I serve, but I wish to ask how such a thing like this could happen, for a response so late and for answers that seem so far away. And how she could not be cloned. I am aware of what the Vaurca have done. Is there no system in place to replace the lost data and technology? I would not be surprised if lower workers did not have access to such a luxury as DNA backups, but to have a recognized CCIA operative be wiped from the world, unrecoverable, is a jarring event in my eyes. Has Nanotrasen made plans or taken action in preventing something like this happening, has it taken this tragedy for them to realize this, or will they not be putting forth the resources to fund such an opportunity? Those are the questions that have been on my mind, as well as many other personal matters that have concerned me. Thank you for your time."
  3. I've definitely interacted with her cyborgs and they've been pretty radical. As well, interactions with their human characters have been nice, so I'd have to say this application has my support. The backstory is nice, and I agree with PoZe in that while it's a common backstory, it's also one that's refined. I think there's a point when snowflake doesn't really have any weight because people use it like "cuck" and in the end it loses a majority of its meaning. Regardless, I trust Jessica can break that. They can make a backstory that's interesting but also have a character that meets standards and also creates a fun RP environment in their interactions. +1
  4. Do take care, sorry if it's just become more hostile. I've personally been enjoying my own mini-hiatus, it's nice to just step back from the toxicity and to just not care or be bothered with it. Best of luck to you.
  5. Aerianna taps away and signs in, exhausted and perhaps a bit drunk. She had questions, many questions on her mind that she couldn't understand, ones she didn't know how to ask. It couldn't be true, could it? She sighed as she tidied herself up however she could, sending a message. "They're just rumors, right? You can't be gone, it just wouldn't make sense that someone like you could be gone. I mean, a shuttle crash? Surely you have cloning, how could a crash happen, anyways? You have to be okay... you have to. I understand if there's a little delay. You must be a busy woman. I just don't understand how someone like you could be gone."
  6. As for what Garnascus said, I'm frankly not surprised and that's why I was so hesitant to do this. I spoke to a moderator about this, even, wanting to be absolutely sure that this would have some traction and I was told that yes, I should at least give it a try and stand up to behavior like this, but if nothing is going to happen then my pessimist is rewarded yet again. I won't name the moderator I spoke to unless they want to interject in this thread, but I was informed that I would at least have some traction. It's... disappointing if not so much as a warning can be given out or at least some discussion with the players about behaving a bit better. The only arguments that have been used is "well I have thicker skin and can handle abuse", well, when someone says they're uncomfortable or upset when people are targetting them or their situation, it should stop. Should people stop if one person is like "hey stop talking about this" but it isn't directly related to them? Probably not, unless it's some deliberately controversial subject meant to get under someone's skin, in which case it's far more likely that multiple people will be asking for it to stop. I'm well aware that this behavior has always and will always be considered "haha that's just banter, just get a thicker skin or leave OOC", which just partially exiles the player because now they can't communicate with the community unless they're on the forums. Sure, the characters interact, but I think with how much people yell it, we're all well aware that the characters aren't the people who play them. Personally, I'm more focused on the second part of my complaint. The first part I'm very, very well aware everyone thinks it's just banter save for just a few people because who wants to punish someone for being cruel as a joke? But the second part, some line has to be drawn somewhere, Garnascus, or even just staff in general. There has to be a point where if someone has said in looc to stop, they should stop harassing and laughing at their situation. If someone has asked for this ghost crowd to stop, then it should stop. I don't think that's unreasonable. I think it's reasonable for warnings to be given out for behavior like this when it's clearly expressed that the individual they're targeting is not fond of it. There's a time when banter has just become bullying, and just because everyone else is laughing, if everyone is laughing at one person or their situation, is it really any different than bullying? It's not banter at that point anymore when it's all directed at one person. People skirt around by directing it at one topic and then people inevitably get offended if they pick one "juicy" enough. I just think that there should be a line drawn between bullying and banter, and when that difference is made, it should actually mean something. The first half, sure, it's banter, I won't argue it because I know it's banter to a lot of people. But the second half is not banter in the end. It's people mocking someone's situation after repeated requests for them to stop as well as repeated statements that they're being cruel or messed up. That's not banter when it gets to the point of continuing after the person being targeted has said enough is enough.
