Nanako
But you drink vodka in STALKER to cure radiation. I like the reference. Give it to both if you like, i'd support that. but don't take it away from vodka Link to comment
Jboy2000000
Vodka was actually handed out to Chernobyl survivors because it was said that vodka helped strengthen their thyroids against radiation. I don't know about the validity of that, but, it might also actually be a thing. Link to comment
Zundy
I-I mean, we all know neither of those things does anything for you and was merely a way to calm folk down a la duck and cover? R-right? Link to comment
Jboy2000000
I actually did some research on this. And surprisingly, YES, both red wine and Vodka are good for drips into radiation. Red Wine contains small amounts of strontium 85, and if you're going into a place where strontium 90 was used, your body with absorb the less harmful strontium 85 before all the dangerous radiation. Something similar with vodka. Alcohol saturates the blood, and like how alcohol makes it harder to transport oxygen, so will it slow down the transport of radioactive isotopes in your bloodstream. Nikov
The idea vodka saturates your blood and slows down the transport of radioactive isotopes is only effective if you go full Slav and spend your entire exposure to radiation hammered to the floor. I mean, I really doubt its any more than a Stalker game mechanic and an excuse to get radiation survivors drunk instead of dying while sober. Furthermore vodka's effect would be applied to all the alcohols, including red wine, which itself would only grow more powerful. Link to comment
Brightdawn
This is a game with Wizards, the alien from alien, clowns that are all psychotic murderers, a soup that makes you less hungry if you wish really hard and John Carpenters the thing. I could make it so red wine heals minor damage to the heart, because ya' know its good for the heart and all but if we're going full realism we'll be removing / a lot/. Link to comment

It should only heal damage if the damage is already under a certain value (like 3) Link to comment
Nikov
Trouble is red wine actually helps with radiation poisoning, while its not useful if you're having a heart attack. Link to comment

Yes but we also already have that Drink It'd be better to build new effects based on other propertys making the drinks unique than to keep recycling the same use over and over again. Red wine /is/ good for the heart not many other drinks can claim that, so use that. Link to comment
Nikov
Which is why I want vodka's removed and put on red wine, since red wine has an actual theraputic effect, where the vodka order for Chernobyl was snake oil. Vodka's gimmick can be your hair matting into an ushanka for all I care. Link to comment

I dunno vodka is more of a refrences to games like stalker than anything, it just seems like a reeeeeally petty thing to get up in arms about. Anyway I've said what I need/want to say!
