witchbells
BYOND Key:NursieKitty Character Names: Phoebe Essel, Garvan Harper, Oceoyl'Fedas Wruorv'hxeo, Alissa Kihrbusihr, Vincent Garcia, others. Species you are applying to play:Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Probably somewhere around a rusty brown and sandstone. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I mention aesthetic a whole lot during these applications, but I like what unathi have going. I have this preconception of unathi fashioning a lot of things from furs, hides, teeth, and horns. They're biting and kicking to survive in a biome that essentially wants them dead (which is, in my eyes, only partially their fault) and are making the best of it. They're building spacefaring vessels, making powerful allies, and trying to get their planet back on its feet (which I really really like as a development, by the way.) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The one thing that the unathi have always had is more rigid standards in how they treat others. It's a significant faux pas not to give another Sinta the proper respect they deserve. And there's the whole Guwan thing who are expected to be the dregs of society, but on station, just end up being really really unlucky people with not a lot of choice. Character Name: Shiur'izzi Xerius Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Seewul Xerius was an old guildmaster, having vast control over the trade of textiles on Ouerea. He owned plots of land all over the planet from which fiber crops were grown and the plants where they were processed and weeved, but of all of this, the most valuable things in his life were his four children - Xerula, Shiur'izzi, Usalsul, and Athisis. Xerula and Shiur'izzi, respectively the eldest brother and sister, had the most responsibilities of the four. Xerula was a confident young man, poised to take his father's place in his empire, and Shiur'izzi was (mostly) complacent being around to care for her family and assist them where she could. Athisis had no such desires to follow any path that had been set out for her. It was alright that Athisis did not want to marry - this was not Moghes, they were not bound by such tired traditions. It was wonderful that Athisis wanted to pursue further education and travel Ouerea - there was a plethora of things that could be learned from travelling the world. It was less wonderful when Athisis professed that she would be travelling off-planet, and out of the system, to Biesel. He was far from comfortable with letting his youngest daughter travel on her own to a completely different world. And so he beseeched the eldest sister; Please, you must go with her. She is young, brash, and inexperienced - I want her to find her path, but she will not do it alone. What do you like about this character? I intend for her to be one of my more docile characters (we'll see how that goes, because the vast majority of my characters are about as docile as a hippopotamus) and as an unathi, I'll be able to have a more intimate relationship with culture than I think I could find in any other species. Even with humans, there is a bit of pressure not to be too attached to culture, as humans have crossed planets and melded together, and etcetera. She's also an older sister, which is not only something I empathize with, but..actually something I have yet to play. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm going to avoid this question until the sun pops. I rate myself highly, because it's me! I'm rating me! I understand that there is, and always will be areas of roleplay I can improve on. It's a neverending endeavor. I'm far more comfortable inviting others to rate me and give criticism, because I don't have enough faith in my self awareness to poke those holes in myself. Notes: now if you don't mind me i'm going to dive head-first into this void Link to comment
Swim420
I've played with Phoebe and (I think) Vincent on multiple occasions, and generally enjoyed the roleplay that I had with them - after coming back from my hiatus, Phoebe was one of the few characters that I still recognized, which shows a good level of commitment to the character in my opinion. Additionally, Nursie is a fun person to talk to OOCly as well, and seems to have a detailed understanding on multiple things I've never even thought about - this makes me trust that she'd be able to pull off playing as an alien species with such interesting lore as the Unathi. Final note: I love how your character has an established family dynamic going for them, always a trait that I really like seeing with characters! +1 Link to comment
Resilynn
I've RP'd with Phoebe a bit here and there, Nursie seems like a solid player. +1 Link to comment
Zundy
Nurse is a 10/10 roleplayer in my book and their characters are always a delight to roleplay alongside. The character concept seems solid, though the bio seems short. What sort of Unathi will you be going for? It seem like you'll be heading away from a staunch traditionalist which makes sense because she'll be a filthy Ouerea Unathi savage. Will the sister character be present on station as an alt? If not, whats Shiur'izzi's motivation for joining NT? Link to comment

The story intentionally focused on Shiur's family because family is one of Shiur's primary concerns, and it plays a large role in her origin. The sister character will not be present at this time and I have no plans to use her as an alt, (which doesn't stop her from being hired by NT) however, I believe Nanotrasen is and has been quoted as the largest sources of employment in Tau Ceti. Nanotrasen is a gargantuan brand which has their fingers in many pies, and their employees enjoy bountiful benefits with the low low price of signing a few NDAs. But in regards to the character again, Shiur is intended to be played as a very sentimental and empathetic character. She doesn't think of herself very often, and I think it might introduce some interesting character development down the road. Link to comment

Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello, sorry for the delay. Female unathi are a rarity, more-so female Unathi within the confines of their role. But you've created a Unathi that follows the themes of the unathi race and how women are viewed and expected to behave. On top of that you have good feedback, so application accepted! Link to comment