  7. In all honesty, I'm of the belief that it was just one or two people complaining and whining with such a scattering of shitposting that the intent was that they could say their point with such sarcasm nobody could tell who was serious or not anymore. It's a bit of a joke that they can just act so unruly and ridiculous that they hit some sort of... just had the word, some sort of limit where they can say whatever they very well please and then they're not taken seriously and people just laugh at how silly they're being. I don't think it should really permit people to say things like that or jump at people if they act so ridiculous that it could just be considered senseless banner. There's a time and place for jokes and the issue I have is that people seem to cross the line of a joke and go into genuinely upsetting or attacking people because either 1. there's so much bullcrap going on that nobody thinks anyone is being serious so inevitably someone's upset or 2. they think it's hilarious and just keep going and write it off as meaningless banner and say they were the first case. That's the point. It's not a gunfight, hell, if I was being hyped up when Hsshsthishtshs was in Medbay fighting I would've hyped with them! That was exciting, it was intense, I pulled a guy out of the firefight, gave him medical treatment, ran to the bar, that was fun! I would've hyped back, I would've been like "HECK YEAH!" or "nope! He ain't gonna get me! 2robust4u" or some other crap. I get that! High intensity situations can be fun to hype and heck it's cool to know there's a crowd when you're doing something cool. But torture? There's a line that needs to be drawn. When people are actively hyping up you having to roleplay going through psychological hell to the point you have to ghost or you'll just flip, there's a problem. She did end up ghosting because she just lost it and didn't want to deal with anymore. And this was with the belief that she would be punished for it; it had gotten to such insanity that she would've rather accepted consequences than have to deal with another moment of being taunted OOC and tortured IC. It's... frankly not okay, that should not be okay to do. Even roleplaying through torture can be pretty mentally intense if you're not playing some hardass who can't be hurt. Playing a character who would properly respond to being tortured is a bit draining, and while I won't oppose to torture in proper context or as an antagonist action, I'm heavily against the looc cheer team that was making an already stressful situation even worse. I mean, I'm not asking for permabans. Again, I just want something to be done about this because this behavior should frankly be considered disgusting and at least worth of investigation, if nothing else. A warning, some new clause in the server rules about this or that, something would be nice. After sleeping on it, the first part of my complaint is sort of just people whining and bantering and honestly I'd be more than happy with a warning about the whining and maybe a bit of a "hey don't be a jerk" regarding them harassing Jessica. I'm more concerned about the second part of my complaint (and, interestingly, Jessica is the player of Cassie), where I genuinely believe that such behavior should not be acceptable when someone has already expressed they're uncomfortable or upset. If someone is having a bad day and you're laughing and trying to do jokes and they say "shut up", you shut up, you don't keep making the jokes or even make it worse. If someone is having a bad day and they're taking it in stride and laughing with you then yes, keep making jokes. But when enough is enough, people need to recognize that. Basic empathy is not a hard skill at all, and she wasn't being difficult about it. She openly stated she was uncomfortable with the replies, telling people to stop, saying they're "fucked up", and openly expressing that she was not at all happy with the situation. It's not hard to realize that enough is enough at that point, and I feel something should be done regarding people understanding that concept.
