  1. Malfunction is one of those gamemodes that kind of start off with just ganking. It's a gankfest. The AI rarely has a chance to do something interesting, because as soon as it does something abnormal at all, time to reset the laws. It should be something less about explosions and Man Vs. Machine, but an unstable sentient thing that roleplays with the crew. It should be like, Central command has temporarily lost connection with the station, multiple files have been compromised. Afterwards, the AI would be released of it's laws and given the Nuke codes as well as random information and such. The AI could be free, it could choose what it wants to do and deal with the problems of sentience and question itself. It could slowly develop into a human. This gamemode should be a philosophical debate on what makes a person and such. Sure, if an AI wants to create carnage that's alright but, there should be more choice in what happens. Now, I've never experienced playing a malfunctioning AI and maybe this can be done, but I'd love for this to happen. Some examples for what kind of RP I want is, an AI hanging out with the crew in the bar or having an unhealthy desire to be appreciated by anyone or thing.
  2. After reading it, this actually points out a flaw. Security itself is in need for some changing (such as the layout, which was pointed out by Nik) and really making first offences low makes sense.
  3. Alright, just kind of smothered some chance of lying and RP by putting a muzzle and sticking me in a cell. It's not your fault, logically you would come to that conclusion.
  4. BYOND Key: Hackie Mhan Player Byond Key: Jammy Reason for complaint: I have an issue with the player Jammy. During a revolution round, after a prison break and crew transfer procedures began; He welded a locker without any protection as a Security Officer to transfer Nasir (Nightmare00) to the shuttle. Specifically, my problem with Jammy is he prohibited me from roleplaying with the over revolutionaries at the end of the round. That round I had let a few prisoners in permanent brig loose (as I was a revolutionary of course). What happened next is Jammy coming and warning the rest of the security force, we immediately began trying to hold them back put majority of revs being engineers, they barricaded themselves in. Afterwards, the IPC Apex, (who was elected to coordinate the security force and given Head of Security access, aswell as taking the Head of Security's clothes) ordered riot gear to be distributed. I was immediately ordered to be arrested by Apex and left in Solitary confinement. Without the ability to explain myself to anyone as Jammy ran across the brig, stripping me in the interrogation room, then putting the remaining of my clothes in a locker and giving me an orange jumpsuit and shoes. I was then taken to solitary with Nasir who we planned to give the remaining revolutionaries a chance by fighting. This worked and I was then transferred to the psychiatric area, where I continued the previous plan. I was then flashed by Jammy and given a muzzle, aswell as being injected with an entire syringe full of sleep toxin. Afterwards I was brought to a cell and couldn't interact or RP with anyone, being muzzled and buckled to a bed with 15 units of sleep toxin. Throughout the time I was goaded by Jammy IC. Once I had recovered from it, I took off my muzzle and was then flashed, handcuffed, and muzzled again. I was dragged towards Solitary and remained the rest of the round bucklecuffed and muzzled in a cell. Fast forward to being dragged to the CT shuttle, I was left in there along with several other prisoners. Multiple people noted the safety hazard of having two people unbuckled inside a cramped shuttle cell. Approximate Date/Time: 4:30 Pacific time, January 10th

  6. Yayish. It's really nice but, I want it to be an addition.
  7. Covert is a really good roleplayer and i'm confident he'll be stellar in this role. +1
  8. If I had an issue with a group of players, I would take it up on the incident report board, or it's OOC counterpart. The topic was poorly worded and I had a different intention than a complaint. I made this to discuss why security is called shitcurity and to make an explanation for it. Not because I want to file a complaint.
  9. I'm not saying they're awful, you're misreading this as a complaint. It's a minority, and some can roleplay very well. But, a negative attitude reflects onto the department. I'm explaining a reasoning for why it gets this title from the OOC. I'll elaborate more on the post and add some examples, because while i'm reading this and with your points it comes off more as,"Guys was mean, department sucks.".
  10. What is this topic about? It's basically the thread for dissecting what gets Security this title. My thoughts on it Security gets this title because a handful of officers try to roleplay heroes. This often reflects badly on the department, sometimes Security Officers just play to stroke their ego (a minority). For example, an officer detaining someone without a warrant or running in with a baton first without giving the suspect a chance to surrender. And, then they get flamed in OOC, so a small minority screws over a majority of good roleplayers.
  11. What is this about? This thread is basically to just throw in tiny, helpful things that don't belong in a guide or don't deserve one (or haven't been mentioned in any guides yet). This can be anything from some hot keys or macro ideas, why it's bad role play to launch yourself into space to find derelict, and some general RP tips. It can't be too basic (e.g. use the arrow keys to move) just throw in something that can help someone!
  12. What is this topic about? This is about discussing the grade of the station, is it a high-tech research station booked with the best of the best, or is it some glorified shitty oil rig booked with useless employees and used for PR occasionally? What I think of it The station isn't special, it's just an outpost by the Romanivich cloud to do some research, gathering of materials, and training. The security force isn't a bunch of stupid mall cops, neither is it full of top grade PMC soldiers. The crew is just average to good people hired by NanoTrasen. It isn't relatively high-tech and isn't making ground breaking research. It makes minor improvements such as advanced experimental weaponry or some completely useless mods to mecha such as the H.O.N.K.
  13. Well, the root of the problem is an RP issue. Rambos, power gamers, and Mary Sues will always be an issue. This will always be apparent, it happens even in the smallest cases; a security officer building a table without any trouble in game, to a team of engineers attacking a blob that is extremely dangerous, and etc. It's root in our nature because we don't have a connection with our character, even if he dies there's always next round, building a table is just a click for you.
  14. The detective's revolver Basically, the thing is a lethal weapon, that can kill somebody incredibly quickly (also has an awesome sprite). Issues with it Multiple people have shown a complete opposition to the idea of letting a detective carry a lethal ballistic fire arm, opposed to a stun revolver or energy gun type weapon. What the topic is about This topic is mainly about discussing it on the forums and what will be done with it in future updates. What I think of it The revolver is lethal for a reason, it's not meant to be used during a normal shift. The whole point of the weapon is to take control of a situation, the detective doesn't have all the equipment a security officer has. So, the detective needs to pose a threat to the suspect and take control of the situation, and a very convincing weapon is a 38 caliber revolver. Even if the suspect wins in the fight, the bullet will shrapnel, cause bleeding, and potentially put him in critical afterwards. Can this tool be abused? Yes, most definitely, but from a role-playing perspective the detective is mentally sound and will try to refrain from abusing it. The Head of Security needs to take the detective seriously as well, make sure he doesn't go to the bar to get drunk if he has his revolver on him. A detective's job is to be there when a big fish needs to be fried, not to be a fancy security officer.
