[1 Dismissal] Gimmick List Thingy

Have a list (That can be added to via the WI) of gimmicks for each antag type. If a player ingame can't think of a gimmick (for merc/heist etc), then they can hit the button a few times and get some ideas.

Players would be able to add their own ofc so it doesn't get stale. This might get some rounds moving better when people can't come up with their own gimmick (which happens p/ frequently)

Literally just suggested this in my other suggestion, ban this man.

On a serious note, I'm all for this. I think a big, obvious link should also be available in the roundstart text for antags. It solves the problems of antags having difficulty coming up with gimmicks, while still allowing creative players to use their own, fresh gimmicks.

I'd work on this if it existed.

Some example gimmicks (for gamemodes that arent in the game yet, but you get the general gist of it):

Monster hunters: Merc+ling+vampire: The mercenaries are monster hunters, who have tracked the lings and the vampire to the station. Their goal is to exterminate this threat, and they aren't gonna take any chances: collateral damage is acceptable. Will the station work with the mercs and destroy the lings+vampires, despite the brutality and overkill methods of the mercs? Or will the desperate security force enlist one of the more "peaceful" lings/vampires to combat the mercenary threat?

Synthetic Sympathizers: Rev+malf: The revolutionaries are an anti-synthetic organization, and want to destroy/ban all artificial life on the station. Will the AI be able to trick command staff long enough that it can eliminate the revolutionaries? Or will command staff discover the AI's secret, side with the revs, and destroy it once and for all? How far will each side go to achieve their goal? Can a compromise be reached?

Thinning the Veil: vamp+wiz+cult: The barrier between the veil and the real world is weak here, attracting all types of magical entities seeking to harness it's power for it's own goals. However, all these magical creatures despise each other, and would see themselves the only rulers of this source of power. Who will the crew ally with? Will the vampires come out of the shadows, and proclaim themselves the grim lords of this station? Will the wizard recruit an undead army, or perhaps an apprentice, to grow his power? Will the cult gather a following of crewmembers scared by the other powers at work?

Quantity vs Quality: Ninja+heist: The raiders have looted a spider clan weapon, and incurred the wrath of their finest warriors. In their cunning, the Ninja decided to wait until the raiders were on another heist, so that he could strike at their weakest... However, the raiders are not fools themselves, and will frame the ninja as the villain. Who will the station believe? Will the ninja be overwhelmed, or will superior skill and technology prevail?

I know but suggestions are one per thread so I made it so that it doesn't get overlooked

I still think this suggestion would help antags a LOT, and save a lot of the less creative people some trouble when struggling in aooc to find a good gimmick, when they have a list of solid gimmicks right there in their antag text.

And i really love writing antag gimmicks, so I'd greatly enjoy contributing to this page.

I like this idea a lot, not because I can't come up with my own gimmicks (I do a lot), but for a couple of other reasons.

1) Group antags (mercs and raiders, especially) sometimes have trouble agreeing to a gimmick. You get a really pushy player wanting to do a gimmick that other people don't really want to do or think is bad, and they keep pushing. I think a list like this would be great for those situations since instead of just having to kinda be mean and be like "your gimmick sucks" you could just say "when we can't agree on a gimmick, we pick one from this list or roll a die". Would be a handy tool, and speed things along.

2) Newer players who are just starting to antag often need some ideas, this solves that pretty well.

3) It could lead to a very creative repository that I think would grow pretty quickly with great ideas and combination ideas that might have some real gold.

4) Being kind of aware of some of the gimmicks people might be trying could be educational for never-antag types who main security and command, to see what to expect and allow some breathing room for the round to grow. Those guys that insta-search-arrest a wizard visitor might be a little easier to reason with if you can point them to a list of wizard gimmicks and see that a (for bad example) doctor who inspired gimmick might really be what the guy's going for and fireballs for everyone isn't on the agenda.
