  1. Well, I really can't remember, nor can I imagine myself actually asking a Roboticist to de-sync me from the AI, as it would be against the rules of Androids. I do remember being de-synced by the Research Director once, who knew the AI was malfunctioning, and tricked my Android, saying that they'd improve its cell. It was the round where the AI kept trying to re-hack into me, which led to the RD stripping me to a positronic brain. I tend to communicate fairly well with AIs, I may've missed the Robot chat in the past while concentrating on surgery, or repairs, and that'd be my fault. But never would I ever blatantly ignore the AI. And I actually do pay attention to the manifest, and I end up switching between engineering, research, medical and rarely mining. The reason what may've made you think I select a module without looking at the manifest is that if there are no engineers and roboticists present, I choose the Research module. Since it has the wrench tool, I can wrench the cannisters down, shoot the engine, clean the area, and then open my cover and reset myself to another module using the scientific gripper. There have been rounds where I'd switch between engineering and medical once every half an hour to fill in both at deadhour. I'd not like to say that you're wrong, but there may be just a couple of unpleasant experiences and misunderstandings that happened between us. But I will pay attention to what you said, nevertheless.
  2. Yes, that was the main concern with me as well, that it was looking a bit techno-punkish. If you guys think so as well, I think we can change something here: -because I think the stripes there are what makes it look like a hostile creature. Do you think if we paint it over to a plain decal, that it'd fit the server's theme better?
  3. BYOND Key: AlFalah Character name: E.V.E (Emergency Vehicular Engineer) , Engineering Android Item name: E.V.E's unique chassis. Why is your character carrying said item to work? Due to unit E.V.E being tasked with extended operations outside of the station to commence repairs on solar components, the hull, and other components, its threaded legs were being worn out in the sandy terrain, and didn't have usually have the necessary grip to climb up steep hills and et cetera. After a quick upgrade, it was also seen fit that the Android would receive a slightly larger material storage tank, and increased weight, to assist it in its operations. Its brain being placed in an experimental chassis with six legs, capable of digging themselves into the sand for a better grip, a large storage on its back, and added weights to its legs, it was set to remain outside of the station for elongated periods, and be as efficient as two engineers, if not more. Item function(s): ICly, it's for upgraded stability and grip, but mechanically it's a sprite change. Item description: Flavor Text: A large, mantis-like Engineering Android, which skitters swiftly with faint, mechanical hisses evoking from its legs' hydraulics. Its' beady emerald visors are have no pupils, and evoke a gentle, constant whir. Its two curled arms are connected to its body with small rails, where it withdraws and stores its tools. On its back appears to be a large synthesizer under its thick armour. Its female voice is robotic, and slightly distorted, yet clear and understandable. Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Being a weird, slightly snooty, but loyal and helpful Android, I feel like a chasis such as this really fits it. The chasis doesn't look too different from what other Engineering Androids look like, but is somewhat unique on its own. I feel like this sprite would draw interest, and generate more RP around the Android. Additional comments: The sprites are completely made and coloured by kyres1 and given to me, who is an amazing spriter, and earns all the credit for them. I've the DMI files for the chasis coloured to fit other modules as well, and will PM them on request.
