HouseOfSynth
BYOND Key: House_Of_Synth Character Names: To name a few: Ikrad Yam'hir, Teletraan, Durak'ven Dez'taka, Aktari Nek'lev, Embers On The Horizon and some others I don't really play too often. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Most likely a beige "sand colored" Unathi, I don't see many of them around so why not. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have indeed and will likely be flicking back and from it whenever I need to. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well firstly, it's one more whitelist toward getting them all, but that's more of a subsidiary reason. I'd like another angle to play at, the idea of playing a pro-honour unathi really sparks my interest, I don't see that many Unathi show their honour as prominently as I may intend to when/if this whitelist application succeeds. It also opens up a new window of interaction, a good understanding of the lore can really make for some great conversation and even conflict with other Unathi. Both of which I look forward to. Honour seems like it could play a larger role in conversation and certainly interaction, especially if there's a Guwan about. Although I sound a little driven on honour, there's also the flipside of that. I'll likely not be making a Guwan anytime soon due to the sheer number of them, although that could be due to them fleeing from the pure the shame that being on Moghes would bring them, but even-so, I find the flipside of that honourable part of the race just as interesting. The social outcast theme also opens up new doors to walk through, and new ways to act. A Guwan would feel shame no matter where they are, perhaps giving them a positive personality, or a negative one. The lore is so diverse it gives many options for characters and the stories to go along with them. And so I think that is why I'd like to play the race. It's so rich in lore and opportunities. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, I kinda touched on this above, so forgive me if I find myself repeating myself here. Unathi are very much honour driven. One could say it's a foothold on the Unathi society itself. So that is a major difference from a human. To humans honour is more of a concept, whereas with a typical Unathi, honour is everything. There's also the difference in mechanics, although they are not entirely important. BUT, the emotional and physical reactions unathi give to different situations. For example, an anxious Unathi will likely sway, personally I like to think of this as a defense mechanism. They sway, ready to move swiftly if they need to. On a more emotional level, they give clear signs to indicate said emotion. Heightened emotion such as anger as well as irritation are conveyed via the thumping of the tail against the ground. Blowing air through there nostrils sharply also shows this. So yes, Unathi are very different from Humans in many ways, from their biology, the way they show emotions and their mannerisms. Character Name: Izaski Uthwea Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Izaski Uthwea was born into a quite a large family, that were considered as a clan loyal to the Izweski Hegemony and their political movements. The clan was not exactly a well known one, there were many clans higher and more powerful than the Uthwea clan. Izaski was at the lower end of the Hierarchy of the clan, raised as a warrior. Izaski was taught the ways of honour and it's importance to Unathi. Izaski understood and felt as if honour was a foothold for success in the Unathi society. He accepted that he'd rather die in battle than allowing those with dishonour to taint the lands he stood upon.. As the Traditionalist Coalition had been waging war against the Izweski Hegemony, the Uthwea clan had slowly been preparing. The clan was situated on lands rather close to the Izweski Hegemony's own territory, but at a distance from where the main battlefields were to be located when the war came around. Fortunately the clan was not too close to the battlefields to risk being overtaken by them, however a threat was still present should the coalition break into the lands.. They joined the war rather late, toward the end of the war, what could be considered the final 4 months to be precise, a likely reason would be due to the distance that would have needed to have been covered to reach the war-zone. Perhaps with the time it took to receive and/or create the weapons and armourments for the members to wear and fight with.. The clan sent many warriors as well as some other members skilled in other useful professions to aid the Hegemony in their efforts to eradicate the Coalition, Izaski being one of them. The war was a total disaster for the Uthwea clan. Most of the warriors sent were slain by the coalition. Izaski had been posted, not on the front line, but nearby to it. He had been close enough to fight those who opposed the Hegemony. The retreat call came from his clan when they had learned of the loss they had suffered. They called the remaining members of the clan they could reach back to their lands. The leaders