  1. Funnily this request is what caused us to discover that lol
  2. Blastwave_FX_RattlesnakeShakeTail_BWU.58.mp3 Rattling sound effect, mentioned on the wiki in Emotional Displays, paragraph 6 when enraged, Unathi will sometimes rattle. Figured a sound effect to let people know the big lizard is pissed would be useful. (Sound effect taken from https://www.zapsplat.com/?s=Rattle+snake+tail+shake&post_type=music&sound-effect-category-id=) uses the standard license, same as the usual Unathi hissing sounds.
  3. BYOND Key: Dekser Total Ban Length: Permanent Banning staff member's Key: witchbells Reason of Ban: validhunting as an AI. has received bans and warnings about this behavior in the past. Reason for Appeal: So, starting off I was banned November of 2020, appealed February 14th 2021. I've been thinking about the ban for a while now, I recognize and accept why I was banned as I stated in my last appeal. Fairly recently I was banned from the server (about 2-3 months ago?) and that was kind of a click for me, since then I have directly avoided conflict as non security and only responded with violence when it was absolutely required. My main issue with playing Synthetic was when I was the station AI, since that has been whitelisted I don't think this ban is necessary anymore. To add on this, I obviously wasn't good at playing synthetics in general but after some practice on other servers as well as improving my roleplay and response to danger I think I'm ready.
  4. "Bri... Are you a Skrell?" +1 from me for the lady with the funny pink hair.
  5. Thank you for the reply! That took me a second to understand, you're talking about the species pronouns right? I realize I was using them way wrong and should have them down now. I realize that going into the camp is unlikely and causes a lot of issues, because of that I have a solution. Instead of being drafted to a workcamp after losing his previous job, he was employed there as the camp overseer because of his experience. This obviously still paid less however it would also not cause any raised eyebrows as she went to work at the institute. The reasoning for him losing his prior job to the war is simple, the factory he oversaw was constructed to produce fabrics and luxury items and so was closed down to be altered into a military factory, the re-construction time was estimated at six months and so everyone working at the establishment were to be dismissed. I was going to include this but could not fit it into the backstory in a nice clean way. Even from a young age Rhaghrriov was always interested in tools and science, drawing crazy inventions and trying to create them in the real world with horrible results. In fact it was her dream job, to be able to create things that would affect peoples lives, something impactful. Her parents, however were not fond of this and instead kept encouraging her to move into cooking and bakery, drowning out what she actually wanted to do. She never blamed them or hated them for this, sort-of understood where they were coming from because her? A Scientist? Not gonna happen. Years later she had heard The Hadii Institute was soon to be opened she dropped baking almost immediately which, looking back she realized was a very dangerous and impulsive decision to make. If any of these responses require expanding please do let me know.
  6. BYOND Key: Dekser Character Names: Zissan A'Asshan, Ssek Zuiaa, Klara Wessels Species you are applying to play: T. Sapiens / Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Beaver Brown (RGB 159, 139, 112) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yessss Why do you wish to play this specific race: Tajaran's are an interesting species to play, interactions between not only Tajarans amongst other Tajarans but interactions with other races will definitely be unique and fun. The lore surrounding Tajarans goes very in-depth and the multiple political parties to choose from vastly expands roleplay opportunities. A personal favorite from the lore would be the general biology of Tajarans, while not the most advanced or unique they definitely hold many quirks which affect gameplay. I have had a lot of interactions with Tajarans, whether brief or round defining my interactions have all been interesting and fun. With this application I look forward to playing as a Tajaran and interacting with non-Tajarans, seeing what interesting interactions I can set up with possible Tajaran antags(?). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically, they have claws which slash instead of punch. They have extreme cold resistance and weak heat resistance, they cannot wear human gloves or shoes. They also have night vision and unique organs, adapted to Adhomai. Outside of mechanics Tajarans have very complex politics which may spark arguments in the workplace. Tajarans have many different 'races' and all collectively agree to hate Zhans which may affect how others view them and their actions. Races include: Hharar, otherwise known as the baseline of the Tajaran species. Hharar usually possess greater intelligence than other Tajara but lack in physical strength. No large group has any particular hatred for Hharar. Zhan-Khazan, the second most common race of Tajarans. Zhans are physically more bulky than the Tajaran races, they make up the majority of the workforce and out of what is either spite or discrimination many claim Zhans to be idiotic and less intelligent. M'sai were once the great hunters of Tajaran society, possessing a slim figure and the ability to camouflage with their Ivory - white fur. Today most M'sai work as law enforcement, with large eyes giving great perception in even the heaviest of blizzards, they excel in what they do. Lastly are Njarir’Akhran, these Tajarans made up the wealthy side of the population before the wars. Following the aforementioned wars Njarir make up less than 10% of the population and are hated by the majority of Tajarans simply for sharing a bloodline with the nobles. They often can be seen boasting about their 'high intelligence' and their pristine fur. Overall, Tajaran races, mechanics and intertwining politics will spice up any round. Character Name: Rhaghrriov Al'kiisel Andrr Please provide a short backstory for this character: Born 2434 after the first revolution, Rhaghrriov was an only child. Her father worked as a factory overseer and earned quite a fair living, because of this young childhood and adolescence was easy for Rhaghrriov. She was close with her mother as she would educate her, cook for her and overall spend the most time with her. One thing her mother would often do with Rhaghrriov was cook, teaching her many Tajaran and specifically Peoples Republic recipes. These included Rikazu pies, stews and spreads for Adhomian Hard bread. Both of her parents were highly fond of the PRA and thus told Rhaghrriov rather exaggerated stories about the DPRA and New Kingdom while expressing their love of Peoples Republic. This heavily influenced her political views as she grew older, making her think of the DPRA as terrorists and the NKA as a bunch of bumbling idiots. By the age of seventeen, the year is 2451 and president Rhagrrhuzau has just been assassinated. Though the war did not directly affect Rhaghrriov in a strong way, her father lost his job and was forced into a work camp. Because her father was now working a low paying job, Rhaghrriov could not pursue any advanced education for a few years. There was an idle period, Rhaghrriov was finished with her basic education and was contemplating what she would study or what job she needed to start working, this idle period lasted three years and by twenty years old she planned on working as a cook for a bakery in Al'mari. After following through with these plans, Rhaghrriov rented a cheap, small room to stay in, she also began looking into more advanced education. She became more and more skilled in baking, but it began to bore her, she lost her creative spark and decided to look into other forms of work. The year is now 2457, Rhaghrriov is twenty-three years old and The Hadii Institute of Orbital Research has just become available to supporters of the PRA, this was exciting news for Rhaghrriov as she had applied as soon as she could. First it was the loyalty tests, these questioned her general knowledge of the People's Republic as well as her loyalty. Next was the many entrance exams which she barely passed, finally there was an interview to conclude her entrance into the Institute by confirming she was in fact a PRA supporter and met the qualifications. The process took over two months to complete and Rhaghrriov was exhausted by the end of it, there was no time for rest, however as she was to begin work immediately as a junior roboticst and lab assistant. She worked in the institute for many years, assisting with small experiments and mainly focusing on her studies. April 25th, 2463. Rhaghrriov has been promoted to senior robotics expert after a multitude of other, smaller promotions and has been selected to work aboard the NSS Aurora with NanoTrasen for approximately one year and four months. She had a few weeks to prepare and was ready to forward her career in Science. What do you like about this character? Rhaghrriov is a smart person, she is constantly determined towards a goal, a flaw in her character would be how quickly she bores herself. Dropping something to focus on something else, constantly working to not waste time and always striving to be better than her colleagues. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 Notes: I apologize if the backstory is lacking, my goal was not to create a hyper detailed backstory but rather to express my knowledge of Tajaran lore.
