I'm back you fuckers!!!! After a long hiatus between a few bits and personal pieces I have now returned. Hopefully we can all continue to potentially kill each other together. Carry on.

I'm hoping that the people involved will be dedicated enough to have everyone contributing to the whole thing

Afternoon all. I'm beginning to pursue the art of GMing. I'll be hopefully running a game based on the fallout series in light of the new announcement. Anyone who has been in a game of D&D or DH will know the story. Basically it Will be fallout 3, following the same basic storyline, and using the GURP system. Either that or I'll write my own story, and we can develop it from there. For those of you who don't have experience in this sort of RP, it's relatively straightforward. You create a character using the set guidelines, which are quite broad, and start out on a set quest, however all the decisions are up to you and the team you are with. I'll cap it at 8 players, and a minimum of 4. Ideally we'd do all this over Skype, and each session can take anywhere from an hour to a whole Day. One spot is reserved for a good friend of mine, and the rest are open. The situations are resolved by dice rolling similar to older RPGs. During a game, most of the situation is pretty much good fun RP mixed with intense debate and action sequences resolved by complicated dice rolling. Skills, which are set to your character upon creation, are taken into account when situations arise. Anyone interested please let me know, and if there is enough interest I'll get a game running. Thanks guys!

I don't suppose that there is any way of implementing money for the server? The current system is very basic and simply for RP. Just a thought on what you can implement for it to be used for. Ideas?

Yeah, I think the ships are a bit small, and a tad understaffed. Going by any other space lore, ships are gargantuan, often assembled in space. I suppose with the way Aurora is run, with the power systems, and a few other factors, size and staff can be scaled down. Is there any way I can get involved with this development Sam? I'm very interested in this.

Week Is too long. One or two days a week. And if favouritism is an issue, that's a separate issue to deal with.
-
One or two days a week, maybe Monday and Thursday on during the day could be good. All day extended. I have a deep hatred of this chairp that goes on especially in the ay lobby. Extended has a habit of boring several in people for two more hours, and if there is no antagonist, there is a stagnation and in turn a lull in activity. Perhaps, if we have a round once a week, where we have an extended with specific picked antags, or someone can ahelp to apply for antagonist. Thoughts?

Just a quick tip, all of your examples of duties are IC duties. They'll be asking you to provide knowledge of what you need to do outside of your departmental duties and outside of character. -
As someone who is following the Lore Team very closely, in want of being inducted myself, I have seen these issues as a third party. I've seen it in OOC chat, occasionally over the forums, and it can often come through in IC too. I think the issue is that both parties are unwilling to yield and find some kind of compromise. On Eric's part, you need to learn that everyone has a place, and there's a place for everyone. Surely the reason they won't accept you is good enough, and there's no reason you can't change your ways a bit, and fit into the mould a bit more. You act like you are entitled to be a part of the Dev team, when there are obviously issues that have not been addressed. On the LoreDev's part, and I'll tar you all with the same brush here, there has been baiting, and unfortunately a few of you responded in what was seen as a harsh manner, and this was used against you. Surely If a proposition was made for Erik to change, then he would make more of an effort, in retrospect to what happened in the past. All in all, I'll repeat the sentiment above me, before going through all the "official" means of solving the solution, have a bit of humanity, and try and talk it down, come to a compromise, and make sure that this community is better off with the decision you've all made, and that most people are happy. Sorry to butt in, but I thought an "Outside Party" might be a benefit.

A little with wikis, but mostly with forums, steam and the like. I have no problem working with that though, and I'm adept with bbcode and formatting. -
Since imagine we've developed further than the whole 8 hours of sleep and only at night style of waking, and the clocks in space are an inter galactic stardate, with a switch to local time when planetary orbit or when one lands on a planet. Since the station is most likely orbitting the planet faster than the planet rotates, there isn't much point in using the planetary time. As it wouldn't make sense.

Quick question, not sure if it's been dealt with before. Would a cyborg, either round starting or created mid round, possess their own memories? An argument can be made that their memories be cleared to reduce the risk of madness. Discuss I suppose.

