  1. +1 Just played a round with them They immediatly took charge of the situation and made me think they were a veteran command player. They also did not jump the Gun, there was a situation which warranted an arrest but they took it slow and escalated magnificently. The Character is well acted and believable. I do get Limette's OOC concern as the character itself is very harsh. A real stick in the mud and that can be played without the sentencing beeing a reflection of that but other than that I am positive that this player nails all other aspects of command they have a great way about organising multiple departments, taking charge of medical in lieue of a CMO missing and not making it feel forced for example They play a competent assertive crewmember and I 100% believe their role Very well done.
  2. +1 DasFox is a mainstay on the server and i just played a round with them The attention to detail on their RP is immense and the way they acted a command member was convincing and well executed.
  3. +1 Just played with them for the First time. I assumed they were a Veteran. never noticed they were new to the role and they handled the role very competently. Always a presence in command channel and willing to engage both antag gimmicks and to engage player gimmicks
  4. Vazquez is a Bridge crewman I have interacted quite a bit with First looks can be deceiving and upon more interaction with him I am 100% confident that while aimed towards more zany scenarios this player is capable of executing it with utmost sincerity. I have had many situations where Vazquez wanted to do something silly and then decided against it when asked, or against it when given permission in such a believable natural way. He is entirely capable of subtle and complex roleplay and underneath everything he does lies someone who can take the roleplay seriously. This is not common. I have seen people who seem serious at first then become neglectful Zulu is not neglectful I love playing with him and I hope he can make some IPC crew to liven up the place. +1
  5. Kelnor always plays during my timeslot, therefore I see them a lot, and they are always there. Excellent Roleplay, does non necessary things (good) and doesn't do annoying things. Will keep you alive and knows tricks to circumvent you dying super hard. Sadar is also a fun char all around a well acted well roleplayed person, so they can definitely do CMO.
  6. I actually never really interacted with their characters until I met Chain This person oozes and radiates character If they had a WL before I am not surprised in the least I am not worried that someone like them would make a bad CE As a matter of fact I am looking forwards to the next mass bombing or meteor storm with them +1
  7. yeah just ahelp it or AOOC get an Admin to agree this is fine and you should be dandy. A fun idea would be to make the machine larger. Carrying more than 2 parts is incredibly stressful and it beeing like a 3*4 machine made off individual parts could fascilitate that --- Other than that this, I think, is a very fun idea and would totally not be immersion shattering. It could also be a great bound towards more gameplay options that should be relatively easy to implement
  8. Biggest surprise of the Application Owen is perhaps one of the best captains I ever experienced Capable of taking roleplay serious that is considered by most to be silly or stupid. This is a huge plus already and this ability to take people seriously and act respectably is what I think is going to shine most prominently in their conduct. +1
  9. I did previously bring an AC into the Holodeck I welcome this if possible.
  10. I know you can RP well and I know Sipho, have seen them a bit. Pretty sure I can trust you and I always want to see more K'lax : D You have my Support! +1
  11. accurate I have some reservations here. it's very small things and you definitely did read the lore page so I just wanna make sure there are no important Hiccups! Who is Mexda's Queen? Why did you choose the K'lax hive for this one? Is the name beeing 2 syllables intentional and if this is a pun is it a funny pun? What drew you to playing a Bullwark? What of unathi culture does Mexda admire and what does it try to emulate specifically? How did a Road worker end up on a Hegemony ship pushing Supermatter? (I know this is related to powerplant work but humor me if you please)
  12. Well it should definitely not be used 3 times a round if it costs Phoron to use but it would make sense for the SCC to want to install it on their Flagship with how events have been turning out. you could even give it the same timers as an end of round jump and make it the same device we canonically use for the end of round jump if you wanna be extra spicy with it unsure about the mechanical bluespace sickness aspect but I like the possiblity of this beeing something a Bluespace focused Science char could spend their time on make the spool time shorter, make it more precise, maybe even Bluespace expeditions (intentionally making travel time longer or something) need an explanation for this one.
