Conservatron
Now, we've all had the experience where we get grabbed, headset stripped off, and then killed. I'm not saying make this impossible, i'm saying we should force a bit more strategy on this. The headset unit is a speaker earpiece combo, removing it from the head would obviously remove the earpiece from use, but the speaker would still be functional. I say let us use the headset if its on the SAME tile as us, and broadcast as if you were two tiles away and overhear a whisper to account for the speaker distance from the mouth. so like, headset on head, fully functional headset on floor below you, can't hear, broken broadcast headset anywhere else, doesn't work Link to comment
Zundy
The issue with this is that the headset isn't always on. It's more a 'push to talk' affair, hence why it doesn't just activate when you speak. I largely against the idea of the headset picking up sound in the general area due to personal experience I.E people immediately shouting for help when held up by an antag with a gun to name a few. There's a reason not many antagonists take hostages. It's the whole if we give them a second they might just immediately call for Security. I don't agree with headset use on the ground at all. If you don't want to be immediately killed by antagonists change your held up meta. I don't know about you but my characters value their life, and if you tell them to get to the ground and stay quiet, they will. That's not to say I won't take the time to try to call for help if I'm presented with an opportunity. Link to comment