Name:Martin Xavier Age: 49 Gender: Male Race: Human Title: Financial Comptroller Brief Bio: Growing up in the high rising Financial District on Sol IV (Mars) he was always good with money. His father was the primary financial advisor/comptroller on board the NSS Ara, a high tech defence research station, and in turn, this led to not only a lot of travelling, but a great deal of off hand experience in dealing with financial figures. Always eager to learn, and a very smooth talking individual, he quickly began to follow in his father's footsteps. He always watched his father work, and was fascinated by numbers, and began to develop a real intuitive approach, at times, even at the age of 15, advising his father, and finding different ways to get around financial difficulty. His father, seeing this early initiative and ability, sent him back to Olympia, on Mars, to undertake a degree in accounting. At the age of 24 he graduated with a doctorate in Grand Scale Accounting, and the use of "micro-financing in management of corporate level facilities". Following his postgraduate employment with NanoTrasen, he was granted the title of Internal Affairs Agent aboard the same facility as his father, the NSS Ara, with his speciality being the investigation of improper use of funds aboard a high risk facility. This led to a great skill being developed for finding tiny irregularities in the grand web of finance. After several successful audits, he found that one of the areas money was being siphoned off to, was a leak account that was leaking money, and a information to outside sources. This led to the investigation of the Financial Controller of the station, his own father. An arrest was made, and although his father was found innocent, he was excommunicated from his family. This led to his reputation as a kind of "Man of Steel", not relenting to pursue his father over a serious leak. This however is untrue, as he did deeply care for what happened, but higher powers made the call to pursue the case. His relentless reputation spread throughout the corporation, with the story of the man who saved the secrets of the research station by auditing his father running rampant, and he was contacted by a consultant of the Board of Directors, and taken on board as the Secretary to the Treasurer, at the young age of 30. Following 6 years at the Secretary's side, he was sought after by the then Financial Controller, and was transferred as his advisor. After implementing his own method of micro-financing in management of corporate level facilities, using his Doctorate title, the Comptroller was impressed, and after financial reforms brought new profits, and in turn, more contracts, and the opening of more research stations, he was reaping the credit from the young man. In time, it became obvious that the younger advisor was behind the real money being made behind the company, and after a brief transition period, Xavier was made the FC in 2440, and became a close and trusted associate of Miranda Trasen.

Why ever hesitantly? -
I'm just here to say how strangely happy I am with how the server is moving forward at this point. However, there are a few things that I have to say. "Nepotism There still seems to be a high volume of nepotism on the server. The situations where an outsider is in a situation and I'd often times, "more qualified" and wants to get involved, but it is handed over to another more familiar player. Over the past few weeks I've seen an improvement in people receiving less common jobs, but after timpresent each of the heads, plus time on the forums I've understood why people want and get these jobs. The point I'm making with this is the "closed" community feel (more on that below) that is present on the server needs to be opened up. Without making things personal, there have been times where I come online, I say hello, and try to start conversation, and am ignored. A few moments later another person comes online and does the same thing, with a friendly response. I just feel that although some of us are just as validated on the server, we are not included in a lot of the more involved RP scenarios. Non-RP RP Several times over the last few weeks I've been either a witness or heard about it ooc. Its the lack of RP in a combat scenario, with people just being killed and not knowing why. I know this happens irl and is often a massive tragedy, but it needs to be curtailed on the server more. Antags need to managed with proper control. "Closed" Community Sometimes, trying to be noticed by this community is a lot harder than one might think. I've been playing on Aurora for over a year now, with some breaks, and sometimes I'm still treated like a new player. On the forums, my posts are ignored, and people who apply for things after me, are put forward with mine left by the wayside. I'm not saying "What about me?!" I'm just outlining what a lot of newer players might feel. Not dissimilar from the Nepotism up above, the lack of response to some newer players, might leave them wondering wht they have to do to get noticed. I speak from experience. I had to try and impress people IC, and get things moving and shaking myself to get my voice even heard, but still I'm pushed by the wayside, or ignored if someone else more familiar is present. Other people will feel the same way. Disclaimer: This is not a post to scream "LOOK AT ME PLEASE, PLEASE VALIDATE ME!!" This is to maybe provide feedback from a lower down member in the community, to show how hard t is to break the mould and get into the "circle of trust" in Aurora. I'm very happy, as stated above, with the server, just a few observations. Feel free to give feedback too, or anything you may add, or disagree with, I absolutely welcome it.

