Rethinking Freeform Antagonism and "Heavy Roleplay"

Weekly events are doomed to fail. Too much activity and investment required from staff, we'd have to hire more folks. (Which we won't.) Even if pulled off, they'll end up as mundane sooner rather than later. Or worse, turn into, "WATCH ME BE SPECIAL!" type shite. I much prefer the, "Have a lore-driven story arc every half a year or so." Which we've been doing since antag contest meme I.

We're also looking to add more out-there meme roles, pseudo antagonists and event characters, accessible to players/whitelisted players. Which would allow folks to drive their own story or what have you.

Weekly events would burn out the staff very, very quickly. Even with my bursts of ADHD energy I can't sustain something so labor intensive for so long. What Skull said above applies. We build a greater lore arc in the background that hopefully impacts the station in different ways, which results in an event or situation where antagonists push the station down some narrative path.

More whitelisted roles would be another way of doing things, but I believe that to fully defeat the mundane we would be HIGHLY served with more maps and locations to have our settings. Away missions, basically. Obviously that's an equal amount of work from mappers, but spawning everyone in varied locations lets us unfold a lot more different stories.

On a middle ground, unfolding the lore arcs but giving each antagonists their own objectives and goals to achieve for X duration of time would also be great. We can work on giving more structure to antagonists.

Yo I love aurora and even I get burned out quick now.

Topic has shifted substantially since start, but maybe have a big red message for antags that players may have secret info set for their characters. Dunno how many times I've had a sympathetic if not active supporter of the antag get killed because 'oh I forgot that existed'

Also encourage more players to come to the forums, I don't post much but I usually check at least once a day and they're very slow for a server that has like 60+ active at any given time I join.

Not sure if those really relate to topic at hand though
