BYOND Key: Pyrociraptor

Character Names: Helmut Kronigernischultz, Emmerich Mullerizoschulizt, Stanislas von Kurgebergst, ,PyroBOT (various Version), Hanz Velderbigrzest, Jonathan Joleculington.

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): IPC

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Totally.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

In any game I played, I alway enjoyed playing and roleplaying a Robot,Synthetic, etc... Or is it just because I love metalwork, engineering and electronical work, so an IPC is something I really love. And in RPG universe, I alway been someone more into Future/Space RP than medieval, and IPCs stick with my "universe".

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Not only different from human, but from all other species, as we're talking about a species created by another species. In term of RP, a small missing wire in their boards, or even a board overheating may cause what appear to be small damages, but will end up making the robotic fellas dangerous. Even for "peaceful" IPCs, a broken circuit may override the safety protocols, completly changing their behaviour. In term of Game mechanic, IPCs may be simple to fix (Either some wires or just a welder, or Nanopastes if R&D isn't asleep), and more resistant to some forms of damage, they are balanced by the fact that an EMP will make their positronic brain (or MMI) overheat to the point it would explode.

Character Name: Explorator

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

(( Thanks a lot to Coalf for helping me redact that thing.))

3.8.2443, [REDACTED] is created by two good friends living on the frontier, all they had was a shitty rented ship and an idea of exploration.

You see these fellas eventually managed to get a little family of three, rich enough to set up a mining bussiness and desperate enough to hire them and bring them with their five workes unharmed and unrobbed onto a certain asteroid on the frontier, well somehow they managed to do that barely, the ship managed to break on landing so the two had to stay and try and get that ship moving, of course the family was happy to lend a few of their workers to help with their repairs after they got them on the asteroid unharmed.

Not a week later and the family struck metaphorical gold, so the two lads decided up the amount of money they wanted for the job from a simple 10 000 credits to a full blown 120 000 credit deal, the family refused.

Now a two years later [REDACTED] has plenty of customers paying them double of that old deal, their ship is top of the line and thanks to the income from their Asteroid mining bussiness they managed to get to the top, still not big and famous but with a specialized clientela that not a lot of companies work with, settlers, miners, explorers, adventurers and hunters, to bring them safe and unharmed onto their dreamed destination and show them around or find a good and safe spot for them to build, of course the two of them couldn’t manage such deals, so they started recruiting workes, mostly native survivors from the planets they explored but sometimes moons or asteroids don’t have oxygen and thus, Explorator was created, an advanced Bespoken IPC with the directive to explore the said terrestrial body and bring back any survival data, pictures or shiny things that could be usefull. Thus skilled in survival, cooking, skinning, general exploration and xenobotany/biology the IPC became a favorite in the firm, bringing back animal pelts, live speciments, precious metals and certain artifacts from civilizations perhaps long gone, his masters never asked about them, they just sold them, and he didn’t care he had to explore.

9 years of full on service to the company, eventually Explorator was introduced to someone new, Exploring Joe, a brand new model custom built just for this firm, extremely expensive, and expensively extreme, the unit was massive filled to the brim with locators, scanner and other things Explorator never knew could be fitted inside such a robot.

His co-workers turned on Exploring Joe just so he could have a talk with Explorator, he was excited he never talked to another IPC before, of course this IPC was very big and answered with weirdly structured answers, sometimes it repeated itself but he didn’t mind finally someone was talking to him, it even called him sir a few times and the only thing that the co-workers did was just point and laugh whenever Explorator talked about having a buddy to explore with. A week and Explorator got a new job, he was quite excited to explore together with the new unit, as per usual his creators dropped him off, but this time they forgot to give him additional batteries or tools, but he didn’t mind he could have made his own tools, he waited for his new friend to be dropped but instead the ship just flew away, he shrugged time to explore.

And he explored a day, and then another and another, he didn’t need any tools so far this asteroid was quite small and flat, alteast he calculated it was an asteroid, he was pretty sure he walked around it, but still nobody came, well he would have plenty of time to draw the map of the asteroid into the sand.

After the sixth day Explorator decided to go into hybernation as his battery hit critical levels.

