  1. Played under them as a scientist and worked with them as a captain when they played their RD Maiike Houk. Solid RPer and worthy of the whitelist. +1
  2. BYOND key: JoeTheBro Discord Username: thebroseph Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora? Around 6 years. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None I can remember. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? I think the two main responsibilities of a head of staff are: Help create engaging roleplay opportunities for the rest of the crew through command interaction. I’ve seen a lot of command members make a round memorable through their decisions, so what command members do in a round absolutely influences the narrative. The aim should be to have some roleplay that’s enjoyable for everybody. Assist new players in learning the mechanics of the department or the game in general. Usually everyone helps new players regardless of if they're in command or not, but I think command members should make it a direct priority to oversee someone new learning as they’re more likely to be more knowledgeable about the department they run. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? I think having a whitelist in general, whether it be a species or a command whitelist, opens up a few more opportunities for roleplay. Anybody with a whitelist should attempt to use their new abilities or positions to create a good story, rather than abusing whatever privilege they gain for any in-game advantages. Also, I think keeping a whitelist requires that you have some ability to uphold a decent standard of roleplay, for everyone else’s sake along with your own. Nobody wants to see any of the lore portrayed inaccurately, so I think it’s an important OOC responsibility to try and make an effort to roleplay well. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. The Horizon’s recent deep space expedition was a hard time for most, if not all, the crew involved. When the Horizon returned recently back to Biesel for the end of the year, two new command members stepped on board, looking all too recharged to relieve anyone weary enough to take some time off after the Horizon’s latest adventure. In addition to well rested crew being shifted onto the top deck, the rising hostilities between Zavod and Hephaestus has called for some level heads and some loyal dogs to enter the mixing pot that is the Horizon. Morgan Guillame, a born and raised Valkyrian with an undying loyalty to the Trasen family and consequently the SCC, joined the crew as a new Captain. He appears calm and reasonable, somebody who could mediate any hostilities before they become too much of a problem. Lastly, being a Valkyrian, he’s also used to many cultures clashing together and how to navigate the potential upsets. Overall, a seemingly good pick for the tense times. On the other hand, there is Chief Engineer Heping Hsieh. A die hard Hephaestus loyalist from New Hai Phong who will not hear a bad word about Aeson. Whether his loyalty is the result of a handsome paycheck or due to the life-long corporate rule Hephaestus has had on him and his home is unclear. He has Hephaestus’ interests at heart and will keep a close eye for them. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? All of them eventually, but I’ll start with Captain and Chief Engineer. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Captain - Morgan Guillame Chief Engineer - Heping Hsieh Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes. Extra notes: None.
  3. BYOND Key: JoeTheBro Discord Username: thebroseph Character Name: Darvan Omega Item Name: painted leather jacket Item Function(s): Leather jacket. Item Description: This leather jacket has been roughly painted cyan on the left arm and purple on the right arm. There appears to be an uppercase omega symbol on the back, drawn in the same paint from the respective halves of the jacket. You can see a faint NT logo beneath the omega symbol if you look hard enough. Why is your character bringing this item to work?: He thinks it looks cool, and it has a subtle anti-corporate sentiment (painted over corporate logo) that appeals to his Dreg background. How did your character obtain this item?: He painted over his NanoTrasen leather jacket with a paint gun, hence the rough finish referenced in the description. He got the idea while attempting to remove the original NT logo in an act of defiance after he believed was becoming a bit too corporate lately. He's worn the default NT leather jacket a lot of times on many shifts, so it's also not out of nowhere. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: I think it’s a funny statement to show how Darvan Omega still values his heritage as a Dreg over his employment on a corporate ship even after a few years, so he would probably value it highly, especially since he decorated it himself. Sprites: omegajacket.dmi Additional Comments: I realised that the SCC might have a problem with openly wearing anti-corporate clothing on the ship, however I think it’s easily deflected by the fact that the Omega symbol doesn’t really have any official anti-corporate connotations, and also by the fact that Darvan would probably just lie and say the symbol had faded before he decided to paint over it. This is especially a good lie due to the timing of the Horizon’s deep space expedition- repurposing an old jacket is resourceful. Also, I decided it’s probably time to commemorate a five or six year old character with a bit of unique kit. Sorry if there's any problems with the sprites, this is my first time attempting to sprite something properly. The sprites attached include open and closed sprites, as well as the icons for the unworn jacket.

  6. I think this is a really good idea, but as many people have said interfacing with electrical equipment on the station could be a bit overpowered and would definitely make it a lot harder to hide/run from the terminator, also, how would the terminators be able to infiltrate the staff? In the terminator series, teleporters require the person to be completely naked, so I think it would be very very hard for the terminators to silently slip into the crew as they'd be naked, and would lack an Identification card, immediately making the terminators stand out from the rest of the crew just the same way Wizard and Ninja does, though I really do support this idea. I just feel that it would be way too challenging for the Terminators, but your aim may not even be to infiltrate the station, it really depends on how you're viewing it. If there was some sort of system that the terminators could infiltrate the station without alarming anyone, then it would truly be like paranoia, as you said it would be similar to. Another suggestion would be to perhaps include a large bunch of the crew, for example, the future leader/leaders could have a few unknown supporters, which would most likely see the death of their friend a martyr for their cause, and would take up their work, including more people that need to be protected/killed. Apart from these minor details, I think this is a really good idea for a game mode and would enjoy playing it. (One last suggestion, if people attempt to interfere with the terminator's assassination/protection they are seen as a threat and could possibly be included in to the gamemode, it's up to you how they would be included perhaps)
  7. I've seen you around the server a lot recently, and I think you're a good roleplayer. Your answers are also reasonably long enough to be substantial. I'm going to give a +1 for this, good job and good luck.