  13. I finally recognize you! YES You you are great! Involved in Command chatter even when latejoining and present with problem finding and solution offering. Fast typer, fast thinker. Good Roleplay You get my +1
  14. This is a big personal draw for me as I can empathise with this a lot and I think it is good you enjoy and want to uphold this. investment in the community and such is a vital part of moderation that is often brushed aside by people Likewise. if there is a concern someone has with a mechanic or an interaction they are unsure about and need help and you want to be there to help that is really good. No one wants a bwoink that goes "you can't do that" you want a bwoink that says "hey I saw [thing] and I wanted to ask you about that" Anyone who has been on a Barotrauma Roleplay server knows how much agony that is :'D Their roleplaying ability is pretty good and their conduct in OOC is very friendly and welcoming and overall not at all abrasive. They commit to a bit and they show a good broadness of knowledge very regularly. I hope this goes through. +1
  15. Guilty as charged v_v I personally hate fighting Only one of my chars is excited about combat the rest will just sit in their department go 1:40:00 This is a huge takeaway and please if anyone sees this put it on a post it note If there is people you do not care about doing med rp is a lot easier and it still gives a challenge This always shines when you play android characters and it works well for events This is why I am so big into events that don't need hostile players Something like visiting an outpost or exploring a derelict or you know stuff will always be more engaging to me than "there is 12 people here and they want your kidneys FIGHT OR DIE" This is true
  16. I, like problably some others, are still a little dissapointed in how drastically the arc changed into "FSF bullies Horizon" after two of their command members got merced in a revenge strike. I get it. i just feel like the direction that one event took as a result of very few people watching or beeing able to interfere shaping the entire arc for everyone (and Elyran based characters) wasn't good. I am not here to make up an excuse or write an alternate plot that "would have totally been better you guys" I am just stating that that one part did not go well. Not sure what could have been done instead.
  17. You got the very wrong guy i have been playing Urhaket Sarpei and nothing but urhaket Sarpei I do not have ANY consular characters I am also in a probation/testing period so I would not dare make a Consular character. If I do make one I would create them in conjuction with the lorewriters like I have done with Urhaket. This change was done in cooperation with the Administrative team and multiple other command level characters as part of a storyline about 5 years in the making Long Story short he was a Xenobotanist, was "no longer trusted" during the Winters arc, was given a mop and a pushcart (as Janitorial did not used to have any requirements) and later, after getting his work Visa renewed had a Talk with his Nanotrasen Corporate representative, and, together with the Captain and the Research Director gave him a test period to prove he still got it, which he did, at which point we threw a huge party This was also the away party for Claudia Arcavius Nangeren, the Consular was there I swear!! This was also done with Administrative permission, with the caveat that I may not change my job again like that. This character is very old and very dear to me. I play a lot of Ghostroles, namely captains in Ghostroles. I think that we have a lot of great fun adventures and I do not think that my growth is completely unnoticable. On the Notion of Sneed specifically, I chose the name as a joke, this is true. But he is a 100% serious character and it is his last, not first name. The character is based on my Step father and on my oldest DnD character Zacharias, who became a lich. That character, Captain Zacharias, is a compassionate, stern, but understanding man who gives dregs and lowlifes a second chance at life on his cargo freighter. He is not a HEEHOO FUNNIE character. I usually put 100% into everything I do, including the Elevator guy, the elevator guy is admittedly 100% a joke submission.
  18. Personally a huge fan of Vihnmes and I know hollyhock is very solid at RP and a kind person OOCly Their play of Dionae is convincing and they are able to handle tougher situations in character. Example, Skrell challenged them on supporting Unathi, Vihnmes was not afraid to speak up and stand for themselves. It was well done. I support the Funny ant people notion +1 Also ya know, the character is a C'thur, doesn't want to be in the physical realm. CLASSIC
  19. BYOND key: DiggeyMineson Discord Username: DeGurkin#5455 Character names: Supsantangwongse Kantawong - Orion Express Mobile Base Captain Zacharias Sneed - Independant Freighter Captain Hezk'ata Kuhwinla - Unathi Apprentice Atmospheric Technician (Phoron Siphoner and ardent Tesla Summoner) Ka'Akaix'Theth K'lax - Passionate Hangar Tech and Productive Miner Han Song - Former Janitor, Current Xenobotanist Layana Oumarou-Bouba - Personal Assistant Ka'Viax'Pe Zo'ra - Elevator Attendant There is more like Bob Roberts or X-avier or Frida Mofette or Otenell or my Hazel but it is unlikely you have seen them around because I either play them on lowpop or do not play them much How long have you been playing on Aurora?: first in 2016-2017, then again in 2022, been playing actively for the last 9 months with a hiatus in july Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: back in 2017 I have been warned for not making it obvious enough I was a Changeling when I linged someone. I got a warning in 2022 for logging out while in a ticket, for a short context that entire interaction was flawed and resulted in the deletion of my character, I got a little emotional. This is by far the most serious warning i got and I still feel bad about that entire thing. I got another warning 3 months later for using a PG13 Curseword in LOOC. None of these warnings are Active anymore of course. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOCly the purpose of Heads of Staff is to facilitate roleplay and give a round a driving push. What's Vital here is that they are tools for other players, not the main character gods forsake it! Heads of Staff are targets, they are solutions, they are contact points for lower down players to be able to make changes and finally they are the ones sitting at the longer lever making department affecting executive decisions. They are also a vehicle to feel good about your character, if you get a Head of Staff to sign off on your -whatever- it feels like a major accomplishment and I just love the idea of beeing able to fascilitate that. Heads of Staff are there for other people to have an enjoyable time. Heads of Staff also have an OOC obligation to interact with Moderation staff to drive a round with a weird gimmick into a universally enjoyable direction. Maybe the guy in the horsemask gunning people down at random isn't fun... But a good HoS can really pull a crew together. Not to mention Ghostrole interactions here, as they are kind of needed to fascilitate interaction, with the ship, in general, to allow things like docking or calling in help from the TCFL. Also of note is that a Head of Staff isn't supreme emperor badass. Even if you are a good player, leaving an opening to be overpowered or taken hostage drives roleplay. The Antag is also a player and we are here to tell a fun story, not to instantly headshot them as soon as they enter your line of sight. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The Player themselves should be somewhat competent. Other players look to Head roles for guidance when they do not know what is up. It is important here to treat your tiny little insignificant underlings with respect. Always. Just because the player doesn't quite know how to bake a cake doesn't mean their chef character is inept. Treat everyone like they went through their relevant education and know what they are doing ICly even if they need help OOCly This is a workplace. In related terms this IS a workplace, and you are a department head, sure the OM can go into the warehouse and sort some crates, but in the end it is not the OMs obligation to repair mechanical limbs or go mining. Delegate. Give people a driving push in the round to get their job done. Rounds are always enhanced by having an idea of what to do, even if you decide to do something else. Of course there is points where you need to step up. If the Hangar Tech is using Phoron Crystals to make a Shorstwords scold them - You know what you did Russel (you shoulda asked first my guy). As I said earlier the Whitelisted player also has an obligation to go along with things This is a roleplay server and nothing and I mean NOTHING hurts as much as having a fun gimmick and someone just replying "no" (within reason of course) The Scientist is making a really dumb request you KNOW is not gonna work? Humor them The Chef is REALLY suspicious? Yeah sure I will see what's up with the freezer (within reason) People have gimmicks and we employ the school of "Yes and..." only rarely do we pull out the "No but..." Someone with a whitelist should only in the gravest of circumstances employ the dreaded "No" The Head of Staff has more information than the rest of the crew curtesy of beeing, ya know, a Head of Staff. You are the first person people go to for answers and you need to make sure no one is panicking when people are flooding into your department asking for help You need to make it clear what is happening and how your department can help/how your department needs to secure themselves. We do not want EMT running into an active firefight unless they know there is an active firefight. We do not want the Scientists to get caught in the ongoing hostage negotiation in EVA. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Phoron crisis, FSF Carvaccio threatening to fire on the SCCV Horizon, The Vaurca have developed Wivenet in Flagsdale to get out of using Hivenet, there is riots, the price of phoron goods has risen in Elyra to stay competetive, even though it should still be cheap internally - so on so forth What Affects my character personally? Hephaestus is finally opening a full branch office on Moghes officially marking Moghes as a Megacorporate Home name. Uhaket Sarpei is the son of a minor noble in Jezht, a village in the outskirts of Janivir. Janivir is not a very technologically advanced city, some building beeing constructed of wood and Stone, but despite this still boasts one of the largest population centres in Moghes (due to the fact it was not seen as a priority target in the contact war), a fact that Hephaestus Industries (here Hephaestus Guild) is keenly aware of. As the different corporations have been vying for control of the newly contacted civilisation it has become clear that most megacorporations have attracted the ire of the Unathi people due to cultural incompatibilities. The only company able to gain the trust of the people effectively beeing Hephaestus, the only Megacorporation to have had a official Guild opened on the planet and with Recent events has taken the opportunity as having, essentially, a near monopoly on the Unathi people as a labour pool to open a full Branch Office on Moghes proper, this means the Moghes Guild will be able to start their own subsidiaries on Moghean soil. One such push into Moghes is the modernisation of Janivir. This is where we come back to Uhaket Even as a hatchling the little guy was trained of course in Combat and Stewardship, a thing he naturally excels at. From a young age he was sent to supervise little day quarries owned by his father