New Engineering Role

Janitalia, right now, is under rule of Engineering, for dubious reasons. These reasons are often 'minor maintenance. Taking care of maintenance.' and such. I do not believe the Janitor fit. However, in the ancient Voxane scrolls, I have uncovered a role which would be more suited to it.

Enter the Mechanic, a hybrid Science-Engineering role. http://ss13.moe/wiki/index.php/Mechanic

The Mechanic's job is fixing, replacing, and upgrading all the useless bits and bobs around the station, as well as replacing things that people have lost. They are able to scan things with a handheld device, upload them to a machine in their mancave, and reproduce them, either via a modified protolathe, or through flatpacks. Flatpacks are essentially IKEA sets, you open them and then assemble things like jukeboxes, chem machines, and more using various parts. Often they are used to get extra copies of valuable things, which are quite important.

In exchange for the Mechanic, the Janitor will be brought back to service. Whether he keeps his backpack sprayer reserve of Tajaran deterrent and his Pussy Wagon are up to discussion.

I like the concept of a mechanic as an engie guy who makes and fixes new shit that isn't hull breaches (IT department projects gives me nightmares). Especially if he gets some unique features to make engineering brighter. But LEAVE THE JANITORS ALONE. THEY WERE TAKEN FROM SERVICE KINGDOM BY THE RIGHT OF OIL AND WRENCH. Also i fell kind of bad when i have to bother someone titled "station engineer" over a broken lightbulb

Anything that puts the janitors back in the service department where they belong is good with me. They were taken from their home by the whim of a Madman and fool.

To be honest, isn't a Maintenance Technician responsible for the upkeep of the station?

I can see a MT being merged with the Janitor role in such a case, and possibly even the electrician occupation (although they are the best to wire the station, solars, and setting up of the Tesla, so it's debatable). They would be responsible for fixing lights, annoying vending machines, keeping the halls clean... it would be specialized like an Engine Tech, or Atmos Tech. It sounds reasonable enough, wouldn't you think?
