Writing acronyms in what's supposed to be a representation of spoken words, seems even moreso. And nobody types out the full title most of the time. 'Head of Security' just plain does not work. If you don't want people to use commander, suggest a third option Firstly, that's exactly what they are, a head of staff. Not a naval officer, not a soldier, but a head of a department aboard a corporate station. Secondly, look at one of the best examples. CEO. Chief Executive Officer. I'd be willing you bet you a fair number of people don't even know what 'CEO' stands for. Yet it is the most common way to say the position. HoS is also used more often than you'd think.