in the outskirts of Janivir to provide the stone for construction of walls and housing. When he was a little older he liked to join in on the work, seeing it as dishonest to demand a quota without knowing what it takes to fill that quota, both physically and mentally. With his official Clan education and work experience he was contacted by Hephaestus Guild due to the discovery of a large gemstone mine in the area - This, unbeknown to him, was an active initiative pushed by Hephaestus in preparation for setting up a branch office on the planet, seeing Janivir as a problem area due to their isolation as a result of their harsher climate. Beeing of a minor noble house, even if not a noble himself, plastering his face all over pamphlets for Hephaestus Guild would surely garner the admiration of clan Sarpei and open the area up for a Hephaestus Guild subsidiary. The Problem with this plan became apparent almost immediatly. The man was using a Pickaxe and Chisel. Years of education and corporate sponsorships later Uhaket was first allowed to oversee a small number of mining sites in the Moghes heartlands , beeing educated about what modern tools are used and how to most effectively employ them. It took them a little but the man wasn't stupid and after some Off-world training, This is where he first garnered his lifelong passion for Mechsuits, he was finally ready to be used as their local mascot. At first he was put in charge of small mining bases on Asteroids, then, larger installations, finally, upon personal request, a Large Factory station producing mining Rigs. Things were going well for him. This is when, during the recent robbery on the Horizon, in combination with the official grand opening of the branch office proper (a project years in the making) He was finally put on the Horizon itself! Why? As a grand PR move of course! (not that he isn't qualified) Hephaestus trusts a Unathi with keeping their ship running and supplied and they can print about his promotion in the Jezht Guild office just as the Moghes Branch Office is announced. This is sure to get every man woman and child to sign up for the first major push into Janivir proper. With such a dedicated local workforce it would be trivial to start major construction projects in the larger metropolitan area and establish Guild Houses and a commercial presence with factories and excavation sites. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? On trial, Operations Manager. After acceptance, I will mainly play as Corporate Representative and Consular as this is my sole goal in this. I have no ambition to play as a Head of Staff, I personally do not enjoy the role. I want to facilitate roleplay and Character growth for other players and a Corporate Representative is a great narrative tool for that. One I barely see played. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. The main Command page is STILL incomplete and faulty at parts. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Uhaket Sarpei - Operations Manager Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Oh I insist. If I do a terrible job I would very much like to have it striken from me. Again I have no aspirations to XO it up, order a crate of guns and solo adventure through the Gremorian horde while letting every single one of my crewmates die through neglect. If I can't do it I can't. Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yes. Extra notes: Uhaket is reaching his 40s, having worked for Hephaestus for nearly 15 years He is married, though his wife and children are home in Jezth He is fairly wealthy and has since purchased some of the land his father owns Uhaket is by FAR not the only Unathi in the grand opening strategem, he is one of hundreds of Unathi who are local heroes but are otherwise completely unknown, intentionally so. This is a drive to set up branch offices, not to win over the population at large and other Unathi are in positions of medium import. To Moghes and the Unathi at large Uhaket is just another OM - to Jezht he is living the Hephaestus dream of hard work paying off. I am moving to a different state so please pardon if I can only pay once or twice a day. I think I have shown that I have an iron constitution when it comes to sitting in an office for 47 minutes without anything happening and still beeing an active participant in roleplay and still high energy enough to make it a worthwhile interaction.
  20. I literally can not comprehend what the plan here is (from the FSF) Do they think they can fight off the combined forces of Idris and Zavodskoi (backed by Hephaestus shipyards) for... what exactly are they throwing everything away for again? The chance at an asteroid with phoron on it? I sure hope it is not for stealing a single cargo load from a pirate ship I get that there have been losses, and that prisoners were executed, but the Phoron robbery is uh.... Everything until the phoron robbery made sense The FSF has a semi stable contract with the SCC that allows them to operate without the threat of beeing extradited to the Sol Navy The FSF is a small fry private military contractor, with most of the crews (Ghostrole main btw) beeing disillusioned with what they are doing beeing right or with them beeing furious at having to work with the corporates Most rp with the FSF boils down to "we should betray the SCC but we literally can not" To straight up betray the SCC with a flagship just does not make sense. This is throwing away every single life loyal to you This is abandoning everything you once stood for, stand, and could ever stand for. Destroying your legacy For what? It is no longer revenge - Odds are even in the best case scenarion the SCC will never hire you again - and that is assuming you finish your contract to escort them. This single action has condemmed the entire FSF to either turn into Space tramps or pirates for no noticable gain.