Another year later, a NanoTrasen scientific shuttle, usually only interested in things included in Biesel space found itself here, they were not supposed to be here but their leader Queblac Tap was not known for safe decisions, their locator picked up a high level metal deposit concentrated in a very specific area on this asteroid, it HAD to be something interesting and worth their time, her crew was disgruntled already as they avoided pirates and authorities multiple times, finally as they landed they found a scripture in the ground of some unknown origin, Queblac was extatic this meant her career was going to skyrocket, she quickly shooed her crew to cover as much ground as they could to try and find and other signs of civilization.

Queblac could not belive her eyes, an IPC, a stupid piece of shit scrap metal was standing right there in their charging station, mocking her, everything she and her „crew“ did was for naught, all they found was some kind of outdated IPC model, she alteast hoped it would be intelligent but it was a bespoken scrap, she fumed with rage as her crew watched her scared, she was yelling in Skrellian cursing every name she could remember that was involved in making of the first AI, in her rage she grabbed a pick and started walking to the IPC ready to do what she was supposed to do.

Now, in 2458, Explorator serves aboard the NSS Exodus, brought into NT service by the new head of the Frontier exploration team Thomas Manning he has been nothing but a good asset, with his knowledge of foreign bodies he is a quite skilled miner and thanks to his previous explorational and analyzing experience he is fully allowed to work in Xenoarcheology, of course he’s not allowed to perceive any other scientific interests due to his more hands on approach. He serves happy, unaware of the fact that he could be paid for this, he has a little room with a charger on Biesel owned by NanoTrasen, but he spends little time there most of the time he’s out exploring, of course a lot of people stop him nad question him about where he comes from, who he serves and if he wants to be free, he simply shakes his head, shows them his NanoTrasen ID and continues on his way, sometimes they rant he never got why he was supposed to be free he wanted to explore, ownership of things was a foreign concept for him, of course he had a shovel a few times but he put it away when he didn’t need it, why would he need money if he can’t use it for anything now? And freedom, he had plenty of that, Biesel was so far the biggest jungle, he ever explored.

What do you like about this character? The fact that Explorator is pretty naive but also curious is what I like. Him being naive about the world give a new perspective (As for example, he simply know he's been created to work, and know that not doing his work properly result in being scrapped. And that belief will make him think that every dead persons has been "terminated" because they simply didn't do their job.) He's more of an optimistic type of IPC, as even when abondonned on the asteroid, he kept exploring, thinking he could still find something new. (For those that know a bit about French Litterature, this character is inspired from "Candide.")

How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10.

Notes: I really hope the story don't look far-fetched.

As Pyrociraptor said himself I helped him a bit with the backstory, since he saw I am the greatest IPC player to walk this earth B^).

But in all srsnes Pyro is a good roleplayer, sometimes breaking his cool when dealing with bullshitters but we all do that, his characters are all in all entertaining even if the accent can get a bit annoying.

But being able to talk to him about Explorator was what really tipped me towards me wanting him to be an IPC, as he himself understands what it means to be a Bespoken IPC something not many people can do right, even I didn't want to create a Bespoken IPC since I knew I'd often break character, but Pyro seems to have the character perfectly lined up, he knows what to expect from that character and how to act in situations that character would encounter and how to react to them.

Although this +1 isn't coming free, as I want to say a few things, first decide if you ACTUALLY want to play an IPC, a lot of people might be getting influenced by the Antag Contest thinking oh shit opression is cool but remember, Everyone is going to give you shit, Space is not your friend and suit ain't gonna help you without a cooling unit, you are giving up the privilige to inject yourself with 20 units of bicaridine and being back to full health in a few minutes and most importantly, that EMP dud that shit is pretty frustrating.

So yeah in the end I'm giving you a +1, but please, pleease let it go through your head first if you actually want to become an IPC not only for the RP, lore and such but also for the game mechanics, since in the end those are part of the character too.

So yeah +1 from me and a long rant to boot.

Hello! Sorry for the delay.

You have positive feedback and a good understanding of what our IPC models are so I'll be glad to accept this application!
