Very rough estimate. How long have you played on Aurora: Since September or October of 2013, can't quite remember. Basically about a few weeks up to a month after Aurora was first created. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know a lot. I'm well-versed in Medical and competent in mostly everything else. I do have less knowledge on things like telescience, etc. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes, I used to be a moderator for this fine server. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Yes, I am currently permabanned from this fine server. Personality Why do you play SS13?: The modern games that are coming out in this day and age are too flashy and bright for my tastes. The advanced graphics and particle effects present in triple-A titles like the Witcher 3, Just Cause 3, Half Life 3 and such are overstimulating to me. My brain can't handle them and I have something akin to a seizure whenever I try to play these type of games. I've found that SS13 doesn't make me have a seizure with its more simple looks while not compromising aesthetics too much. Why do you play on Aurora?: Well, after playing on Aurora for a while, I found a really nice and wholesome community here that is accepting and understanding to me and everyone. For example, the server I used to play on was extremely hostile to players of the Tajaran race but when I came to Aurora I found that there were people with fursonas like me. Tajarans were not only allowed but encouraged. Besides the occasional "GAS THE CATBEASTS, RACE WAR NOW" comments I saw in OOC and such, everyone was really nice and respectful of my tastes. After all, those comments are everywhere, right? Furthermore, I really appreciate the staff of this server. I like how the staff aren't afraid to root out and destroy the enemy when it comes down to it. The "we don't negotiate with terrorists" approach is great, imo. Everyone on this server is really smart and open to new ideas and I love how friendly and cool the people I've encountered so far are. Haha. Also, on the forums, people aren't afraid to protect minority opinions. I've encountered a couple of threads in which people with fursonas like me were attacked but the good people of this server weren't afraid to protect them, and in effect, protect me also. I feel such strong love for this server! What do moderators do?: Guide players, contribute to the community and remove players that reveal themselves to be serious threats to the server. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Really, it's all about giving it your all. Trying your best. Despite what anyone says, it's about believing in yourself! Everyone has their own special, unique approach to moderating. There is no objectively good way to moderate, after all. One thing I admire about Aurora is that it manages to blend these different styles together to create the crack squad of super skilled ninja warriors for moderators and admins we have today. Everybody can contribute, new and old! Why do you want to be a moderator?: To protect this grand server from the constant flood of people who think the Heavy RP is something to be scoffed at. I also want to be involved in important and big, big decisions. I love how the admins are always getting involved in every decision! Why can't that be me? Maybe it can, after this application. I just want a shot at making my voice heard and a chance at doing something good for this great and noble server. I always feel so insignificant in my everyday life and it would be great to actually have something worth living for. I want to be a friend of the community. An everyday Joe, a dude you could invite over for a barbecue without fear that I'll shoot your dog behind your back. I want everyone to come to me with their problems so that I can solve them. I'm really, really good at solving puzzles. After all, it's the least I can do after what this community has done for me. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I understand the mortality of all things in this transient existence. As I am currently a patient suffering from terminal AIDs, I can understand and acknowledge the fact that one day Aurora is going to fade away, just like any other server in this cruel and unholy world, twisted from the initially holy creation of Allah. Eventually, one day, Aurora is going to fall to the low-rpers and the chucklefucks when its losing battle is finally over. I know this well and it is something that I meditate upon daily, similar to how an admin I look up to who works on this server meditates upon the honorable code of the samurai. I will not, however, let Aurora go without a fight. I will fight the good fight as hard and as long as I can to preserve this beautiful oasis in this cesspool called SS13. I swear upon it. I will work hard everyday to ensure that each and every player of this server, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, etc.. will be able to find peace and harmony in this ephemeral passing moment. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I think I handle it fairly well! Whenever I get angry, I immediately notice because I start to sweat and my face starts to get really really red. Whenever this happens, I grab my asthma inhaler that I placed next to my desk in anticipation that I'll get angry and save myself from death. Smart, right? This is pretty tiring because I have to do it all the time so I've set up a little machine to automatically dispense hot pockets into my mouth when I press a button next to my rig. I've got it well figured out, I believe. I just need to look into installing a catheter so that I don't have to get up to go to the bathroom so often. Anything Else You Want to Add:

One thing I would like to say is that I don't believe the "consistent history of playing racist caricatures" part in the ban reason was accurate. Shlomo Goldstein was my attempt at a Jewish chaplain that I tried out for one single round (and perhaps took a little bit too far, which resulted in me deciding to stop playing him) and Tyreese Lenoir was a serious character of mine that I very rarely played as. 99% of the times, I was a bald 30 year old grey assistant so I again don't think it's realistic to believe my characters are racist caricatures. I hope this did not really factor into your decision.

My apologies. I like to say that I have aids so that I can better imagine myself in my character's shoes (and thus better roleplay) but I understand that perhaps I was being a tad excessive. I did not know that people were genuinely against me for stating that I have aids - in fact, whenever I posted, people seemed to encourage me and that gave me incentive to say that I have aids. I'm actually a bit artistic in real life and I have trouble distinguishing when people are and aren't being serious.

Ah, I see. That's the reason why? I take back most of what I said in the OP. I would've appreciated it if you had told me that you were going to ban me for saying that I have AIDS when you PMed me about it. Well, anyways, how do you know that I wasn't seriously trying to roleplay a character with AIDS? That excerpt from the time I said that my character has AIDS in the Medbay shows that I was using proper grammar and trying to support my claim.

I was permanently banned (inb4 arpeers rejoicing in replies to this thread) due to the reasons stated in evidence/logs/etc. While I believe that the ban itself is at the very least semi-debatable, this complaint isn't about that. I'm irked by other matters. This was out of nowhere. Not out of nowhere as in, nobody has ever said anything about this before, but out of nowhere in the literal sense. I received no message nor notification that I was going to receive a ban. Nothing. I tried to join the server today and, to my mild surprise, was banned. My main complaint is that this ban was placed upon me when two complaints concerning me were still open and yet not officially resolved by a decision from the staff. Why? Could it not have waited until the complaints were over? It wasn't made perfectly clear that I had done something wrong or not because the complaints were still pending. Why make a premature move? Those two complaints, one of them anyway, were still very much alive and kicking. Make a decision after they are over. Even though I said this complaint isn't about the ban itself, which it isn't, I think that the ban was very dubious if I was banned based upon those complaints because it was basically proven that I dindu nuffin in one of the complaints (the person who made the complaint against me for ruining his antag experience even had a complaint against himself for ruining the antag experience of another person, lmao) and both of those complaints were really just substantiated by people who had a personal agenda against me rather than a real reason to complain. And, again, there's the fact that they were still pending. If by chance those two complaints really did move the staff to ban, I'm disappointed. I would've liked for there to have been a discussion based directly around my behavior that would've decided my fate rather than two questionable complaints on my in-game actions accomplishing what the former should've done. If needed, we could have that discussion right here. Basically, to boil it down, I don't think the ban was issued in a correct and justified manner or on the correct time. Evidence/logs/etc: Ban message - Consistent history of playing non-serious, borderline racist chararicatures, AIDS carrying characters, and not a single ounce of improvement over months of time. Additional remarks: I knew the aids would claim me one day. At least it happened while I was still young, beautiful and strong.