  21. I mean There is an entire Xenoarcheologist role. You can find artifacts near anywhere for gameplay reasons but let's step out of the context of gameplay for a bit I know everything is shortened for gameplay reasons. It takes a lot to build a foundation and set up a wall. it takes months of brigtime to serve your 1 hour sentence. It takes months of archeology to find one of these artifacts but...They are still near ubiquitous. You can bet that an away site problably has one, anywhere. Now the fact that they are encased in rock is the result of space dust and such which means they have been there a while (or have been bluespace poofed into there) and some of the artifacts are just boring but some of them.... are not. This is where I go into Veil theory heehoo. But as you brought up Sinta'Mador yourself aka The Sinta Th'akh faith is real and accurate (though misunderstands some things) and whenever you die you enter the afterlife of Th'akh and the Au'tark found this dead civilisation at their poles and Mador rituals tap into this. It's like low-tech necromancy, and the only reason it works is not because it is magic, but because ot some kind of all pervasive force in the setting. There is a constant active, ongoing force in the setting that is always present, in some cases more strongly than in other places And it is the reason why things like cult rounds can happen (even though they have never happened for real) There is a reason the Chaplain role is here, and it is not just for RP, there is mechanical aspects to the role that have a real impact on gameplay if used properly (Also I think the Admins are semi-canon but of course non-canon in a semi-canon way) The idea that we are always on the brink of something really really bad happening, only getting closer the more desperate the megacorps get trying to synthesize Phoron, inevitably breaching into whatever the fuck Bluespace does Bluespace is NOT good. It is inherently evil and dangerous. There is a lot of bluespace mechanics that point to this beeing the case. (the whackiest shit is wizard rounds but there is part of some of the tech that tech wizards use that points to Bluespace beeing dangerous in and of itself) To the topic at hand I think there is a great filter in place. It is set by whatever Phoron/bluespace is, it is an everpresent force that is not all powerful at all but related to death, as death in setting is not actually the final end. I THINK it is related to the Stars in some way. To the Stars and light. I think this based on the Lii'dra and black K'ois and the K'lax beeing called the deceivers and them desperately hunting them down SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED Something bad is happening I do not know enough about Diona lore but I am POSITIVE it is the stars something is wrong with the stars Every major Religion has a Trinity of some kind And most of the successful species venerate the stars Something lurks in the dark Be careful
  22. Ah see, traditionally in the Th'ahk a large portion of major Zyola represent ideals like wisdom, life and death and traditionally they hold sway together with others other aspects similar to this and those who are seen as benevolent are feminine in nature in Sk'akh this distinction is even more obvious, as Simi, aspect of the god(des) central to the faith is the aspect of the healer, sharing the domains of wisdom and knowledge while shedding nearly any association with another field Culturally the Unathi, as a result of this, have expectations of women to be wise and knowledgable as this is what femininity is expressed as Arguably also because until recently there were not that many fields someone could have gone into if they were big on herblore or anatomy Masculine ideals however are such as Fair Judgement, Oceanfaring, travel, war and revelry/storytelling Uniquely things such as greed and ill fortune are also masculine ideas, meaning that someone who is not any of the other male things has to be expected to be tricking you. Whereas traditionally Good fortune is attributed to women Kuhwinla is on her ID as this is her legal name, it is also a name she replies to. It isn't "her" name but she knows when she is beeing referred to. in the loreblurb about the Queendom it is mentioned that the Szek’Hakh's "mak[e] connections with pirates, Dominians, and Tajaran smugglers to get her people safely out of the dangerous Wasteland." I interpreted this as the Queen and her daughters trying to prioritize the well-beeing of their subjects over such ideas as pride and forcing them to remain for traditional or vainglorious reasons or what have you (see Mudki and Lord Izaku for an example of the exact opposite where his people suffer from his hown vain and envious traditionalistic insistence on old rules that cause his people to waste away) That a single mother and her child, last of their clan, would be better of somewhere with fresh meat and water than trying to hold on in the scorching desert heat, forced to make weekly trips through Gawgaryn infested wastes just to make ends meet. Surely if they would smuggle anyone off single mothers with no clan would be at the top of the list, if only because smuggling entire clans would be more costly. Put her with a payment shipment of other things and maybe 2 or three others and ship her and her daughter to Ourea Oh yeah she does not have a College education She is intended to be hardstuck in Engineer trainee for the foreseeable future So-so flying colours