  7. BYOND Key: Dekser Total Ban Length: 3 days Banning staff member's Key: MattAtlas Reason of Ban: As an Engineer during a lowpop round, got involved in a bridge firefight against the antag to help the Captain, later finished off said antag in captains office, this antag murdered two people and was heavily armed, your character should not have not gotten involved at all. This is a question of both validhunting and character believeability, this ban is applied by Mattatlas Reason for Appeal: I am writing this in regards to my ban on Aurora, I will be listing my issues and breaking down the reasons for my punishment. To be clear, my ban time has already been served, I am writing this to try and remove it from my records as it will stain my reputation. Breakdown of what I did that round: I arrive on the station to be greeted by another Engineer telling me an officer has taken role of Captain and has killed all of security, I ask who it is and the Engineer says that is a Unathi. I check the manifest to see that it is Officer Szsk, my character and Szsk have a backround as fairly close friends so I decided to go and speak with Szsk. I arrive and he greets me, covered in blood in the captains voidsuit. We talk for a few moments when he threatens me, I leave to gear up and equip a voidsuit as a precaution. I return to find him in a battle with the Captain, I try to restrain him while the Captain shoots at him to no avail as he pushes me before I can get a strong enough grip. Eventually I start clawing him while he uses some sort of weapon with a shock against me. I back away for a few seconds, letting the Captain shoot him some more. They end up in the Captains office where Szsk tear gases the Captain, forcing them back outside. I grab the Captain and move them to a safer location before returning to fight Szsk, we end up in the Captains office where he corners me before collapsing, giving me time to grab a nearby axe on the floor. I say my final goodbyes to an old friend and finish him. I do concede, murder was not the best option and I should have tried restraining him instead. Issue 1: "Validhunting." My main issue was the allegation that I was validhunting, what is validhunting? There is no clear definition on the internet and the server rules do not state what validhunting is. Obviously I do know what it is but my point remains, you cannot enforce a rule that does not exist, to clarify I am not implying you can or should vaildhunt, I was simply told I broke a rule which states "no valid hunting" when this rule does not exist. In my eyes validhunting would be going out of your way to stop the antag without even roleplaying and just "winning." Perhaps to you it means something else. My issue with this accusation is that, I had no intention of validhunting which in this situation would be charging Szsk (the antag) and trying to kill them without reason, instead I tried to speak with them before resorting to violence in order to assist the Captain. Issue 2: Failed Character Believability, this is a gray area, on one hand you have no idea what my character is like and what their intentions would be during a crisis such as the round. On the other hand I cannot create a character that violates server rules for example: ignores pain, validhunts and sets the supermatter as a cargo technician. My issue with this is that, obviously, I believe I built my character completely within the rules and that everything I did that round was not against Character Believability. I will admit in some areas of that round I heavily stretched what was allowed and I really shouldn't have. Issue 3: General attitude, I mean this in the most respectable way possible, saying "I understand where you're coming from" is not connecting with the player or helping at all, in that bwoink I would say that Matt ignores my arguments or thinks that they are incorrect and gives no explanation as to why, gives an invalid explanation or just adds more "rule breaks" onto a pile. I do not remember everything that was said however in my ban note "As an Engineer during a lowpop round, got involved in a bridge firefight against the antag to help the Captain, later finished off said antag in captains office, this antag murdered two people and was heavily armed, your character should not have not gotten involved at all. This is a question of both validhunting and character believeability, this ban is applied by Mattatlas" it states I was banned for validhunting and character believeability so that is what I have been trying to dismiss during this appeal. Summary: Basically, I done messed up but not that bad. I made a character that doesn't necessarily violate server rules but definitely scrapes close. I spoke to the Antag on discord and they said they were fine with how it ended, so if I am correct on all of my arguments, the only rule break was minor failed character believability which definitely is not ban worthy. I did not validhunt and did not directly ruin the round for anyone I'm pretty sure. I plan on changing up my playstyle as Unathi, not being so quick to charge into combat and will definitely think a whole lot more before acting. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, plz aprove and good night.