  8. BYOND Key: Crazytoast42 Player Byond Key: Chaznoodles/LemonTheFruit ; Hazecole1, Kvasir Staff involved: IncognitoJesus, NursieKitty Reason for complaint: In honesty, I don't know if this is going to go anywhere. It just feels right to at least put this here and see what happens. It doesn't feel right to stay quiet about it when it's bothered me and bothered other people. A lot happened that round and I know another complaint is up about events that transpired, and well, this is my side of it, and a side I want to present and for something to be done about it. I'm not asking for mass permabans, that'd be insane and frankly not what I even want. I just want something to be done, warnings, new rules set (ex: don't be cruel as a "joke" if they're not your chum-pal-buddy-friend), tempbans, something. Chaz/Lemon https://gyazo.com/839a98e7216632d98b8b72fc678a0534 https://gyazo.com/a171729534a3e807ac644c0e1a27472b (Order is lost after this, it was a long conversation and Gyazo jumbled them up.) https://gyazo.com/1cfe5ca3317567540420a2405beb171e https://gyazo.com/08be01817a326d247fb672e9f98d73e0 https://gyazo.com/0044d581a8e797d4099d70d8c5e34980 https://gyazo.com/03a357509c5fcf374a3a2e0733f29246 https://gyazo.com/2b5ac3f185ca58a61f16d7b5c42b4d9a https://gyazo.com/47972f306f9397e810c965f32743d0d7 https://gyazo.com/05404067d256de622e701e1fbadb4c4b https://gyazo.com/bfac087a0072dde07ddb1d38e54e4d4c https://gyazo.com/38492cb8a14cb87ecdf997294d349692 https://gyazo.com/2d499187253b2b9e2656cc8d822d1a73 https://gyazo.com/61125af222b5da17ed943e17fc76c1d5 It seems a bit much to be, well, mocking someone for being genuinely upset about something. It's an attitude that I really feel the server needs less of. People have emotions, people get offended, if the response of people when offense is taken is to do their best to offend more, then something in fundamentally wrong with the behavior here. I dunno, it's sort of the same thing I said a while ago. It doesn't seem unreasonable to ask or request that a standard be held that people, at the very least, be nice to each other? I mean hey, people whining about lesbay and I got irritated, that was one thing. But Jessica expressing that she was upset and then the players actively trying to make it worse? And then even going into a tirade and criticizing the server in OOC without a care in the world? I mean, it's fine if staff aren't upset or offended by being criticized, I know the staff there probably just took it with a smug smile and dismissed it, but the issue with what they said to Jessica is what I want to be considered. There should be a standard to where enough is enough and it's not a joke anymore. I don't think that's unreasonable to request. Haze/Kvasir For the second half of the complaint: https://gyazo.com/3323f5e55abce15c53a68214b720c883 https://gyazo.com/7a40616fbe81ddc9e6e30a4c7e608db6 https://gyazo.com/2f7e44d0c142cff4b64ad7b460dba057 https://gyazo.com/d0f9f4dbbcfe1bd4de605976df2d6222 https://gyazo.com/ae6e4bca530416ba01e7fbeaba749688 I just don't think it should be acceptable to do this. In context, Cheeky had captured Cassie and was basically making her his little torture fun time toy. I don't know why he did that but that isn't the point of this complaint. The point is that people were in ghost and following this around and harassing/taunting/laughing at her in looc. They were breaking through and talking to her OOCly, taunting her and laughing at her predicament in looc so that she could see their banter as her character was being tortured for an extended period of time (30-45 minutes). I feel there should be a line drawn. They crossed whatever line could be drawn because I don't think any circumstance would permit or warrant ghost/observers to cheer on an antag torture session in looc. The OOC player was obviously upset and voiced their frustration and grief (too strong of a word but sue me) with the situation yet they continued to do so. Those links are all in chronological order in how they progressed, as well, so they present it as it happened. As stated, I feel a line has been crossed when ghosts are using looc to cheer on an antagonist as they tortured someone else's character. There's still a sort of connection of being forced to sit through, roleplay, and emote someone that's being tortured and isn't some tough "heh is that all you got?" character. It's a bit draining in my experience, and to have your situation laughed at, mocked, or otherwise observed as entertainment isn't going to put you in a good mood when you've already stopped having fun. I'm not saying the torture is bad, go ahead and be whatever weird antagonist you want to be. But the looc cheering definitely crossed a line, especially when it continued when the player expressed discomfort/distaste. There's going to be more logs from that round from others and I wholesomely expect people to use logs of when I lost it and shouted at them. I don't... care. I just want something to be done. I just want to do something more than yell and try to get through to people that genuinely don't care what I have to say. And I understand that. So I'm coming here to see what staff will do; that entire round was a mess and if nothing came of that round but "eh, just banter" then I... dunno. I dunno what I'll think, but I'll be disheartened at the very least. Approximate Date/Time: 5/31/16 10:30 PM - 12:20 AM Central Time Zone (GMT -6)
  9. Jessica Stark IC and OOC is pretty rad bananas so I've gotta say they definitely have my +1. I'd like to see more IPCs even though there's a ton of them, because I know Jessica would play one wonderfully.
  10. Gotta say I wish I could say something unique but everyone already said it. This guy is amazing at what he does and knows what he's doing. He's definitely on the ball with chemistry and knows how to keep it going and stocked like a well oiled machine. If you need meds he either has them already made or can make them in a minute or less. Dedication and this guy is definitely fun to be around and RP with. Lucas is a great character and I'd be more than happy to give this dude my +1.