is an in-joke it means she passed the qualification exam scoring great marks except for in certain fields like "how well do you understand Ceti Basic" and "paying taxes under your Hephaestus contract" where she got like 12/20 points or something point 3 and 4 are about physical differences and the Guild system, I am usure what exactly this part of the question refers to If you are more referring to the cultural points lets go with: Mealtime What is expected of a woman: She gets her meal, thanks for it, and eats it by herself, maybe with a side of water - this brings honor to her clan, she is showing strenght and dignity, clearly her forebears are great diplomats as she avoids talking to anyone and knows how to properly be hosted by a host. She is truly cunning. What is expected of a man: he orders a meal, not too big of course but he is a guest, he will tell the chef if he likes it or not, because the chef has to know, and clearly this helps the chef also. He may choose to drink what he likes so long as it does not impede his ability to work too much and talk freely to anyone he sees, afterall he would not say or do anything that would negatively impact his coworkers or employer. Combat What is expected of a woman: She is to remain calm and collected, it would be a disgrace to show fear or to loose her control over any situation she is in. She should first note who else is affected, if nobody she works with or is related to is in harms way she can simply try to escape or talk down whoever is currently beeing rowdy, a cunning woman will be able to confuse or lead astray any assailant into making a mistake or simply tell them what they need or want to know so as to drive them off into a more managable position. She is completely allowed to distract or trick people and attack them from behind, she can lie, cajole and trick people, even her allies, as much as she likes so long as it does not compromise her integrity as a lady (this includes recontextualising a situation after the fact so she looks better). An offer for a duel can be easily denied if one has the brains and gift of the gab to dissuade their opponent, maybe the opponent is way too old to be offering this, maybe it would not be a real duel, as she is clearly lower in rank than her opponent and she excuses herself as this would not be a show or spectacle but merely like a lord beating his servant, Maybe they are human or a Skrell and it would simply not be a real duel due to their smaller size and really it is not meant as an insult, merely to clarify why she has no current interest at the time. What is expected of a man: Well first off this is exactly what he has been waiting for If anyone else is at risk, even a Guwan, He would be expected to step up and side with those who he sees as most necessary to defend. It does not matter what or who is facing him, a man knows no fear. A man can be reasonable of course, but all actions coming now must come from a straightforward angle to serve the purpose of diffusing the situation, no sneaking around and attacking from behind, no running away and letting backup handle it. He must organise a defense and he must take part in it as soon as reasonable. He may rejoice in his task and go as far as he likes but he must always make sure his superiors are heard. if his superior orders him to step back and let backup handle it it would dishonor him, his clan and his superior to deny that. Of course with his own word beeing the only superior to this. If he has made a declaration of intent to go and stand and fight nobody can stop him, not even himself later realising what a terrible mistake he has made. He is free to surrender, not too soon of course, if he knows he is in an unwinnable situation. There is honor in death but there is also honor in letting those who surrender do so and no shame in doing so when reasonable. It shows respect to your opponent if they have truly bested you and the honor of your clan to be able to respect a greater warrior. Duels are the shit, go have a good duel time, we love duels! Don't pick on someone smaller than you, it is disrespectful. Bribe What is expected of a woman: Humor them, see where this goes, why are they doing this?`Who do they work with? Can you get in? Most important of all do NOT act on it. You are loyal to your clan and your Boss. Tell someone as soon as convenient. What is expected of a man: Someone wants their head bashed in? I think someone wants their head bashed in. This may be an elaborate ploy to get you in trouble. Challenge them to a Duel or tell a superior. Citizens arrest is an option. Expectation does not mean reality. Any Unathi can at any time decide to do anything
  23. I am actually worried that that will come up more than I want. Beeing Kuhwinla I hope that those who have been out of the Nation for a while, or who were raised outside of it like for example dominians, won't pick up on the implication of that name and just assume it is her family name. I know that hating Guwans is a bit of a joke for Unathi but if it becomes downright abusive it may be a bit much, which I can totally handle, whatwith me having played a Vaurca bound for a long while a while back, but I hope that I can find tolerant enough individuals to humor her. At least for long enough that they will have a revelation after getting to know her first. If worst comes to worst at least her viewpoints will be waved off as Guwan stuff and not harm her reputation any more than beeing Guwan would.