  8. BYOND Key: Dekser Character Names: Zissan A'Asshan (asshat), Eddy James Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yea Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Dionae are weird. After my Unathi whitelist I met a few Dionae players and could not believe that I didn't notice how awesome they were before, I hopped on the wiki and instantly loved their lore. Especially how mysterious they are. They're even more alien than Vaurca and I'm very interested to see if I can try them out. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Humans are lame, sure they have speed and flesh n' stuff but Dionae can split off into separate Nymphs, can create objects with their biomass and eat radiation, mechanically and lore-wise it will drastically change RP Character Name: Floats Among Shattered Machines Please provide a short backstory for this character: Fifty or so years after Dionae were discovered, a cluster Nymphs were grown in isolation and kept in separate chambers. Tragically a meteor collided with the station of which they were being grown in. This impact caused major damage and killed the majority of the crew even breaching the isolation cells containing the Nymphs. Minutes after being exposed to the vacuum of space they managed to connect, forming an un-named gestalt. Among themselves, they agreed upon a similar mindset to a Harmonious Hymn, internally discussing amongst themselves before preforming a major action or speaking. Decades passed and they found themselves floating through space, collecting any biomass they could find while absorbing natural gases and radiation. Because of their space faring life style and how many scrapyards, broken vessels and ruins they had encountered. They decided to call themselves "Floats Among Shattered Machines". For two-hundred and fifty years they floated around with none but themselves, alone with each other and thus became very efficient at their system, discussing actions and solutions at times in under a second. For a very long time, they had not encountered any life since their Nymph stage but soon, they found themselves coming into contact with NTCC Odin, which changed their lives indefinitely. Upon reaching the massive space station, they were greeted by patrol drones as well as a few exterior Engineers. Brought inside they attempted to speak with a few Humans, Skrell and even synthetics but were nearly unable to communicate at all having such limited fluency in Tau Ceti Basic. A year of learning speech, training and discussion passed with the outcome being that they were to board Aurora Station as a station Engineer in exchange for safety and a place to live. Because of their years of isolation, they are not very knowledgeable in the cultures of many even including their own kind. They do however enjoy learning of cultures and specifically find Unathi interesting. At this point they were approaching 255 years of being in the same gestalt and surprisingly had never split into several nymphs, they specifically have one nymph who is the explorer that leaves the gestalt when needed. Order of the gestalt: note that none of them had names in Tau Ceti basic prior to first contact The Speaker: Known as "The One Who Speaks Poorly", this one often pauses or stops talking entirely. Due to their many years in isolation of any other living beings, they previously found no purpose in speaking and thus never assigned one to do so. Interestingly, when being taught speech by Dionae researchers on ODIN, this one was the one that listened, all other Nymphs lacked interest and left it to Speaks Poorly. The Explorer: Known as "The One Who Explores Many Ventilation Ducts", while in space, they encountered many derelict stations, asteroids or scrapyards and did not want to risk the whole gestalt by moving inside, thus they sent out this one to explore and report any biomass or items of interest. Once they arrived on Aurora they gave this one a proper title. The Manipulators: Known as No name in Tau Ceti Basic or Hand#1 and Hand#2, these two have been in their position for many years and excelled at picking up stuff. Nothing else interesting about these two. The Motivators: Known as No name in Tau Ceti Basic otherwise Leg#1 and Leg#2, these ones are still new to their work, only being assigned as legs after the gestalt had first encountered gravity on ODIN. Because of this they often stumble or move even slower than a normal Dionae and are not very good at responding to emergencies. Finally, The Idle: Known as No name in Tau Ceti Basic they are idle, waiting for a reason to exist and right now just help make choices on what to do with the gestalt. What do you like about this character?: Floats Among Shattered Machines even for a Dionae has very individual Nymphs, each one having it's own unique personality. They also very rarely split into nymphs as they are pretty comfortable staying in the gestalt they have been a part of for over two and a half centuries. (however I will probably be testing and playing with the mechanics for my first few rounds) How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Solid 8/10, not the best and not the worst but think I have improved. Notes: I made some minor changes from my last app.

Upon reaching the massive space station, they were greeted by patrol drones as well as a few exterior Engineers. Brought inside they attempted to speak with a few Humans, Skrell and even synthetics but were nearly unable to communicate at all having such limited fluency in Tau Ceti Basic. A full year of learning speech, training and discussion passed with the outcome being that they were to board Aurora Station as a station Engineer in exchange for safety and a place to live. At this point they were approaching 255 years of being the same gestalt and had only ever lost one Nymph. Forming their gestalt there were 7 of them but during their space faring days while very young, they entered a great dispute and after much arguing, the minority in the argument, being a single Nymph was banished from the Gestalt, all memories held in that Nymph were lost. It is still unknown as to where they are today. What do you like about this character? Floats Among Shattered Machines even for a Dionae has very individual Nymphs, each one having it's own unique personality. As a gestalt they have seen a lot but had basically never seen another living thing before and thus know very little of how the galaxy works and know even less of the many cultures and factions within it. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Solid 8/10, not the best and not the worst. Notes:
  10. Thank you for replying! I was very nervous to put out this application and I'm happy you like it. 1) More traditionalist but a mix of both in a way, living on Ouerea he consumed a lot of the Izweski clans propaganda from the war, despite this he dislikes the fact that the Izweski refer to the traditionalists as "savages" and as well as that many including him were told to think of them as barely Sinta at all. He still thinks there is a bit of truth to what the Izweski had to say in aforementioned propaganda like how the traditionalists wanted to destroy modern society and did not have good reason for their attacks. His father also told him much about their homeworld and what it was like before he left. In the end Asshan doesn't really pay too much attention it and true to his character, he just focuses on his job. However I do think that if he did not consume such propaganda he would completely side with the traditionalists. 2) I'm happy you asked, his father disagrees with the Izweski clan and blames them for the war. He was born on Moghean and was around for the first few years of the contact war and left about 6 months before the first atomic bomb was dropped. Interestingly Shaleez does not push his opinions of Izweski onto Asshan as much as he did with their religious arguments. 3) He mostly agrees with this society and believes it works, in his thought process, if you work hard enough it does not matter where you're from then you will succeed. Especially if you follow the code of honor / code of womanhood. His reasoning is obvious, despite his short handed start in life he did his best and never stopped working to keep his family fed scoring him, a peasant a job at Hephaestus Industries. His this thoughts on nobles and warriors are different, he believes warriors are heroic fighters and that they are to be respected while with nobles he believes nobles that have not achieved anything were born into that position and do not deserve respect without earning it. Please ask if you have any more questions EDIT: I did a time oopsie! But fixed it.
  11. BYOND Key: Dekser Character Names: Mason Stern Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: black (I may change my mind) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have always been interested with Unathi since I first saw one about a year ago, first of all they look really cool but it's not just how they look I was actually reading the wiki a few days before writing this without even planning on making an app but as someone who is a huge xenobiology nerd I instantly fell in love with the, y'know biology and religions and culture it's all very well written and properly planned out. It actually feels alien with only a few things too close to human civilization prior to contact. While on that topic the first contact war was very interesting to read just because first contact with aliens is always exciting and also the nukes. But my fascination for biology and aliens aside the Unathi are unique and interesting and give many roleplaying opportunities especially with antags it's also because after a full year of playing on this server, Humans get really boring so I decided after reading the wiki that it's time I spice my playthroughs up a bit with trying out a new species. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First, there is the obvious mechanical differences which will greatly change how I play, there is also how Unathi interact with each other, I would love to play as one and interact with another rather than play as a Human and interact with one. Character Name: Zissan a'Asshan Physical appearance: Height: 7'1 Age: 23 Weight: 297 Pounds Asshan is a large more crocodile looking Unathi with many sharp teeth, claws and short yet durable horns, he stands very tall and is heavier than most of his species. He often bellows when he is bored, similar to how a human would sigh. His back is covered in ridges and he appears to lean forward rather than stand upstraight likely due to his height. Please provide a short backstory for this character: Asshan hatched 2440 on Ouerea a mere 2 years after it was colonized, Asshan was born a peasant following the Th'akh religion. From his adolescence Asshan