To clarify, I approved it with insight from the people listed above. EDIT: Also, my input is that being loyalty implanted leaves room for what it means to be loyal. Yes, preserving NT assets factors into this, but that could also be extended to preserving the lives of the crew (which are valuable in their own way). Even with the Loyalty Implant, I think it would be justifiable to evacuate....and I'm 99% sure I've seen it down in previous rounds with no complaints.

Lord Fowl's Dionaea Whitelist

'Two Bears, Arms Together' seems a bit too Fallout like. Change the name and I have no problem accepting this. -
** For simplicity's sake, all playable, non-human races/species/IPCs will be referred to as a 'race', 'races' or 'aliens'. I know this isn't technically correct, but it makes things 1000% easier to explain ** Ok, so the last thread has been locked as I move the discussion here. And it's time for a new poll regarding how we should handle alien whitelists. My thoughts on how to potentially handle alien races being heads on the station is that Aurora is being touted as being an 'equal workplace' for all races (also explains the high alien pop we have). This would allow alien characters to play heads while still experiencing IC racism or discrimination. I think this has the potential to satisfy both parties Please continue to weight in, but, as always, be RESPECTFUL. Understand that you (the player) are not your character and if someone insults them they are not insulting or oppressing you. On the flip side, know that some of the alien players just want a chance to create new and interesting rp stories with their established characters. Please keep in mind that the admin and lore team is only using these polls as a baseline for discussion. Why these polls and comments do have an impact, they are not the final factor in determining how we will weight in on the issue.

Cassie brings up some good points, and it raises further questions about the roleplay vs fun debate that, believe me, myself and others have be having amongst ourselves for awhile. I might make a thread on that topic where we can move the discussion. Anyways... I really want one question answered: what does te player lose by not being able to play an IPC head of staff? I'm talking the ooc player not the ic character. I'm not trying to come off as mean, I'm really look for an answer. I've asked the question before and have not gotten a direct answer. The option to make a human head of staff is always available.

I'd be interesting in knowing where else you've moderated. I only ask out of curiosity and also cause I have experience moderating outside of ss13 too. -
But there's nothing for people to base their opinions off of. That's like people voting for a law that hasn't been written yet. It's more like people debating a law in the process of being written. There's two clear options: for or against ipc's being heads of staff. I think I see your point, so let me clarify some things that are set in stone: IPCs are AIs that are free from any lawset and are inserted into a positronic chassis IPCs for all intents and purposes are sentient and sapient (although people don't always view them as such) IPC tech is fairly recent; IPC's are fairly new Posibrain tech is fairly new Everything else is up in the air. Covvy can probably weigh in more.

Yes, IPC lore is still being written. And because it is being written this is the PERFECT time to get some feedback on the issue. The way it's being written may change depending on the opinion of our server at large. This very much stoped being an IC issue when people started throwing around accusations and insults in the last thread. The only purpose of this thread is the gauge the opinions of the community at large, so the lore team can determine whether or not this is actually a major issue or if it was blown out of proportion. This isn't a part of a personal vendetta against anyone, and I feel like every action I take is seen as some sort of personal attack or just a desire to validate my own opinions on the matter (which I swear to you I am absolutely not doing).

Inspired by talks I've had with people on the dreaded ss13 sub-reddit. Here's a vote. If there's a clear majority, I'll side with them. Easy-peasy. And imma lock the thread the second comments get out of control. Actually this isn't even the place for comments. I'm just trying to gauge community wide opinion, raw numbers. Regarding Players asking me Questions or for Input

Talking with a few people, I'm getting the impression that those who don't directly interact with me over TS or in chat think I'm some like, super angry violent person who will yell at them for every question or comment they have. Just want to make it clear that I will never yell at someone for asking me a question one on one. At the same time, I can't guarantee the answer or feedback you get you will agree with...that's on your end. Still, I try to be as respectful as possible. Also, sometimes I criticize characters in TS but 9 times out of 10, it's a character I love to hate, like Vittorio Giggleandshitsfrio. One more thing, and I really need to stress this: just ask the question, don't beat around the bush. I get messages where it's like 'may i please ask you a question?'', and I'm like 'what?!'. It just seems redundant. Save both of us time, just send me the question

I'm willing to whitelist this if 1) you don't use the all-caps name and 2) Turn down the snowflake just a bit. NT probably wouldn't put a assassin IPC on the station. -
People have been giving great reasons for why IPCs should be heads, and I actually agree with some of them, OOCly. However, ICly the universe is not perfect. Prejudices exist, things are not fair and people have differing opinions. IPCs are relatively new and so the public at large is still unsure how to deal with them. They /may/ be able to develop emotions or the synthetic equivalent but prejudice exists against 'the machines', maybe not the kind that involves firebombing but people concerned that an IPC, seen as a robot or android, could be their boss. There's also the matter of making the races fundamentally different, in terms of background and playstyle. The IPC prejudice is a part of the backstory, and allows them to be played differently. Apart of this prejudice is the head restriction. As Skull and I have stated before, we're both more than willing to discuss this issue in a private voice or text chat client. Just shoot us a message.

You don't need to leave. No one is mad at you or anything. And if they are, it doesn't really matter. IPCs can't be heads. Other aliens can be certain heads of staff but they aren't put on a pedestal or anything. I'm wondering why you really want to be a head IPC so badly. You're more than welcome to make a human character a have them be a head (assuming you have the whitelist), and you can give them a bland or robotic personality. Skull and I are open to discussing this over Teamspeak or some voice chat (Skull here: instant text also works, just something away from the godawful shite of writing paragraph upon paragraph and replying with a paragraph upon paragraph, with 4 points being brought out at once) if you want. Just message us if you wanna set something up.

I kinda like that a quirk in her programming makes your IPC have sort of a 'simulated' attitude. Accepted.