  4. Reporting Personnel: Evangeline Du Dancion (AlFalah) Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Game ID: bST-aKE9 Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Alex Cooper / Offender - Skylar Lineman / Witness - Faysal Al-Shennawi / Witness / alberyk - Roy Wyatt - VAO the Cyborg / Witness - Olivia Wells / Witness - Ayden Pennington / Witness - Alan Kuster / Witness Time of Incident: Real time: 6:30 GMT Location of Incident: Engineering sub-level, radiator access, and more. Nature of Incident: [X]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury [X]Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary) Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: (Name, rank (Ckey)) Alex Cooper woke up later into the shift, and as I was told by another engineer through PDA messages how he was 'obsessed with the Teslas', I warned him to not set the Teslas up, or I'd have them fired. After returning to my work, I received a PDA message from them, which read: "You can fire me, I'm in engineering.". And I inquired, asked them to elaborate, to which they responded with: "I broke your rule." and "I fired the Teslas.". I responded with: "Acknowledged." and told the HoP, who was Faysal Al-Shennawi. They agreed to the termination, and called Cooper over. Cooper resisted, and thus, myself and Mister Al-Shannawi had to resort to the current security staff: VAO the Cyborg, and Skylar Lineman to arrest him, as I also had discovered that he had not only started the Tesla engine, but had also left the Particle Accelarator on. If the current AI was not quick to react, the balls of energy could've been powered to levels where it'd be impossible to contain them, and few parts of the Tesla were altered, to the point I'd call them sabotaged. Meanwhile, on engineering communications, he was harassing staff, and especially myself, verbally. He resorted into stealing engineering equipment, and leaving the station with EVA gear, and continuing to verbally harass myself. And when he returned for oxygen, he was caught in engineering radiator. There, he rushed for the ladder, ignoring the security officers, after hacking the door bolted behind him, and blocked the ladder while he freed himself of his handcuffs. The security officer and the Android were trapped down with myself. And I flew up with my jet-pack, and started breaching the wall, but he escaped before I could. And after that, there were multiple breaches caused by airlocks left open, in telecomms and in the sub-level, which couldn't have been done by anyone else but Cooper, as the rest of the engineers were constantly with me, and the areas he was in were engineering restricted. And after twenty more minutes of EVA, he stammered a message through the communications, which I couldn't really understand, as we were boarding the Departures shuttle, and he was nowhere to be seen afterwards. Actions taken: (Description of efforts made by the reporter, security, HoDs, and/or Internal affairs to resolve this incident and what you know from others following the chain of command to find a solution to this He was originally intended to be suspended, and the HoP at the time had prepared for his suspension. After his escape, security was alerted, and they pursued him for the rest of the shift, before boarding the shuttle themselves. No Internal Affairs Agent was present at the time.
  5. i'm sorry to be that guy but can't you turn it off?
  6. If you are talking about Eva, not Evangeline, yes. I use the name for my cyborg and sometimes mix it up myself. What ends up happening is instead of playing Cyborg with Eva, (not Evangeline Du Dancion), I go Atmos Tech, and end up cryo'ing to choose cyborg. This happened a scaring amount of five times this week. And yes, I'll essentially do what many of my friends who are also newish into command do, and wait for the round start before choosing CE, in case there is someone more experienced who wants to take the position, even. She is willing to do just what she did before, and I would be more than glad to stick to it myself.
  7. I appreciate the feedback, and I'd like to answer some concerns Ally has stated, as they're pretty valid. I almost entirely play rounds to their entirety, and I am sure other engineering players can agree. You do have a point, though. A CE always needs to be there, and I'll make sure I do not choose it if I think I cannot stay for the entirety of the round. One character listed. Applying for whitelist with that one character. I can count on one hand how many people have actually stuck around after getting their whitelist in situations like that. Do you really only have one character, or do you just focus on one character? By focusing I mean you play that character more and more seriously than other characters you might view as minor. (I have more questions depending on this answer). I do have only Evangeline right now that I'd play in a command role. My other characters are nigh all rookies in their areas, as I've most experience with engineering. If I do feel like I wish to play the head of another department than engineering with another character, I will make sure that I can fulfill the requirements. And as you know, if I do not, there already are consequences for that. Thank you.
