PM Strom Commemorates Five Years since Civil War’s Start UNITY STATION (GST) - This November is a sorrowful reminder for many Solarians of the Civil War’s start. Five years ago, our nation erupted into chaos as Solarian turned against Solarian, with violence only ending in 2465 following the defeat of the Restoration Front in the Northern Reaches. The prime minister commemorated those lost during the Civil War today in a speech to the assembled Senate. Attached is a video of Strom standing at a lectern in the Senate’s chambers. Flanking him are Senatorial President Sumida, leader of the Senate, and Shadow President Renaud, leader of the opposition. All are grim-faced and serious, and Strom is wearing a pin with the Mictlani flag on it. It is, after all, five years since the start of the Civil War and the devastating defeat suffered in ‘62. “Five years ago,” Strom grips the sides of the lectern, looking much more like the firebrand senator who banned tajara and led the emergency government than Strom the PM and peacemaker, “members of the galactic community stood by and watched as Tau Ceti tore our nation apart by striking our weaknesses and exploiting our divisions. They stood by as our fellow citizens were imprisoned, were murdered, and were turned into corporate equipment by secessionists in Tau Ceti and their corporate sponsors! They saw us as weak, as corrupt, as an easy target to exploit and defeat in detail!” Strom pauses for a moment. This report has dramatically changed from the IGL’s 2466 report, with the Alliance moving from a hybrid authoritarian regime to a flawed democracy. Non-Citizen Riot on Aemaq Seizes Major Chemical Plant NUZHEID, AEMAQ (GST) - Earlier today the Mahammad Aydamir Chemical Plant was seized by non-citizen person rioters previously employed by the plant. Rioters armed themselves with a variety of industrial equipment used in the chemical industry and have demanded the government reverse the Elyran Security Act and cease the deportation of noncitizen criminals to third parties. The Elyran employees of the MACP were able to flee the facility with assistance from a nearby off-duty police officer and the plant’s security guard staff, and the Nuzheid Police Department has established a cordon of the plant with a negotiation team. The singular hostage held by the rioters, a chemical engineer surveying the lower levels, was released shortly after the cordon was established and delivered a copy of the rioters’ manifesto to police given to her by their leader. Resupply Shaft to Iijoki Mine Finished, Miners in “Good Spirits” SEVASCHAIV, VYSOKA (GST) - Himean and Vysokan engineers have announced the successful completion of a resupply shaft to the Iijoki Iron Mine’s Golden Gumori shelter as of earlier this morning. The United Mineworkers’ Alliance project supervisor Jaakko Honkonen advised the resupply shaft was, “a tremendous accomplishment and done in near-record time,” by a team of UMA-certified engineers and mining experts working around the clock. The shaft allows for a several meter long supply tube to be lowered to the mine’s lowest levels and unloaded by the miners, who then load the tube with anything they need disposed of. Senators Move to Found “Freedom from Tau Ceti” Charity UNITY STATION (GST) - A group of cross-party senators led by longtime SPP politician Sen. Erkan Muhtar (LUNA) have announced the formation of a non-government charity with the purpose of assisting those affected by Tau Ceti’s ongoing occupation of Solarian worlds such as Mictlan and Port Antilla.
