Replicators, converting energy into matter and can create many things. This would be a mid-late research project, and would be a form of alternative to an autolathe. The research unlocks the circuit board. Initially it'd only start out with whatever can be created by autolathes, circuit imprinters, and protolathes. The way they'd get more 'blueprints' is by having items scanned into them, which they can then replicate. The replicator's 'fuel' is an energy cell inside of it, and can't be wired into the grid. An unhacked replicator would be unable to replicate weapons, chemicals, et cetera. Though, once hacked, these safeguards are removed and most things can be scanned and replicated. What this adds is a mid-end alternative to an autolathe, creating a bit less dependence on mining and also allowing burdens to be eased (chefs scanning ingredients or dishes, engineers replicating new materials, etc.) Of course, this would be a balancing act with how much energy cell charge each item takes, and what should be impossible to replicate.

We're reviving this, on the second edition of the modpack, Space Astronomy 2. Feel free to drop by, back and better than ever.
-
Okay so, I found a mudpack that has a weird amount of similarity to ss13 mechanics. Stuff like... Chemistry Genetics Atmospherics (albeit basic) Varied foods Huge engineering/tech mods Tinker's Construct This actually has a few mod similarities to the old Minecraft medieval thing Xander did, and that was a good mod compilation. there's also the entire Earth solar system, as well as a second Sirius solar system. But how do I join the spess race, you ask? Well, you see, first you gotta download this: https://mods.curse.com/client or the FTB launcher if you so choose. Next, hunt down the 'Space Astronomy' mudpack. It should preprogram the official servers into your server browser, and I'm currently set up on the 'Space 4' server. It'll probably take forever to get to spess, but once we do, we gotta go ham, guys. Discord at https://discord.gg/375fZay pls come around thanks.

Reporting Personnel: Harriet Ablian Rank of Reporting Personnel: Quartermaster Game ID: bNF-dh8Y Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Nazari Za'fir, Miner: Offender (Complete Garbage) - Azza Nazkiin, Security Officer: Witness (Snoopy11) Time of Incident: Real time: around 7:10-7:40CST, 3/25/2017 Location of Incident: Mining, Departures Hallway, Departures, Transfer Shuttle Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct [x]Other Failing to follow superior's orders. Overview of the Incident:I was playing music from a jukebox, receiving all around positive reactions from the crew. Za'fir, instead of asking me about the music, comes over, and disables the jukebox. Later, they return and unsecure the jukebox, hauling it all the way to the mining shuttle before I noticed they were a miner and ordered them to return the jukebox. There was a couple of instances of turning off the music after that, and I relocated the jukebox to departures for the impending shuttle. Za'fir unsecured the jukebox again, and ran it all the way to mining, refusing orders to return it. I recovered it and proceeded back to the shuttle. During shuttle flight, Za'fir came into the rear cargo area, pulled me out of the room, and began pushing me out whilst messing with the jukebox. I began to respond, and security intervened, removing Za'fir from the room. As I tried to make my exit, I found the door welded shut. I attribute this to Za'fir, although I'm not entirely sure. I unwelded the door and went into Central. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: I was unable, as it didn't escalate until the very end of the shift. Actions taken: Security ejected Za'fir from the cargo area of the shuttle, but made no attempt to arrest them. Additional notes: (If there are none simply leave it blank)

BYOND Key: sdtwbaj Total Ban Length: 3 days Banning staff member's Key: Garnascus Reason of Ban: Firing a machine pistol when a restart began. Reason for Appeal: I managed to lose my cursor on my screen, and in the process of looking for it, clicked, since the byond window was deselected. It turned out my cursor was in the game area, and fired the gun. I was going to close byond, since a restart was happening.

I like the way cloning is fleshed out now, especially since rounds can last upwards of 2 1/2 hours. If it really needs to be limited, we could up the decay rate and make decayed bodies unable to clone, forcing you to find that body and clone it in short order.
-
I'd support a reduction if not outright unban, but there should be an antag ban in place. The rules of escalation were fairly ignored here, not even the bare minimum of making a threat so that Security tried to engage. As for window glitching, you can't really blame the guy, right? It was a bug, but it's a thing that works. It should be addressed to make that /not/ work if we're going to ban people for it.