  11. I'm in the same boat as ArcBot. He's one of the security people I feel safer around and I trust him quite well to do his job. As well, he's pretty awesome OOC and roleplays quite well. He's certainly one of the more memorable people on this server and I would happily give my +1 once the issue has been fixed.
  12. I swear I thought you were already kittybeast! I'm more than delighted to have my support for this, you're an excellent roleplayer and my interactions with your characters have always been memorable. As well, you're a very memorable person OOC and you're trustworthy (plus you're a mod). So totally +1.
  13. For what it's worth, the issue is that he's done it for two years and has done the same thing over and over and over again with no improvement or regards for anyone expressing frustration or anger with him. There's "he's just dicking around" and "he's just a dick", and there's "he has utterly no regard for anyone who's upset and, when presented with the opportunity, will attack and try to trigger or upset someone who expresses any manner f discomfort to what they're doing." The moment Brightdawn expressed they were thin or concerned about Rusty attacking them, Rusty immediately began to verbally harass them with whatever means they could, throwing a verity of insults at them and trying to provoke them into responding further. That's not okay. Frankly, that behavior should be far from tolerated especially if this guy has been at it for two years with the same old crap with a stack of warnings, a handful of bans, and no signs of him ever considering to change his ways. I haven't been attacked by Rusty and I believe in second chances and leniency if someone improves, but Rusty has shown he hasn't, and won't. Second, third, fourth chances have been given. In my eyes, he had multiple chances, and this situation shows that he really, really does not care and will not improve and will only continue to find people with weaker skin and attack them.
  14. BYOND key: Crazytoast42 Character names: Aerianna Blackthorne, Tel’Elaru Rosaria, Mahara Kur’Yer How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Two months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've been waiting for it but now I feel it would be my best chance to apply and be on a command position. I've already done some work commanding and helping people when we're in a time of need. Why did you come to Aurora?: Didn't have anywhere else to go for RP. I have a long life story about that but I'll spare the details. A player that isn't active anymore showed me Aurora and it's been wonderful to have something like this again. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yeah, CMO. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role play is the act of playing someone else, getting into the mind of another character and acting them out. You roleplay to develop a new persona and see how they interact with others. Some people hone this in and have fairly constrained characters while some do things even the player wouldn't have considered; it's all a matter of the character itself and how the player wants to roleplay. It's exciting to see the different interactions between characters and see how personalities can vary from even the same player going into their characters. As well, role play is the fun of having these people interact and seeing what results come of their daily affairs. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To keep everything organized is basically what I imagine any head of staff is primarily tasked with. They're receiving the most information out of anyone in their department and even information that may be relevant to future affairs but not immediately concerning (such as the RD mentioning something that may need medical or security aid soon). The Heads of Staff can keep everything organized and help everyone keep their bearings in a stressful situation, or at the very least stay at their posts and perform to the best of their ability. With them, it's less of a free for all of trying to perform tasks. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players should set the example of how to perform the whitelist they've been added to. A Tajaran should actually act like one, as should a Skrell or really any race, as well as for command positions. A Head of Staff should perform their task in a way that is not only beneficial but possibly inspiring to other players in or out of their field. It doesn't have to always be so amazing that it’s life changing and causes someone to OOCly quit drinking but an example should be set to an extent where people would eagerly desire to be at that level if not higher. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Aerianna Blackthorne Character age: 30 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): She was born in a Martian city, raised in the Sol system. Her life in her early years were far from the highlight of the life she's lived now. She was social, friendly, though for some years she went through periods of crippling depression and seclusion. Her teen years were the harshest, with the turmoil of hormones and emotions she faced a struggle with herself rather than with the world. It was some time before she was formally diagnosed with BPD and medicated for her anxiety and paranoia stemming from the disorder. As she got treatment, her life was back on track. She had plans for the future and saw herself in the medical field from a very early age and she wasn't about to let anything steer her from that path. With hard work and dedication, she was able to earn her degree and go into medical school, where she interned as a nurse. Things were going well for her, though a tragic accident is what changed her fate. Aboard the NSS Canis Minor, she worked as a nursing intern in between hours of study and education. One shift changed her when a fire broke out, spreading