Guest Menown
BYOND Key: Meowykins Staff BYOND Key: Meowykins Reason for complaint: Grief/Abuse of Power Evidence/logs/etc: No logs. Not really anything that can be shown, other than statements. On 26AUG2014, we had an extended round with four people active. A disease had stricken, and we had no virologists. During which time, I had chosen to ask Lessick if I could perform something similar to what Covert had months ago, which entailed my character being thrown into various walls and such, "possessed" in a manner. It quickly became evident, that this was an act of grief, as Joe Kane, despite giving his consent to participate, was killed, and several other people were involved, one of them dying, after telling Joe that he would be banned, and was hacking. It was then, that I chose to de-admin myself. I realise, that I shouldn't have attempted the event, because in a way, it was chucklefucking, and was grief. I sincerely apologise to all affected parties, and hope that this will be able to be put behind us. Link to comment
Ggnomaz
I was the RD that round, and being extremely robust, I survived, and wasnt even infected, but that's not the case, I have the logs, showing what happened (from IC perspective, since I was playing). If this was properly executed, and perhaps with less grief and without depressurising the whole escape arm, I would've been fine. But i had a damn cryo pod attacking me. And honestly, if Meowy continued to screw around with me, I would've activated the nuke. EDIT: And honestly, since I survived, I could not care less about this, because it's just a fucking game, but it's the people who died, or nearly died, like Tophat who will be mad at this. and i understand the whole HEAVY RP thing, and yes this was unacceptable, but personally, I don't care, as long as shit like this does not repeat. EDIT2: Scan the attachment with antivirus. god knows what lurks in my pc. Link to comment
LoneTophat
I ended up ghosting myself, when I saw what was happening. I am disappointed by the behavior of Meowykins and Lessick. But, I do not want anyone's "powers stripped". I am not a big disciplinarian, frankly. I believe this can be solved quite simply, Skull and other head honcho's can discuss what went wrong with the involved individuals, and we can move forward from there. There may have not been very many folks on, but the image of Aurora is something I believe we all take seriously here, that of it being a roleplay server, not a grief/adminbus/goon server. I would like to thank Meowy for being honest and forthright with his actions. Link to comment
Lessick
This was a case of a critical lack of judgment on my part, and poor planning. There were maybe four active players total, and essentially nothing was happening. Meow suggested a thing and it sounded hilarious and interesting. I didn't remember how destructive and griefy selvitorpedoing a body is. I'd also like to apologize to the three people whose round I ruined. I should have put up a vote, or established some kind of communication with the other players before giving Meow the go-ahead. I will refrain from making solo executive decisions at 2 AM in the future. u_u Link to comment
Chaznoodles
Why is a coder being allowed to do things like this in the first place. As far as I'm aware, coders are not part of the administration staffing. Link to comment
Frances
Why is a coder being allowed to do things like this in the first place. As far as I'm aware, coders are not part of the administration staffing. One of the jobs of admins is to oversee events - developers and moderators should not use their powers to intervene directly in the game, unless given permission by an admin. It's not uncommon for admins to promote trusted staff during a round to let them run their own events (I've seen it happen once or twice with a few non-admin staff including devs and mods), but this is usually done in a more organized way. Given the very low pop, though, I think I understand the call. This feels to me like a honest mistake. Link to comment
Skull132
Why is a coder being allowed to do things like this in the first place. As far as I'm aware, coders are not part of the administration staffing. The things that grant them access to this is buildmode. Devs need it to sort some things out, or to test others. Also, both of the people responsible have come forth, and I am certain, have learned from it. Follow-up will be conducted by myself, and this should not happen anymore. Link to comment
