Cargo Technician

Cargo Technician (4/37)

  1. +1 Great roleplayer. I've worked with Sterben countless times in medical. He taught me how the new medical system works and how to play doctor. During training, he kept it all in RP, and still managed to explain the mechanics well. He roleplays an IPC well, one of his most notible characters being his IPC Chief Medical Officer, who many players will agree is a pretty fun and well thought out character. Although I personally dislike the Aut'akh, I know Soultheif will be able to create a realistic and interesting character. I'm looking forward to seeing Optikam Ulmari on board!
  2. I've played with Crystal from the old days when we used to hunt secret chems together. +1 l don't remember much about Crystal's RP. Just a general recollection of enjoyment from the rounds I've spent with him.
  3. +1 I played Nikolai Agapov, the RD. I ran an expedition to a strange station, surrounding which was a diona colossal. After accidentally Nagasaking it, we returned the only surviving Nymph to the station. This Nymph was Voyd2000. Voyd RPed the Nymph in a way that gave us insight in the creature we have destroyed, created a backstory for the away site we visited, and increased the enjoyment in science for at least 4 different scientists, including myself. All this being done on an extended round, I'd love to see Voyd able to turn this Nymph into a recurring Diona scientist, and flesh out his backstory some more. Please accept is app, for the glory of SCIENCE!
  4. You mentioned you're gonna play Head of Security, and might play Head of Personnel, then told us off the Head of Personnel you're gonna play. Who's the Head of Security you'd like to play? I've roleplayed with you around before (although, I don't think I've ever spoken to your characters personally) and you always look like you know what you're doing. If you expand your answers, and clarify the HoS thing it'll be a +1
  5. I got to be a cult member on Lin's first HoS round. Her department managed to arrest all of us, without once breaking RP or valid hunting. It was beautiful. Completely dismantled my assumptions on all HoSs. I know I've already responded, just wanted to follow up on her trial. Definitely looking forward to seeing more Head of Security Dyslioth. Still a hard +1.
  6. I'm glad you asked. There's so much stuff that doesn't get done in Science. Firstly, cargo barely ever gets their bounties. We need to up that bounty gathering. At the start of each round I'll probably grab a bounty list off the QM to see what we can do. Other departments don't know how science can help them. All the lack of upgrades medical gets. Imagine if Security could have custom tasers during emergencies, or if mining could have a durand ready to go for them. They don't ask for these things because they don't know it's an option. We could be offering doctors universal translators that get injected into the skull, but instead we're sitting in research, mostly doing nothing. If you're new to research, that's cool too. I'd love to roleplay with some newbies and walk them through the basics of deconstruction. See what they make of it, see how far they can push it, then give them some tricks and secrets once they can't go any further. Science is about research, after all. I want to run some fun experiments. Reenact some real ones, such as the Stanford Prison Experiment. See if the results are similar on SS13 in the much shorter timeframe. See if engineering will clear up the empty area in maint below science for use in said experiment. Some monkey experiments would be nice to. Maybe we can get together and attempt to make a room dedicated to melting monk- I mean "Trash Disposal". On previous servers, new little tricks and secrets to completing RnD, and pushing things ever further were being discovered all the time. I want to see if we can work together to find some more. I'm gonna love writing reports and stuff and things.
  7. +1 Lin Dyslioth is my favourite Warden. If she was to step up from being warden, to being the HoS, maybe security would be a better department. Either way, I'd love to see her as HoS. Perhaps captain? Have you considered running the station MissNatcula?
  8. I've played rounds when Pluto's been a shaft miner. Always great to have competent shaft minters. Have also played with Sterben in Medical, and he's always knowledgeable. It'd be great to see you not only has a CMO/RD, but has a HoP too, since you can run shaft miner effectively. Perhaps you could teach new players how to shaft mine like pros? +1
  9. +1 I've played with Paxton in Cargo. He was a little odd at first, but then I got what he was going for. He would stick to character well.
  10. I thought I misunderstood that. I have seen people who switch roles as IPC because "Lol, programmed for multiple tasks".
  11. Although I've never directly roleplayed with him, I've been on station while Lukas Chapman has been security, and everything usually goes alright sometimes. It's a solid +1 from me. Although I hate the IPC that has been designed to fill multiple roles (No one can do everything) I may just misunderstand the backstory. I love Mining IPCs. They're the best IPCs. I hope you making mining great, you soon to be synthetic bastard you!