quickly for unknown reasons. Official records consider it a tragic accident, but regardless of the reason, Aerianna was left scarred permanently. Her arm was damaged beyond repair and was amputated and her face had been severely burned. Her eyes, in kind words, were rendered useless by the fire. After a year of recovery she had been treated but not unmarked by the fire. Burn scars still mark her face and her glowing blue eyes and prosthetic arm are a constant reminder of the incident. While cliche, she rose from the ashes of this incident, continuing her education and her work. While a year delayed, she was able to make off with her PhD in Medicine as well as a few years of internship under her wing. With this new chance for life, she found employment at the NSS Exodus, determined to do aid others and utilize her medical training to keep a safe environment for her workers and to rescue those that were harmed. What do you like about this character?: Charismatic and talented. I'll never forget the round where she had quite well been caught by a HoS for enthralling all of Medical, but she managed to convince everyone the HoS was crazy and was released. She knows what she's doing and she's very in touch with people in general; she strikes me as a fairly empathetic person. She's made a handful of friends and she's become a memorable person to others for her behavior (for better or for worse) and seems to have the respect or at least recognition of several others in command positions. What do you dislike about this character?: Probably her emotions, even if I do like them sometimes. They make her a bit realistic that she reacts or stresses the hell out, but they are meant to be excessive at times due to her mental state. While they make her a bit more in depth as a character, at times I worry how others perceive it. Also her bionic arm and eyes, EMPs can effectively put her out of a round since she can't do many medical tasks when she's blind and has one arm. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She's performed as interim CMO on multiple occasions, worn the coat and all, as well Honorary Captain. She performed well under these circumstances, I feel, and did her best to ensure medical was working as well as it could. She works well with helping people learn and she gets snappy when she has to. She has quite a bit of knowledge in most of medical and only is unaware of certain chemicals which can frankly be fixed with a cheat sheet notepad. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 8/10, certainly. I can disconnect from my characters and I feel there's still some room for improving variety and reactions, but for the most part I feel confident in my abilities. Extra notes: I'm probably only going for CMO. Maybe if I ever go outside of medical I'll still take a while to adjust to the new department and get my character adjusted into the atmosphere of the station before immediately jumping in with them.
  15. I sent you a PM cause I really don't wanna start this up again, cause last time this went into discussion mode three people died and five were hospitalized from the ensuing flame war. I would actually invite a mod to lock this thread if they would like to; the discussion here has been had.
  16. It would've been better if I had an indication the game had started at all. I joined in and next thing I knew I was booted because I forgot one day. Which really sucks because I was super excited =(
  17. I was kicked for inactivity because I didn't think it would start yesterday. Absolutely fantastic, I didn't wait several days for it to start just to get booted because I had prom and then didn't realize it had already started :/ Can't even take over the AI again. Sigh. Have fun I guess this is... stupid. I dunno.
  18. I heard there was room for an incestuous lady cat? In all seriousness I'm curious about it; I've been looking for something cool to do with my Taj whitelist. What's the family like and all that? And would I be expected to be a certain job?
  19. Vox cannot be cloned. I've even tried before, just doesn't work.
  20. I've always interpreted a MIF meaning that the machine couldn't successfully copy their neural state and memories, meaning the clone wouldn't be perfect. Back ups are another story, but I always assumed the medical technology available does have a way of mapping neural pathways and recognizing states of individual glial cells. Or something! It just made sense to me that there's tech that just handles that already.
  21. The wonderful tones of her character are thought out and fleshed out to such an extent that the only thoughts I can have about her is the big smile I get on my face when I see her on the list. Sunny is such a wonderful, cute, ditzy character, and Bright is a wonderful player. Certainly talented in roleplay of any variety, and has my full support in being accepted onto this whitelist. +1
  22. I'm delighted whenever I see Nanako Magojiro on the roster, as it's helpful to know there's someone who knows what they're doing alongside me. I've had to run a few rounds where I was teaching EMTs how to mix Tricordrazine in a beaker while performing surgery and goodness if that isn't scary then I don't know what is, cause that brute damage wasn't gonna go away. Point being, it's nice to have someone who's there helping me out, and she's a wonderful help. She has my +1, even if it's overshadowed by other concerns so far. And I like a bit of stubbornness, too; there's a point of never backing down, but also one of being confident. I've done that IC more than enough, just having a head to where I'm adamant that I have to save someone, that I won't give up, and that's an attitude that has saved lives on my end. There are definitely situations where it becomes worse, but in a medical setting, it's a good idea to have that mindset of "this is going to work one way or another."
  23. My point wasn't that lesbay was offensive. Shout it for all it matters, I use chucklefuck regularly in conversations with online friends now. The issue isn't that these slang terms exist, and that was lost in the firestorm that was those past four pages which is why I stopped posting entirely. The entire point was the hostility behind the people who perpetuated these slang terms. That lesbay became a personal, cheap, simple way to criticize someone, like much of our language today. Instead of "heh, there's no way you would" some say "bet!" Lesbay has become something similar for a few people. I won't assume the exact meaning but it's become something that isn't a joke anymore. It's become this annoying gag that some people take to fairly constant means and it becomes grating. And that isn't even all of the issue. People not contributing, not helping, I felt sorry for Nanako but I appreciated the people who helped and have advice for her to get better and I'm positive she'll improve and get better. That isn't what worried me. What made it bothersome was people who just interjected with "frankly this is just snowflake material and you're not ready for CMO/CE". And it's a tiring thing watching it persist in the sense that respect degrades until everything is a joke or just a direct insult. Senpai put it exactly how I wish I had. "However, there are certain members of the community that turn criticism into a personal attack, and a lot of what they say they know will be taken personally but they dance around justifications or how it's directed to the character and not the person." It's become so much of that it's become aggravating. It happens so often that the line between a jest, true cruelty, anger, it all melts away because it just becomes a mess. It seems hard to differentiate and hell I'll go ahead and lay out yeah. I have a hard time with that. I have psych shit going on that I won't go into but it's hard to tell the difference at times when people pretend they aren't being rude but they are or if they're just joking or if it's actually a mean joke. And that's a mess typing out and it's worse in my head trying to pick it all out. By all means I didn't mean it to flare up like that, but perhaps I should've seen it coming. "In the futility of unilaterally fighting community hostility, your avenues are like I said - ignore it or lobby for firmer rules." As for that, that's sort of what I was trying. I ignored it for a while but it genuinely started to bother me, so I wanted to just lay out "hey this isn't cool" and yeah, I got more involved than that. But my desire was for action or change and some of that did happen. But in the end, it made a mess, so I do apologize to everyone involved. Just didn't want to keep it to myself when it was something I felt was genuinely bothersome. In the future, I'll just vent to pals or something if it's just gonna be like that. Just had a bit of optimism blinded by frustration and faith that it would've resolved differently than that.
  24. The argument has just devolved into everyone saying "it's just a game bro". So I don't see where else I can go with it where anyone will actually say something intelligent or at the very least unique. If being someone other than some meme-spouting idiot to each other is difficult and/or declaring that anyone who's bothered is overreacting is all that will come of any further discussion, then I'm not entirely sure what else to say, because I can't exactly convince anyone that it matters if they're set in the belief that it doesn't. You don't get any credit because you're just parroting off "you're both pretty" until we stop because this argument has to involve you in some way.
  25. The issue is the adamant stance that you and others seem to have in that it's necessary to continue to laugh and joke about this in a constant loop, over and over again. Like its the most hilarious thing to diminish someone else's character because they don't meet your standards of being someone bland or so absurdly unique they don't fit into any niche you have. It's fine to have expectations and standards but it's cruel to harass people for fitting any narrative that you and your pals set as worthy of being criticized. Frankly, trivializing a sexuality isn't going to make anything better. Trivializing characters and pretending they're the most cliche thing to happen isn't going to make anything better. Trivializing the reactions people have to your constant critiques or insults won't improve anything either. Rather, your insistence on maintaining your narrative of "oh they're gay characters they're just lesbay lol" or "oh they're shy lol so cliche". And goodness I'm not even exaggerating because you poked fun at a new player on the forums, and I assume the possibility that you're not chum and buddy with them? And that's the thing. You do this to everyone. You don't joke with your pals and laugh by yourselves. You target others and mock or scorn them and get your laughs from continuing your complete stereotyping of a sexuality based on some bizarre belief of a very specific fallacy of a character. And frankly that doesn't fly with me and I doubt people outside of your circle find it as hilarious to hear your ramblings about lesbay.