That is indeed exactly how it has been for as long as I've been buying things from cargo. It was reinforced by the warden during that round that the purchase was legitimate on my end, and I held property rights to it. The only reason it was ever contested is because the QM wasn't putting the funds into station accounts. Had he been, it'd have been a fully legitimate purchase. e: After a little research, it would probably belong to the security department, meaning the CMO still had absolutely no place to have me hand them over to Medical. -

I do agree that Troy is pretty jovial and energetic, but he doesn't hand out undeserved shit to someone, and I can't remember when he legitimately tried to goad a fight. Perhaps it was one of his many casual jokes. e: Ah, you're the one who filed the incident report that I was included in. That seems to be your only experience of me/Troy, and a skewed one at that. -

By far I play Troy the most, as that sec officer. I play Harriet if there's literally no engineers, and Lolly if there's no chef. I found it easier to write a backstory for Harriet though, because I already had a fleshed out idea before I created her on Aurora, as opposed to bringing something from scratch. -
BYOND key: sdtwbaj Character names: Lolly Vause, Harriet Ablian, Troy Trulock, Lexa Everheart How long have you been playing on Aurora?:A little over a month. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to help improve people's experience on the server and helpfully guide the department I head for maximum efficiency. I also wanna do mini-events. Everyone loves mini-events. Why did you come to Aurora?: The systems really appealed to me, as well as the RP atmosphere. Coming from Goon and Paradise, it's a big break from the chaotic greytide. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is immersing yourself in a character, to the point where you are thinking as the character. Something like improve acting. I think of roleplay as just a more serious way to immerse yourself, to really create the experience of being that 2d spessman. It's a feat, but it's a large part of immersion for those who are weary of the greytide, the random toolboxing, the incompetent crewmembers. It's a framework that makes the game all that much more enjoyable. It should be about having fun, and about playing your role because you enjoy it. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To provide guidance and oversight. similarly to a manager or in some cases even a teacher. They're the ones accountable for their department, as they're also the perceived experts OF their department. It's someone looked up to, both ICly and OOCly, for enlightenment on the game, how to do things, and how to be a good medic/engineer/officer/etc. Ultimately, they're also the sociable ones, the ones that probably should represent the 'face' of the game, in a way. They're the ones who jump in to help, the ones who are entrusted to take the role with care and keep the station running smooth. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players serve as people who are seen as knowledgeable in the game, and upstanding members of the community. It's a symbol of sorts. You're a representative of the community, because in a role like that you stand out, and you shouldn't take something like that lightly. As a whitelisted player, I am here to make the game better for others while having some fun of my own, something that I'm definitely in to. There is great RP to be had, and whitelisted players are great perpetuators of the roleplay atmosphere. I want to perpetuate that atmosphere, and create a good time for everyone. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Harriet Ablian Character age: 33 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Harriet was born in a now-destroyed station's medical ward at 03:27am. The station was simply called 'The Trident'. It specialized in many aqua and slime related research and endeavors. Naturally, as she grew up, she drifted toward the science and the medicine behind it. As she grew, she learned more about the space around her, and about NanoTrasen. She didn't think much of it for awhile. She completed some basic science and engineering education, and chartered a spot on a shuttle heading for a system recruitment center. At the SRC, she applied to many corporations in the Tau Ceti system, eventually being employed by Einstein as an Engineer, with full free education. However, she proved to not fit well at the company, when her employment benefits were jeopardized by an intern being flung through a window by a damaged atmospherics pipe, which she had previously been found not at fault for. She handed in her resignation the next day, her supervisor thankfully understanding and willing to give a good recommendation. She found herself applying to NanoTrasen some time later, and apparently the supervisor was such a great recommendation that they offered her to direct the engineering team aboard the Exodus. She accepted the employment, and took to learning NanoTrasen's infrastructure. Within the next six months, she'd be fielded and ready to go. What do you like about this character?: I like that she speaks her mind when it comes to her. She doesn't hesitate to throw shade, or tell someone off if she feels the need. What do you dislike about this character?: Nothing. I wouldn't play a character that I disliked, especially when the character is an amplified version of me. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She's able to think through things to some degree, and because she isn't hesitate or take others' feelings into consideration as much, she's incredibly efficient. Some call her a sociopath, that's not quite true, she's just quite eccentric. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: A good 8/10. I've been into serious roleplay for the last couple years, and it's definitely something that's always beckoned to me. Extra notes: None, really.

BYOND key: sdtwbaj Character names: Lolly Vause, Harriet Ablian, Troy Trulock How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A few days. At the SRC, she applied to many corporations in the Tau Ceti system, eventually being employed by Einstein as an Engineer, with full free education. However, she proved to not fit well at the company, as due to disagreements she ended up in about 75,000 credits in debt due to refusing to train an engineering intern, who caused a breach while trying to wire a solar, by being flung through a window because of an atmospheric rush when he didn't handle the airlock correctly. She was eventually found by NanoTrasen. They had learned of her debt, and said they would be willing to pay it off for her in exchange for a ten-year employment contract. She reluctantly accepted, and was flown to CentComm, where she was tested, given authorizations, and shipped off to a station. They gave her significantly better benefits, meaning for now she is wholly willing to do her job to her fullest. What do you like about this character?: I like that she speaks her mind when it comes to her. She doesn't hesitate to throw shade, or tell someone off if she feels the need. What do you dislike about this character?: She's so sporadic, she doesn't always think things through to the highest degree. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She's able to think through things to some degree, and because she isn't hesitate or take others' feelings into consideration as much, she's incredibly efficient.
