Mcspizzy Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Mcspizzy Character Name(s): Mandy Blackwell, Hannah Blackwell, Jerry Wilward AI Name(s): N/A Preferred means of contact: Discord Age: 19 Timezone: US EST When are you on Aurora?: 9pm-5am EST most days. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Over four years. How long have you played on Aurora: Two years on and off. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: More than the average player, i am always looking for ways to improve gameplay. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have never been banned from any ss13 server. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play ss13 for a lot of reasons. One such is fulfilling my psychopathic urges and because i'm half german and enjoy working after work. Back when i first started on goon, it was because i had heard that the game had a robust chemistry aspect. Not to go too into detail but i love chemistry, and thankfully with that being one of the core parts of said server i stuck around. Now after years of playing, i play space station for the age old reason that most others say: There isn't another game like this one. Space station 13 has become my most played game out off all others, and it will probably stay that way for as long as byond, and the servers hosting the game are around. Why do you play on Aurora?: I play on aurora because as much fun as it is killing the clown by bathing him in a vat of unstable mutagen, watching him twist and contort into something...Losing all sanity and ultimately becoming a writhing mass of flesh, or killing all of sec in less than a minute gets boring after the x amounts of time i've done it. I play on aurora, because feelings, and memories i got on other servers were happy, but quick and fleeting. I play on aurora, to make lasting memories and friendships that i can look back on and smile with the ones i made them with. What do moderators do?: Moderators do a lot of things here, more than other ss13 servers, more than other places in general. Mods not only deal with problems ingame, but also on the forums. Mods can be responsible for maintaining parts of the community, although the extent of this i do know. but, to me, the most important part of being a mod is to help players. Mods are the ones who normally the first to answer ahelps pertaining the questions on the game, and from what i have seen are always willing to share their knowledge of the game. They are, so to say, mentors to the comunity. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To me, being a mod for aurora means that you have taken a step in the direction of helping the comunity grow. It means that the comunity trusts you, and that you are to set the example for others to follow. Why do you want to be a moderator?: To be honest, i don't. I would much rather play the game, and do what i can to make sure that the game stays fun for everyone the way i do now. I help players as much as i can already, why do i need a status for it? However, people have came to me and asked me to become a mod, and although i do not wish to, i am willing to become one, and help the comunity grow through this. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: In the past i have hosted two communities, both for the games ARMA 2&3. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: My mother drove two things into me: sticks and stones, and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. My abilities to handle these three are above average. Anything Else You Want to Add: Datberry and Garn are holding me at gunpoint.

hivefleetchicken Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 -1 Spizzy has lied to staff about me before with the intention of getting me in trouble, the subject of a complaint in which he told staff that I was toying with AFKs, attempting to get them in trouble with CCIA, and feeding them "a ton of vodka". (in reality, of course, i fed him a cup of water while he was peppersprayed, and every other claim was completely made up to get me in trouble) I do not support and cannot trust someone who lies to staff as a moderator, in lieu of recent events he has proven that he has not changed. Lying to staff is not something that a player considering becoming mod should ever do in their career.

Lying to staff is not something that a player considering becoming mod should ever do in their career. Had it not been made a non-issue, i would have pursued it further, yet it seems you have not. If you wish to bring this up a second time i urge you to make another complaint. But i stand by my words that these were two separate times during that round. That being that the time that you had attempted to force feed me alcohol was at the time yahir jones had made the mini bar outside and between medbay and sec, be that, or you attempting to use the camera you had to frame me drinking on the job. And what are these recent events? EDIT: After re-reading hives post, id also like to inquire him on how i was attempting to 'get him in trouble with CCIA', and why you believe i was using that ahelp to 'get you in trouble'. Do you think i have a quarrel against you? Because i can tell you now, i dont.

So reading this, simply makes me uncomfortable selecting you for a trial phase. Gives me an indication that you're here due to peer pressure as opposed to your own will. I feel you'd burn out very quickly honestly. There's also a topic on your attitude to an extent, you get very heated in a lot of things and sometimes they don't translate to good things. Interested on your thoughts.
Mcspizzy Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Following Sharp's post: "So reading this, simply makes me uncomfortable selecting you for a trial phase. Gives me an indication that you're here due to peer pressure as opposed to your own will. I feel you'd burn out very quickly honestly." That is, really, why i made my app. Several admins, mods, and garn told me that i should apply for trial mod. I myself do not like being in a position like this. One of the biggest reason i created my own ArmA comunity as mentioned above was not only because i myself didn't like how other communities acted, but because i was pressured into making it from others who wanted the same thing. Now, does this mean that i don't want to help in the progress of aurora growing? No, i guess what i'm trying to say is id rather support than have any other role, which is why i've been slowly working my way into spriting and some coding. And as to whether you think i would burn out because of what i have said here, or past experiences with me, if you could clarify which it would help greatly in answering this question. "There's also a topic on your attitude to an extent, you get very heated in a lot of things and sometimes they don't translate to good things." I can only say that i care deeply for the things that i take time and effort to. However if you are referring to something specific, if i could ask for an example it would help me greatly in answering this question.
Faris Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 That is, really, why i made my app. Several admins, mods, and garn told me that i should apply for trial mod. This is all well and good, we do sometimes inform people when we believe they should apply, however. I myself do not like being in a position like this. I cannot find myself able to support this under this premise. We're all volunteers and all of us are staff because we like and want to be there, among with wanting to help the community in some way. My suggestion is for you to reapply at a later date when you yourself want to, not because people have been pressuring you to. Otherwise, I'd like you to affirm that you yourself would like this position. You are still able to support and help the community much like you're already doing with your security oriented discord, which frankly has done quite good, without coming on as an official staff member.
Mcspizzy Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 No, i'd rather not be a moderator. If it helps in deciding, i will now retract my app. And thank you for the kind words to my security efforts. Our first endevour into creating a 'official' security suggestion may have flopped a bit, but it has in no way dicrouraged me from continuing it, as i have more planned to improve security.

We thank you for taking the time and applying, and should you feel that you wish to be a moderator, on your own volition, feel free to apply. For the time being, locking and archiving.