  24. BYOND Key: Diggey Mineson Character Names: Supsa Kantawong, Zacharias Sneed, Alexandra Moeller, Ka'Akaix Theth K'lax, Otenell Qrblaak, Nlom'Kaax Xonq, Han Song, Keira Pfeifer, Layana Oumarou-Bouba Species you are applying to play: Sinta'Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Hex #5C4220 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, and contacted people who play Unathi Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well to be quite frank i have seen a Unathi miner wrestle 2 space Eel It is not just a meme it actually happens That certainly piqued my interest. When I was still a bar main i spent a lot of time trying to prepare specialty drinks for Unathi customers and when you do that you get into their lore, the reasons for drink names and you wonder to yourself "what is this all about" at first I just took a cursory glance but now I actually am rather intrigued and thought I should give it a try and as opposed to my first look into Tajarans Unathi did keep my interest even after the original rabbithole, even if it is also very daunting I actually wanted to play a Unathi before I play Skrell but as it turns out I ended up making a Skrell application first. But now with some extra time under my belt I wanna give Unathi an honest try Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There is quite a few spots to approach this from, because humans are quite diverse. Either religiously as the Unathi are a very traditional culture and have not yet entered the Space age just right Culturally (different from religious) as the Unathi have not yet entered the Space age just right (though they are making quick and vast strides, some factions of the Unathi almost outpacing the main groups by hundreds of years) Physically as the Unathi ha- as there is an abundance of physiological differences between the Species or even just straight up with the fact that their main planet is run on a guild system which has vastly reaching consequences for this SPECIFIC species that no other species quite has, as they are here, in the workplace, under fundamentally different rules than their coworkers. (unless they are Dominian of course) Step one, the Unathi spiritualism is one of spirits inhabiting the world with places you would expect them to be, this is pervasive culturally to such a point that even not very devout individuals will see less mysticism and attachment to, say, AI than your average person does. (there is some disparaging thought on this of course, unathi spritiualism is quite diverse and the Au'thark for example do not see the injury of the vessel as a fundamental removal of that part of the essence and so forth) Unathi spiritualism also has trouble transcending Moghes itself, the culture has not advanced to a scale where people living away from the planet are seeing their voices heard The entirety of Si'akh for example does not even waste a thought on what it means to not live on Moghes (it does but I am making a point here) Step two, Women and Men are culturally expected and behave differently, an aspect I wish to play into with this character , the society is still rather feudal and people have, even though there has been a nuclear war, not lost the romanticisation of concepts such as honor (exceptions apply as per usual). Something that many other species have long done away with, at least on a metatextual level. Unathi behave with a bravado that is quite fun to observe and that bravado is integral to the Unathi, concepts and ideas still hold importance, especially to someone even just casually religious. The Guwan have a very interesting spot in this actually because it is not actually that easy to become a (true) Guwan unless you reserve yourself to it. Step 3 Unathi are phyiscally different they are big not necessarily tall, though some are, but just generally really beefy, can take a real punch (and dish one out), they have large tails which they use for balance and as a fat deposit, it beeing one of their most sensitive bodyparts They are cold blooded, with a preference for warmer climates, only take naps so they can take the nightshift no problem, eat once a day tops (sometimes culturally) - LAY EGGS- you know there is a bunch of differences Metabolically of course there is that Alcohol is poison to them, which means social outings operate differently, sure the humans make accomodations but Unathi usually tend to form their social circles around this, both ICly and OOCly They can only gain nourishment from animal protein and meat and if you don't have a chef on station that can actually become quite the tripping hazard, I have been a chef, I know the struggles of the odd vegetarian Unathi, I see you. There is tons more, things that are also applicable for other alien races, but as someone with a Vaurca Whitelist I assure you, esteemed reader, that I can wrap my hand around physical differences. Step four the Guilds. Okay maybe I hyped it up a little, but that does not mean that the guilds are all that unimportant - You are likely subcontracted to a company through a guild and the guild abides by Moghesian law. You aren't here as yourself, you are here representing the proud members of the Unathi Bricklaying Guild Bringing professional dishonor will surely reflect poorly on you and your guildmates and in the worst case you may be called to justify yourself. Character Name: Hezk'ata Kuhwinla Please provide a short backstory for this character: Hezk'ata's mother is from Yu'kal, the Yu'kalese are renowned for their fish, not because of their prolific fishing but for their construction of aquafarms, so much so that arguably the technology was fundamentally revolutionised by their people as they adapted to the harsh conditions of the wastelands. Traditionally Yu'kal has never been close to a larger body of water and only recently have their people settled close to a small grouping of lakes, the conception of aquafarming in the region. after the Contact War what scant few recources that were available for aquafarming quickly dried up (pun intended). Her mother was alive when the contact war happened and was first among many to witness as the planet quickly dried up and suffered from desertification as a result of it a staunch survivalist and stubborn as all hell she raised the egg she was carrying on her own (as her husband died in the contact wars) Forced to make do with what remained she was tasked with maintaining the Fishfarms and fending off the new demographic of Gawgaryn (the clans of the loosing nations, forced into banditry) who would try to come for their still