was always interested in creating things and never spent much time doing anything else. Later in his childhood he would move from playing with rocks to small circuits and then to old machinery. His father, Shaleez a'Asshan would often tell him how the machines worked and sometimes have stories about them. Asshan and his father were inseparable and the only things they disagreed on were related religion as his father cared much for it while Asshan was too focused on tinkering to care for the deep intricacies of Th'akh. One example would be on prosthetic limbs, while Asshan does not think it should concern him if one replaces an extremely damaged limb with a metallic one his father disagrees and believes it would mutilate the very soul and is a great disgrace to ones self, clan and family. Approaching adulthood Asshan began searching for a guild and happened upon one which offered a fair payment for fair labor. This was perfect for him and thus he employed there, following soon after Asshans employment, his father retired. One thing Asshans father would tell him was, "Work is among the most important things in your life. Without it, we would not have meaning" Asshan would reflect on this and held that advice close. Asshans father was a particularly large Unathi being 7'5 and weighing 317 pounds, this caused him many health issues in his life and it was known to Shaleez that he would not live for a long time and eventually as predicted, he passed. Asshan was left confused and unsure of how to cope with this loss, his father was to be put to rest in the clothing he died in and was buried outside the city they lived in (New Skalamar) on a large hill near Yiz. At his fathers burial, Asshan spoke of the stories his father had told him and reflected back on all the times they shared mentioning his fathers saying of work and how much knowledge Asshan will carry on from his father. It was then that Asshan decided he would not stop working and he would be as productive as possible. It would be his way of coping and would allow him to provide for his family while distancing and distracting himself from all his past memories, he planned on leaving the planet. He joined a guild and spent seven years taking any work he could, becoming one of the best in his region but there was something missing in his life. Since his fathers death, out of guilt Asshan had become more religious and tried to forget his own opinions, taking up his fathers instead. He did his best to provide for his family and clan but working for a guild as a laborer simply wasn't enough and when an opportunity from Hephaestus Industries came looking for Engineers, without hesitance he enrolled and was accepted, this was very unheard of for a peasant to be chosen and thus it was a call for celebration! Many were held for Asshan by his clan and soon after being chosen he was booked on a shuttle to Aurora Station. What do you like about this character?: Asshan is a workaholic, he will follow orders. For him it's not about the money, it's about getting the job done and I think that's a very interesting characteristic to have. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I'd give myself a solid 8/10 NOTES: I have reviewed my application after taking a nap and noticed a lot of errors and mistakes as well as a lack of an extensive backstory, so I re-wrote most of it.
  12. OK SO starting off this is my second time being synth banned just being totally transparent. I realize my mistake entirely and have put much thought into this application (started planning to write it 4 months ago.) If this gets denied that is totally fair and I deserve to stay banned. BYOND Key: Dekser Total Ban Length: Perma ban and have been banned for 4 months Banning staff member's Key: witchbells Reason of Ban: validhunting as an AI. has received bans and warnings about this behavior in the past. Reason for Appeal: The second I was unbanned I nonstop played AI for... A very unhealthy amount of time and my RP performance obviously degraded each round, eventually I validhunted real hard instantly not trusting the visitors because my stupid logic was "Oh hurr durr they're not crew so I can be a dick to them even if the RD tells me not to." I didn't even really know what validhunting was and why it wasn't allowed until I actually googled it and thought about how unfair it is. I know it's very different but I've played as an AI on beestation and other medium RP servers for some time now and received no warnings for some mistakes I made. Which taught me that I do not play like an idiot on Aurora and I do not intend to play like an idiot. I know 4 months isn't a very long time to learn a lesson so if I have to wait longer for an unban I get it and even if I never get unbanned that's fair too, I was the one that made the mistake and it's totally on me. I apologize for ruining the experience those months ago with my very flawed logic and inability to roleplay as an AI. Finally I said this before and I'll say again, AI is my favorite role to play and I really really like how AI plays on Aurora. Covid-19 gave me a lot of spare time to play ss13 and make those mistakes however now I have actual things keeping me busy in my life and it's not all about ss13. Another thing, I made my last appeal saying that I "just got back from a break of ss13," which is true, I took a long break from the game and so hopping back to it and playing one of the most difficult roles on the station is a bad idea. In conclusion, playing ss13 for 27 hours non stop as AI is a bad idea and causes me to make mistakes so I wont do that.