JamesCampbell Tajaran Application

Woopsie, meant 2417 Changing now -
BYOND Key: James Campbell Character Names: Paul Redeker, Griselda Smirnov. Seamus O'Halloran How long have you been playing on Aurora: Over a year, back from hiatus a few weeks ago Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Silver Fur M'sai Physiology Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I love the roleplay involved in this species, as well as the aesthetics. The history and in turn the attitude of many Tajaran appeals to me. This, combined with the more extended variety of emotes, allow for a more extended and immersive role-play. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: It's most likely the most different in terms of behaviour. The fact that the grammar and self reference is totally different. The history is totally different as well as the cultural differences. There is also usually a different personality to most Tajaran, including a deep sense of personal and cultural pride. This coupled with the more expressive emoting opportunities. Character Name: Singa Ti'ika Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born on Ahdomai in 2417 to a very wealthy family, Singa, nicknamed Si, he was pushed into the worship of S'rendarr and Messa from a very early age, and was raised to be a priest of the suns. After a brief spell in the Ahdomai Army as a chaplain, his eyes were opened to the Snow God. He then became a devout worshipper, until he was attacked by members of his old seminary. After the attack, he joined the missionary outreach programme to New Magnitka which was attempting to fight for the prisoner's/miner's rights, in which he found himself on the ground during the spark that ignited the war. After the state of emergency, all traffic in and out of the planet was grounded, so he was stuck within the ensuing chaos. He found himself tending to the wounded soldiers of NanoTrasen, and later, the PMC that was called in. After the liberation of the planet, NT took Si in, with the recommendation of a higher officer, after seeing him with the soldiers, to be trained in the profession of medicine. What do you like about this character? He'll be resentful, bitter and very religious, but fiercely loyal to NT, after they took him in when noone else would. He's very close to his patients, and is at most times, a very kind and caring person. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I often read too much into situations, and can often overlook RPing and get too stuck into the "doing" of the game, but I'm learning more and more to be more patient, and draw out the Roleplay. Notes: I've been whitelisted as a head, and have RP'd with a lot of Tajaran, including as a Tajaran prison guard in Jackboot's event a few weeks ago.

If this is still open I'd like to throw in my two. Paul Redeker and Griselda Smirnov

Hey guys. Might have spotted me around the station as Paul Redeker or whomever. I'm studying in a degree in Music in Ireland, and would love to share some of the music I'm responsible for!! I like to think of myself as very versatile, and able to compose almost anything given the chance. Let me know what you guys think. I'm also open for composing stuff that can be used for movies, games and sound effects also. These are links to my soundcloud page. This is one that I composed for a project, hence the name. It's from the point of a wounded soldier on the battlefield, until he is administered morphine and the trance takes over, so to speak. He hears memories from back home as well as his soldiers and doctors trying to save him. This is a project that I recorded with a few girls, singing a traditional Irish tune. Very simple, nice and acapella. https://soundcloud.com/james-anthony-ohalloran-jr/track-with-plugins This is me experimenting with natural reverb. It's recorded in a ballet studio. The mirrors give off a great natural reverb sound. This was performed by my roommate and his then girlfriend. This was when I first started to get into composing my own material. It's the first in a three piece suite, or collection. It's all based on a novelette that I'm writing, based on an apocalypse, and the aftermath. This is when the protagonist and the love interest meet for the first time. This was composed by me and a friend of mine. It's one of my favourites. It's about the happiness of finding love and appreciation after being alone for so long. It's the second movement of the suite. This is the third movement where the love of his life is gone. He has nothing left to do, and has no reason to go on. By far the best composition I have done, and my favourite. It's based on the book of the same name. This is my band, I play guitar and sing in this. I wrote this song, from scratch about cocaine addiction. (So rock n' roll) Same with this one, I didn't write this one, but it's our bands song and I quite like it. Let me know what you guys think!!!

Jesus christ count me in. I'm a part time recording engineer, and would love to be a part. -
Quick update on what I said, and also some details I missed. My records were updated last week, and I used this: http://sierrabrown.me/aurorarecords/index.php?uid=jamescampbell_paulredeker They are all ingame, and up to date with the correct dates, as the dates in that link are actually wrong. I had the HoP look over my records and he saw what was there, I saw him do it, and he even made a comment about how mining or Sec would be the best course. After this I asked to be the Vice HoS, or assist him, but the HoP offered me the rank of HoS, but said he was now "awake" from SSD, but was promptly leaving, so would see if I could take over. He asked him, was set with a series of gruelling questions, never dealing with me himself, and not looking at my records himself either. I have a full set of records, as you can see by the link above, and they do give credit of how I may be given at least a consideration of command. Edit: Also Brage, I'd rather not name names, as I don't want any more controversy between players, but essentially I'm talking about roles such as Bridge Assistant, Vice HoP, Senior Medical Officer. Some of which have been occupied by the SAME character, who could not possibly possess all the skills required for roles such as those, as well as some of the others I have seen, especially not at their age.