of the clan had weighed the benefits and risks of staying in the war. The clan was more open to external threat from other clans without the reinforcements the surviving members could bring. And so they decided it was a better option to retreat, not doing-so would risk the collapse of the clan. It was decided by the leaders of the clan that some members of the clan, one or two warriors and some other members who worked in other professions were to be applied for work with NanoTrasen, and that a portion of the money earned by these members was to be sent back to the clan, in order to be put toward the costs needed to make up for the loss of members. The clan was also at a huge risk due to the radiation fields expansions. It was calculated to expand over the lands owned by the Uthwea within the next 10 or so years.. Izaski was one of the people sent to work and pay remittance from his salary. He has been working for NT for many years. Although he dislikes the idea of being separated from his home soil, and his clan as a whole, he respects the choice of his superiors. It would be dishonourable not to respect their choice. Izaski found that he fit well into security positions, mostly due to the fact that a cornerstone of security work is keeping the innocent protected and upholding regulations to keep a community safe.. So he works, and he works hard to do his clan proud, and to aid in preventing their destruction set in motion by the Coalition's atomic weapons.. What do you like about this character? I don't see many pro-honour unathi around so I thought I'd take a stab at it. This is one of the aspects I think will make this a great character to play, especially if done well. I also like that he feels a little out of place, having to work for a company so far from his true home, but the decision is respected by Izaski and to go against it would be shameful to say the least. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I generally don't like to rate my own ability, for bias and all that. So I'll leave that up to those who are generous enough to post feedback on this application. Buuut if I had to give a figure, I'd say probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. I'm not perfect and am not 100% efficient at playing a character exactly as they're supposed to act toward more subtle things, but I do okay I think. Notes: I hope I got everything right here, I'm not the best with backstories. Constructive criticism appreciated! Link to comment
Zundy
Synths a cool guy and a decent roleplayer so from a purely "RP potential" angle I think he fits the bill. Questions regarding your Unathi boi: You say his clan lands were far away from the battlefield, where? Did they not feel the impact of the atomic exchange? What happened to his clan? How old is he? What role will he be working in? Why? I'm glad you're going to go for a straight edge Unathi as we've got a lot of Guwan characters and though they're quite decent, it is getting tired in my opinion. MattAtlas
Synth's a nice guy in OOC, and he's pretty good at roleplaying from what I've seen. Teletraan is one of the best AIs, and also one of the best roleplayed AIs, even. I can't judge too much on the backstory but it looks solid and promising. I wouldn't mind seeing an honorable Unathi. +1. Link to comment

Hello, hello! First off thank you for the feedback, it's highly appreciated. I've given the location of the clan some thought. I've decided I'm going to go with the following. I'd like to think the clan is situated on lands rather close to the Izweski Hegemony's own territory, but at a distance from the main battlefield. Not too far so that the battle is irrelevant and poses no threat, but not too close so that the clan is engulfed by the battlefields. If that makes sense. Regarding the atomic exchange, I have made the alteration to make this quite a threat to the clan. The lands are close to the wasteland, close enough that within the next decade or two the clan will be engulfed by the radiation fields. This would further strengthen the reason for sending out members to work and send remittance to the clan. And now the character themself! I've decided on Isazki being 33 years of age at present. Which would have made him 23 during the final year of the contact war. Decided department would be security unless some drastic change alters this. Security made the most sense for an Unathi raised as a warrior, as well as raised with honour due to the fact that a cornerstone in security work is protecting the innocent, which may be considered dishonourable not to do. I hope this clears up your questions, if you have more do feel free to make them clear in another reply. Link to comment

Guest Marlon Phoenix
Hello! Your character concept is solid; I enjoy that you keep him connected to Moghes through his remittance. It is a great method of tying a character to Tau Ceti for why they work on the Aurora, and still lets him be connected to his homeland. With that and the solid understanding of the lore and positive feedback I'll be happy to accept this application! Link to comment
