AmoryBlaine Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 With the suggestion of a race of mole people, I have come up with another idea; Independent prospectors and carp hunters. Carp hunters, Prospectors and Miners have come to the area around the NSS Aurora. They're a mixed bag of characters, mostly poor and making it day by day. They arrive every once and awhile in shuttles together before parting ways to work on their own. While NT is not particularly happy to have these groups around their facility, they don't usually cause trouble and are willing to trade most interesting finds over to the Aurora in return for credits. I suppose they'd get the same sorta prompt as ERT, Mercs and Raiders allowing the player to customize them when they spawn. They'd be treated as a neutral party, with most forward transgressions being against the rules. They wouldn't have much more than basic equipment, Void-suits of varying designs. Their main camp on the asteroid would be a small surface side metal building with storage, a small barracks and extra supplies. The main purpose of this would be round variety. Adds a group of non-antagonists to the round similar to the merchant, but they're a slight hassle, being a generally unwelcome group. Gives Security a reason to watch the surface, make sure there aren't any lost miners looking around. The specifics are up to discussion, I would just enjoy RPing an outside party mining nearby.
Butterrobber202 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 NT would 100% claim the asteroid the station is embedded in, meaning legally they’d own all the ore inside it.
AmoryBlaine Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 NT would 100% claim the asteroid the station is embedded in, meaning legally they’d own all the ore inside it. Hence they aren't particularly welcome. So if the station wants them gone, they'd need to handle them. They aren't raiders, they aren't mercenaries. They're just regular people. So Security won't be going out to blast them and they won't be coming to blast Security.

They wouldn’t just be “not particularly welcome” NT would claim it was illegal mining and probably run them off by force, why would NT let anyone get a piece of the phoron pie?
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Whatever NT's policies are regarding the asteroid are whatever we want them to be. If we want it to be space law that miners can claim any resources they mine but only on odd-numbered days during Lent, then that's completely something that can happen. Contracting work out to subsidiary companies is something that companies already do. NT wants the money phoron creates. Giving NT a cut of what you mine seems reasonable.
AmoryBlaine Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 It's whatever you guys wanna make it. That's why I left the explanation pretty bare-bones.