  8. BYOND key: AlFalah Character names: Evangeline Du Dancion How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around a month and a half.(?) Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I’ve been playing engineering for the moderate while of a month, and want to escalate my character to become a Chief Engineer. I’ve seen a lack of CE’s in my Euro timezone save Matt, and I think I am experienced now to fill in. I also really enjoy teaching new players, and accommodating them into engineering starting from apprenticeship. Why did you come to Aurora?: A friend brought me to SS13 around two months ago, and Aurora is the first proper server I’ve played on, and I really do enjoy it due to its roleplay, mechanics and its community. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Taking on a fictional character and acting them out. The characters are expected to have a solid, defining personality which’ll shape their behaviour, certain strengths and weaknesses to balance them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff almost always are the ones who provide introduction to departments for new players. They are required to teach the mechanics, requirements and responsibilities of each ambition patiently. They are also tasked with making sure that their department members are not excluded from RP. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: They have power over the members of their department, and are important in terms of the events’ flow. They are ought to be knowledgable in their areas enough to answer most of the questions, and to be able to repair the mistakes their department members may make. They themselves are not expected to know everything that each member of their department do, but should still be able to have enough information to guide a new player to being as knowledgable as any other crew member. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Evangeline Du Dancion Character age: 31 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Born in France in March 7th 2428, Evangeline was born with a birth defect that caused her left arm to be underdeveloped, and shriveled, to a medical doctor mother and an engineer father. At the age of four, her parents divorced peacefully, and since her mother was earning more, it was decided that she was the one who were to pay the court money. Her father promply refused the money, only wishing to see Eva often. And with her mother leaning over Eva due to her disability, to keep her away from harm, she always wished her to become a doctor like herself. Yet it was to her surprise when Eva chose engineering as her ambition, after her shriveled arm was amputated, to be replaced by a synthetic one. While in the university of Cerus, studying Atmospherics, she was taken in to be a Teaching Assistant in 2447, under a professor who also originated from France. She stayed in the college dormitories with Mia Parker. As she was showing success in her academics, her mother offered her to be an academic staff member, which was much safer than being an engineer. She promptly accepted, and got a doctorate’s degree in electro-atmospherics, then being employed by the same university as an Assistant Professor. After working for around a year and a half, professors’ monthly salaries were cut drastically, which caused her to resign and seek employment with NT, preferring to work with her close friend, Mia Parker on the Aurora. And after some time, she has pushed forth her application to become a Chief Engineer, to run the station at peak levels of performance. What do you like about this character?: She is rather cold-blooded, and tends to recognize the mistakes of her crew-members as opportunities to learn, rather than blatant errors. She has the harsh attitude of a teacher’s at most times, but makes sure that everyone is safe and distressed. She has an awful sense of empathy, which makes the pep talks and what-not hilarious. She is seen calling Station Aurora “her’s” in many occasions, as if she had developed a deep bond with it. And according to her, the station always requires fixing and upgrading until it has reached perfect conditions. What do you dislike about this character?: Since she is not one to empathise, and is usually seen ordering engineers cold-bloodedly, getting progressively colder with each time she has to repeat herself. She has that thin line for patience, where she gets extremely volatile and infuriated if someone interferes with her work. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She is disciplined, cold-blooded and experienced in both engineering and command (to a degree). She usually tries to assume command as an Atmos Technician when there is no Chief, and organizes people efficiently. She is incredibly efficient, and does her best to minimize unnecessary expenses, and will strongly advise her crew members to do the same. She is always be prepared, and always believes that proper preparation makes or breaks worlds. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Around 7/10, I’ve directed few events on another roleplaying server on another platform, yet I am still trying to adapt myself fully in the half-mechanic half-RP style of Aurora. Extra notes: Feel free to write to me with your feedback either as a response to the post, or in private messages.
  9. Yisheng is a wonderful medic, and I had many pleasant encounters with him. I was also present at the encounter of your engineer and the visitor, playing Evangeline Du Dancion. I didn't really see you doing anything absurd, apart from that whole horse-mask thing, which was slightly uncalled for. But, I am willing to overlook that instance due to your knowledge on the shields and engines. Does have my full support.
  10. diona with a purple cloak please do it
  11. Ckey/BYOND Username: AlFalah Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Wiki Developer Past Experiences/Knowledge: Have been a wiki developer for about a year and a half for a popular server on Minecraft (please don't kill me Garn) , and mainly worked on pieces of lore and acquired art for their pages. Examples of Past Work: Some arcane magic, entirely written by myself. Dark spooky magic, almost entirely my work. Discount fire-bending, entirely my work as well. Please note that I've not written the lore that is present on these pages but rather wrote them wiki articles. The original pieces of the lore written by their respective authors can be found at their wiki pages. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord, will give my account name in private. Additional Comments: I've very limited knowledge on the server's lore, and I've joined the server in about two weeks ago. Which is why I was browsing the wiki pages, giggling at the hidden jokes in them and all. Yet I figured that it could be made significantly better with more, and broader pages about some jobs, and gamemodes. I do not mean to just jump in and start editing things wrongly, as i'm a real newbie, but I wish to learn and contribute in transferring lore and guides to the wiki, and use my non-professional, moderate knowledge in Photoshop to help out with with images. Cheers.
