HouseOfSynth
BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: Harry Wells (RD/Scientist), Alister McLaggen (HoP/Captain), Remus Avardy (Engineer/CE), Sirius Rayner (Nursing Intern (for now)), Phineas Falco (Sec' Cadet (for now)), J.A.S.P.E.R (borg) and T.R.A.V.I.S (AI) Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Ash Grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have indeed Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have been playing a while now, and am still experimenting with different ways of roleplay and such. I have always loved Tajarans as a race and find them extremely interesting. I love how they speak in third all the time and roll the 'r' sound and think it would give a great new aspect to playing the game. It would allow me to explore a whole new world of RP and experiment in more ways. It would also test my roleplaying skills as they are a whole new species that (as stated below) require me to know about their lore and such. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well the Tajarans are a whole new species, meaning they take a different form of RP and are more difficult to RP due to the fact you are playing a species that you pretty much cannot relate to in real life (unless you count cats, but Tajarans are not cats.. sort of). Unlike humans, which are easier to relate to (mainly because you are one). This means you have to learn about Tajaran history, how they think and feel about certain situations.. And having to deal with racists (personally I think racism between species makes the RP even better) This means more thought has to go into your RP and you have to actively remember that you cannot just play as you would take sitiuations, you would have to play how a Tajaran takes situations. Character Name: Ikrad Yam'hir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ikrad's childhood was what you would expect of any child Tajaran. He admired his parents as every child does. His mother was a nurse and his father worked as an engineer. He was only 12 when the revolutions and war began; And when the revolution picked up to full pace and both of his parents were called to aid in the war. His mother was called to nurse wounded soldiers and his father was called to work engineering duties that would help the cause... One year later his father was killed in the war. He and his mother were impacted with alot of sadness although they had no time to grieve. His mother was forced to work longer, harsher hours and eventually could not care for Ikrad any longer. She sent him away on the refugee shuttle and Ikrad found himself in the Tau Ceti system. He was then transported to Biesel, to carry on with his education. Getting good grades in engineering and IT related subjects he sought an engineering career just like his father. He finished his education with qualifications in engineering and has applied to work upon the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character? Ikrad, although emotionally scarred, is a caring and kind Tajaran, he will work to the best of his abilities and will offer help whenever he can. He can deal with minor racism although over time it can get under his skin a little. He knows how tough life can get and is very mature. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say a 7 or 8/10, my RP does fluctuate depending on my mood and mainly how tired I am. Notes: Do forgive me if I make any mistakes backstory/lore-wise.. If you see any I would really appreciate it if you point it out to me via commenting or telling me in OOC on the server. Link to comment
DatBerry
You didn't even mention which side his father fought for, all we know is there was a revolution and bam, he left it all in the past. The lore involvement is so lacking its as if you didnt even read it, we have no idea what kind of tajara he even is. Lore aside, character is lacking, all he ever did was "get good grades" i dont see any pointers to his personality at all, he never took any actions on his own or interacted with anyone, might as well ship a toy off adhomai and say it was a great success in the market. Just my two cents. Ill keep it to a neutral now, if you can improve the story and character a bit ill 1+ it, doesn't need to be a snowflake, just a little bit of flavor, all i see is a stale piece of bread. Oh and, our tajara lore dev already made a thread about backstories lacking in conflict lore, any application heading towards the "space refugee" character will be denied, app characters are there to make sure the player has sufficient lore knowledge. NebulaFlare
The war is very recent in Tajaran history. He wouldn't have enough time to be influenced by its effects, then travel all the way to Biesel, get into prominent schooling, get good grades, and graduate as a full-fledged station engineer. That takes a great deal of time and effort. At most, I'd see him getting lucky and landing an apprenticeship, especially if he was brand new to the field. Link to comment

That depends on which war he's referring to: https://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tajara#The_Uprisings (I did poke Hive regarding the dates being a bit mixed up, and now he's talking of possibly changing things around, but we're gonna go off the current lore). Assuming the first civil war started in '21 and ended in '25, that gives 33 years from the end of the war for all of that to occur. Link to comment
hivefleetchicken
This application is denied pretty much for the reasons stated above. Leaving Adhomai is seen as cowardly, and is even a reason for you to be hunted down if you don't do it with the PRA's blessing. Link to comment
