K0NFL1QT Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Give the Merc and Heister shuttle actual engines that run on a supply of phoron sheets, and can be damaged/destroyed, with each jump consuming from its internal store. A large jump, as in from the base to the asteroid and back, should consume maybe half of its total supply while shorter jumps consume much less. This prevents shuttle based antags from both 'leaving whenever they want', because they will either have to buy/steal some phoron to go home, and reduce the exceptionally annoying 'bounce around the asteroid' hunt that these rounds often become by making the antags plan out their jumps a little more.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Hit and run is the primary defense for raiders. Security does not have the same limitation in their hunts. If security finds the raider ship, the raiders are RIP. Mercenaries are tougher, but their ship could still be seized and then RIP to them. -1
LiliumArgentium Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 (edited) I feel like raiders would be straight fucked, but if mercs weren't RIGHT next to the station, I doubt that they'd have many issues. Besides, the chasing them around from what I've heard is the most annoying thing ever. Edit: I am +1ing this for reference. Edited April 10, 2018 by Guest
MintyGums Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Hit and run is the primary defense for raiders. Security does not have the same limitation in their hunts. I semi-agree with this, but it only focuses on OOC issues that could be dealt with easily. We could make raiders/mercs have a bigger supply of phoron sheets or have a delay instead of supplies needed between jumps to combat this. Experimenting could also always be done, to get this just right. ICly, this is a great idea, because this game is so focused on depth and, let’s face it, a ship with no fuel requirements or delays for flying is a ship that does not make sense. The raiders and mercs would have to RP more and maybe give up and surrender to security, at least until they have more fuel. I am +1ing this, good initiative for RP and no irritating cat and mouse with the raider/merc ship.
Sytic Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 The Raiders' Skipjack is designed to be fast and mobile, quick on its feet. That's the entire point- to be able to blast off whenever necessary. The Merc ship is just a bog-standard transport ship for a merc-team, maybe they could have a cooldown instead of both of them.
LordFowl Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Voting for dismissal. Either the fuel is a non-mechanic because they have plenty, or it hinders the game-mode because both mercs and raiders rely on hit and run tactics.