adequate amount of fresh food and water. Beeing only her and her daughter, the last remaining members of the Azenzo clan, and after many years of struggle, she was smuggled to Ourea by the Queendom in a small pirate shuttle, as a mercy for the child, but was later found out and branded a Guwandi, which she took in stride, having lived as a tradeswoman in the Queendom, and died after wandering the planet for half a year, in a duel. But her daughter, about 12 at the time, was branded a Guwan, beeing an orphan, which was rough on her. for two years she was Forced to live off of scraps and by any means she could get her hands on, receiving only a small mercy from Human contractors working on Ourea, expanding the aqauculture patties and farms which she was familiar with since early childhood, doing dumb labour and earning food in bets and brawls - not one to stoop to begging or stealing. Then of course in 2459 the orphanage guilds were opened and she was put (rather forcefully) in the Kuhwinla house, dressed in dresses and beeing taught to act like a proper Unathi lady. Her spirituality is based on Th'akh (like how house Szek'Hakh still does to this day) the idea that Everything has a spirit and that those who die enter the spirit realm and oversee the material world, interfering when they see fit (if they see fit) and generally abiding by their own belief as people before they died even in death. She believes in the transitive nature of dying, in that once you are dead you will become less yourself and more turn into what you embodied when alive, and as such greatly values dedication and is highly supicious of people who do not seem "consistent" (Hezk'ata is not sure herself what this means but she is very sure she can spot a foul person on gut instinct alone). She also, for this reason (believing in the transitive nature of death) does not firmly adhere to ancestor worship, recognizing that the spirits of her ancestors guide and help her people but are just spirits at this point and no longer her gam gam as she knew her but merely a nurturing force in her family. In a way she still reveres her grandma, but not as her grandma, more as a force of good luck - her grandma is dead. And someone elses grandma is just as likely to help her if she is worthy of attention and help as such she also does not believe that she is a reincarnation or anyone specific, that she is simply an incarnation of an older spirit that has returned to her egg, a mighty force of strenght and determination, she assumes. Beeing a stubborn little brat the house Kuhwinla, of course, tried to make her act more ladylike while she was trying to be "consistent" growing up. Boyish despite her "caretakers" best efforts (leading her to having broken horns and a couple scars from struggling in her teenage years) and beeing at least somewhat capable of basic physics and maths despite her "caretakers" "lacking recources". Hezk'ata is dead certain to join a craftsguild and hire on to Hephaestus as part of their Engineer trainee programme. Deeply in debt (it could be worse) ,and with no family to burden, she worked her tail off to make that dream a reality, and even though she lacks the technical college education she has been in the Engineer "learn and study" program for the last 2 years and has been passing her Education equivalency examinations with so-so flying colours. She is ready for an Engineer Trainee position in the field What do you like about this character? I want to play as someone rowdy who is, despite that, keenly aware of what is expected of her. Someone who, despite not living up to that, upholds her own code of honor, even when challenged on this. There is grit and stubbornness integral to the character as well as a "you can't stop me" attitude that I admire Someone fearless They call her Guwan, they call her Kuhwinla, but she is the last Azenzu and she is going to make her mom proud, she is going to make everyone proud. Notes: I am a typo machine "Why is this character an engineer and not a Botanist or Janitor?" Her family were the first fishfarmers on Moghes Building Aquafarms and as a Guwan she was despised, the only ones helping her beeing Hephaestus engineers from the Ourean fishfarms if there was Hydroponic bays that could grow fish she would be a Botanist hands down but other than that she is really good at glassworking and pressure differentials looking to become a Atmospheric technician I was debating on making her agender but I think I want her to strongly identify as a lady in spite of the abuse she endured on Ourea for the last 8 or so years (5 of chich were in direct custody of an abusive orphanage) Claiming to simply be a reborn warrior or that the spirit that claimed her egg was not female would be taking the easy way out and she is not afraid to stick by her guns. 💪 She is not the brightest per se. I make super cognizant characters all the time and I wanna make a character that is a bit oafish, if well meaning. Her Spirit worship is opportunistic in nature, she will take any spirit that shows itself- She does not think that Sk'ah worship is a respectful way of honoring the dead. She believes in the transitive nature of death like followers of the god(dess) but she believes them to be seperate independant entities, spirits, wheras claiming that all spirit energy returns to the Goddess is "your grandma is gone, true, she is now part of the aspect of Simi." is like saying "lol none of your ancestors matter in the world, when you die you are just thrown into the ocean" She firmly believes that everyone who dies is important in their own right and should be honored individually, even if that what made them them is gone with their death. This would also be my second Debtor character.
  25. I feel like the fact that it was specified that the elements that were most heatedly discussed by the community were not up for discussion is a huge reason why the discurse over these changes has died I know multiple people who have resigned themselves to these changes and are retiring characters as a result. This was before the most recent changes to clarify and backpedal but the damage has been done - People have retired Dregs as a result of how citizenship was rewritten This is not to say that change is bad, just that the reason there is no more discourse is because the playerbase feels that speaking up is pointless and doing so results in nothing except attracting the ire of the writing staff. Also people really do not enjoy going to the forums - especially people with busy shedules or a lower commitment to the Server in general