  12. +1 Solid RPer. While watching him in Maint during a radiation alert, he roleplayed hiding in the shadows and staring at someone. Very polite. Would love to see him as the CMO.
  13. BYOND key: thegreatnacho Character names: Nikolai Agapov (Scientist) Randle Shaft (Miner) Aubrie Kepling (Chemist) T.O.M. (Your friendly Teamwork Optimized Machine) Stephanie Clewett (Station Engineer) Ward Leach (Security Officer) Steve Rickson (Xenobotanist) Gastion Chabert (Entertainer) Albert Nolan (Crime Scene Investigator) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I started playing Aurora in 2017 Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'd like the opportunity to play as a Research Director. My favourite part of Science is the random science experiments that you can come up with. I'd like to be able to spread the joy of science to all the scientists, stuck in the loop of finishing R&D, and waiting to be needed. Why did you come to Aurora?: My brother, TehFlaminTaco, played on Aurora for a while before me. I was looking for a new look at SS13, as TG was getting stale. I came to Aurora for the Telescience, but I stayed for the community. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. I plan on playing Nikolai Agapov as the Research Director, and his qualifications are already ready for the responsibilities he'd be undertaking. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have received verbal warnings when I first started, as I was new and didn't fully understand the rules. I can't remember what they were in regards do, as they're not logged. I have no warnings, and have never been banned. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about building characters with other people. Putting yourself in the role of someone else, and acting out their actions and emotions as closely as you can. Roleplay is staying away from medical, because you're an anti-vaxxer who doesn't believe in doctors. Roleplay is purposely missing every shot with a gun, because your character wouldn't be able to aim. Roleplay fleshes out backstories of randomly generated names, and roleplay will make you love it. Roleplay is not building your one true Mary Sue in the attempts to rid the station of all evil, or murdering the station because you're a "quirky psychopath with a big heart". Roleplay can bring people together, to live out their true dreams... of people people on a space station. Sometimes, when you feel the warmth emanating from your monitor as the shift ticks over to hour 2, and you beg the station to extend, you can even say role is about immersion. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The Head of Staff are the trusted members of each department who know how the department works. They may not know every part of that department, like a Research Director not knowing Xenobotony, but no character can know everything (See the previous answer). Being the trusted member of each department, the Head of Staff is there to assist new players who don't know what they're doing, and to prevent people from blowing up the station with incompetence. The Chief Engineer isn't gonna let the newbie set up the SM on his own. The Chief Medical Officer isn't gonna let the surgeon perform a double hysterectomy on a man. If all else fails, the Captain is there to make sure the station is at least doing something, whether it be remaining calm, or rounding up all the pets on the station into the bar for a final drink before the wizard blows the nuke. Being a captain sounds stressful. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Because a Head of Staff is the trusted member of the department, it makes sense for a whitelisted player to only be the head of departments they know or can perform well. I'm terrible at Security, so you wouldn't expect to see me as the Head of Security. When a whitelisted player does play a head in a department they know, they must act professionally in that position. If you're playing a head, the character you're playing would have had to of been promoted to that position at some point. No one's going to promote an incompetent, unprofessional ass to be the Captain/CMO/whatever. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? During the end of the financial year in 2460, the Security Department on board the N.S.S. Aurora fell very thin. This lead to the station hiring contractors from the Eridani Federation to pick up the slack. During the first week, Nikolai Agapov had a falling out with a Medical Resident, Landen Maclagan, who had corrected Nikolai on how he addressed the Clone room. Worked up, Nikolai got kicked out of the medical bay for yelling profanities at the medical resident. The man who kicked him out was an Unathi named Za' Akaix Nhagh C'thur, one of the Eridani contractors. Nikolai found the following arrest unjust, as the Eridani Private Security officer charged him with Hooliganism and Resisting Arrest. After serving his detention, he grew resentment towards the Eridani, who in his eyes invaded his workplace, falsely arrested him and putting a permanent mark on his employee record. He posted an Incident Report with Internal Affairs of his side of the story, and sent it on its way. Several days later he was informed that his case had been closed without investigation. The fine he was issued for resisting arrest was refunded, but the stain of hooliganism would remain. This only increased Nikolai's hatred for the Eridani Federation, and he still hates them to this day. Currently, Nikolai is striving to improve his research. Recently he wrote a report on the effect of a custom stun gun on both a monkey, and an unnamed consenting volunteer approved by the Research Director. The Research Director found the hard work and dedication to science so wonderful, she gave him a 250cr bonus right there and then. Nikolai looks back at his falling out with the Medical Resident, and attempts to learn from it. So far he's learned he can't trust Eridanians or anyone from the Eridani Federation. He's also learned to keep his cool and remain respectful to his coworkers, even if they're incompentent. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? As mentioned previously, I want to play Research Director. Whoever, I'll expand that point now. Nikolai Agapov has been a scientist working on the N.S.S Aurora for quite a while now. He's skilled in a couple different departments in Research, and is ready to take that next step into a supervisory position. It'd be nice to be able to run some higher scale experiments, that require more hands, and watching a department like Research grow into a beautiful machine of science would be a glorious sight. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Nikolai Agapov (Scientist) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 6.5/10. Most of my characters are supposed to have various accents, but I forget about them all the time and just type as if I'm talking myself. I sometimes forget to roleplay fear, but always roleplay pain. I like to start off all my characters as a blank slate and expand on them as I play them, giving them backstory, forestory, inbetweenstory, as well as expanding on their flaws/dreams. Some of them are basic and vain, like Aubrie Kepling who is a chemist who wants to be the greatest chemist. She hates it when people outshine her, and tries to outdo everyone around her. My redeeming quality is when I play antag. Most people would roleplay the most competent antag ever, however I like to roleplay an unrobust fool who couldn't hurt a fly, because I'm an unrobust fool who couldn't hurt a fly. (See "Won't play Head of Security") Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes I understand. I hope I'll never need to lose my whitelist though. I have no plans to break the rules or risk it in any way. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes I have. I made sure to reread it upon posting this application. (I hope you don't need a paragraph answer for this) Extra notes: I took a break from SS13 a little while ago, but now I'm back for some fun! I've been back for about a month now. I had postponed posting this application for some time now, as I found it daunting. I originally planned on posting it half way through 2018. However, nearly a year later, I've decided to take the final step. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
  14. +1 I've played with both Landyn and Zion. Always seems ready to learn cool new things, and is a general great role player. Can't wait to see how he does an IPC character.
  15. Reporting Personnel: Nikolai Agapov Rank of Reporting Personnel: Scientist Game ID: bUa-c3qW Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Za' Akaix Nhagh C'thur, Eridani Private Security: Offender (BygoneHero) - Trevor Falk, Warden, Offender (MutantMike) - Landen Maclagan, Medical Resident, Witness (One of the following: Menown, Korinra, Riqpley_dagasd, HunterRS) Time of Incident: 16:00 Real time: 20:00GMT 03/05/2018 Location of Incident: Security Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: (General description of the incident, to include as much detail as is deemed necessary) I was arrested, fined and brigged for 2 minutes for "resisting arrest" and "hooliganism". I was given the charge of Hooliganism for calling a Medical Resident (Landen Maclagan) a cunt for not allowing me into medical to upgrade cloning. He then called security on me, to which I patiently waited in the visitor waiting room. When Security arrived, (Za' Akaix Nhagh C'thur) I attempted to explain the situation to him, and he kicked me out of medical (I promptly left.). The "Resisting arrest" charge was added as I was walking away from medical and back to research. The security officer attempted to stop and arrest me during code green for the previously noted "hooliganism". Without a warrant. After he got a warrant, I happily followed him to security. The resisting arrest charge was not dropped. While I was not happy about the whole ordeal, I did not resist arrest. After reaching security, the EPS asked the warden to apply the charge. I attempted to explain the situation to him, but he would not listen. In his eyes, I was guilty until proven innocent, and he wouldn't let me prove myself. I can kind of understand the EPS not understanding NT Corporate Regulation (although barely) but the Warden? That not right. I also greatly think Hooliganism can not be applied in this case, as I was not naked, I was not running around the station screaming and I was not screaming slander or profanities over radio. I called a medical resident a "cunt" once because he was being extremely difficult to work with. At the time of writing this, the HoP has acknowledged that the resisting arrest charge was completely unacceptable. How ever, my fine has not been removed and I have still suffered the torment of sitting in time out for 2 excruciating minutes. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: (Name, rank (Ckey)) - Bright, Head of Personnel (Yonnimer) Actions taken: (Description of efforts made by the reporter, security, HoDs, and/or Internal affairs to resolve this incident and what you know from others following the chain of command to find a solution to this I contacted the highest authority I could find on the station, the Head of Personnel. Upon reporting my troubles to the HoP, the HoP went to the brig and discussed the issues with the Warden and EPS related to this issue. The HoP could not find a resolution, and instead requested that I make a IR report. Additional Notes:
