BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Unbound Athvur’s brood Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yezzz Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t partially doing this out of my need to 100% aurora, but I’d also be lying if I said it was just for that reason. I love the bug’s lore. They’re galactic refugees, trying to find their place in an unfamiliar sector. The Virtual Reality is also an interesting form of pseudo-religious afterlife/’second reality’, and their eusocial structure can lead to some interesting roleplay between different types of characters. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Vaurcae have a strict and eusocial hierarchy, and a heavier reliance on organic technology compared to the other species of the Spur. Biologically, they have a variety of forms that they are born with. Their high queens dictate them from their realms in VR. Culturally, they’re very traditionalist in some aspects; their systems haven’t changed over their millennia-long flight. They’ve been engineered to keep the structure of their society running, and have been doing a very good job at it, even in the new environment. All Vaurcae are made with a purpose in mind, and their life is built around their purpose. Character Name: Za'akaix'basz Zo’ra Please provide a short backstory for this character: Basz was created 6 years ago, after the Vaurcae were settled in the Spur, as one of the rare warriors of Athvur’s brood. Their original task was to investigate violations of Vaurcesian Law commited by members of the brood. Their first year was rather uneventful, with most of their jobs being on workplace accidents. During this period, they began to feel the usual dissonance of their brood’s warriors. In-between cases, they began to watch human media in the Virtual Reality, using the large library of their queen. They began to feel a certain kinship between them and the various characters portrayed; specifically, the human concept of detectives. To fit in with their culturally-obsessed brood, they began to take on these mannerisms as a part of their brood’s culture; this was looked well upon by the Ta of their hive-cell. They continue this practice to this day. Basz’s second year was much more thrilling. They were sent to Flagsdale and tasked to investigate a theft of multiple firearms which were determined to have gone missing due to logistical errors, and cooperated with Mendell City authorities to arrest a small group of Venom Mandibles. They decided to take residence in Flagsdale, although their hive-cell continued to live in Phoenixville. They felt they could be much more useful in serving their purpose there. They continued to investigate on the behalf of the Zo’ra hive, although feeling out-of-place with Athvur’s brood, their hive-cell, and the warriors of Zoleth’s brood surrounding them. Basz began to explore more of Flagsdale and grew to find community there, especially among the human police they interacted with regularly and the workers they protected. They had two happier years in the City Upside-down. It suited their mindset much better than Phoenixport, and they joined the district watch, trying to protect those like them in the district. They also gained a reputation among the local toothpaste bars as being able to outdrink the local workers. Basz, for once in their life, belonged. They felt like they had a home. And then, of course, the Flagsdale riots happened. Basz managed to get out into the streets and tried to help with the effort to direct people away from the violence, although they accomplished relatively little and was injured by circumstance in the attempt. They nursed their wounds with a group of Scay-born workers, and tried to wait out the riots. They felt paralyzed like a worker for the first time, unable to solve anything alone. They took initiative, trying to coordinate using the damaged hivenet to help with the relief effort in their local area. Once the ordeal was over, they entered the newly-constructed Phalanx to continue their action in service of Flagsdale, the Zo’ra, and the Court of Queens. They didn’t want anyone to go through that ordeal ever again. Basz was assigned to police Flagsdale for most of the next year. They continued to work hard, although began to explore themself more on the side. They tried to further connect with their hive by getting into the human hobby of knitting, and found that it helped them to focus on their occupation. Basz settled down again, although never quite feeling easy in the district again. They felt that it had calmed down, but that something was different about the city. They could make it their place again… or they could find a new one, elsewhere, like they had before. Basz was assigned to the Horizon as an Investigator shortly afterwards. They’re ready for a new home. What do you like about this character?: Basz has interesting reasons to be on the Horizon, history grounded in previous Vaurca events, and honestly, Vaurca noir detective is a fun aesthetic. They have a strong internal conflict, feeling a disconnect from any group they belong to, and their unique position allows them to have a unique dynamic with most other bugs. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I think I’m pretty good at keeping in character and not being a shitter! I try to play my characters as if they were real people, who’ve lived in the Spur their entire life. Notes: I’m open to questions from anyone who wants to ask them!

Botanist's "Human Lore Deputy" Application
pocheto replied to rrrrrr's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I'm going to be honest, all of these lore thoughts (especially the language rework stuff) has my special interest in aurora lore awakening. God I need this. Give me my coalition despot planets. +1 -
Woo! They are very curious about the Ichor Eternal, viewing it as an odd permutation or heresy of their own faith, but still following the same basic principles. They are tolerant of the Orthodox, but views them as having only part of the truth.. They will work alongside those of any faith, however. They're vehemently anti-Scorned and try not to associate with those symps. They want the Horizon to go to Liberty's Cradle so they can learn more about the Coalition's culture. They're fascinated by its ideas and find it exotic and odd. However, they would prefer not to go to Light's Edge. It's dark, songless, and inhospitable. There's no people to speak of, no nature, and GOD KNOWS WHAT is in that fucking land.

BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: changes a lot but this is the list at time of posting Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup! Why do you wish to play this specific race: Gestalt entities are /fun/. Plainly put, they have a super cool premise. Also, I’d be lying if I didn’t mention my want to 100% aurora. They’ve also always been interesting to read about in Federation lore, and I’m interested in playing one, especially with the new Xrim rework. They’re without a homeland, trying to survive in a world that they have to fit into at every chance they get; they make their own space. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are a deeply inhuman mind shaped by deeply human experiences. They’re like clay; they replicate what they witness, even more so than most humans. Depending on how they’re raised, they could serve very different causes, but they all function as replicators of their society. A gestalt is emblematic of the environment they grew up in, the experiences they’ve had; even their names are reflections of this. All of their experiences are turned into a key part of themselves. Character Name: The Growing Hum of the Courier’s Engine As They Fade Into Dust Please provide a short backstory for this character: Courier’s Engine is a Xrimborn gestalt around the age of 26. They formed in the city of Shz’ah, and their constituent nymphs were set to form a gestalt. They quickly found each other and formed a bond, becoming a Harmonious Hymn due to their friendship-like gestalt nature. They were assigned to logistics once they finalized their gestalt and were tagged. The newly-christened Unwavering Bond of Newfound Care joined with Nralakk Logistics to ship packages to Zeng-Hu science outposts in East Eisex. Unwavering Bond narrowly avoided trouble on their fifth delivery. After dropping a package and going to retrieve it, they encountered Ooclore trees, which another traveller pointed out to them. Unwavering Bond thanked this traveller, named Iu’serrqo Auissoqoru, and travelled with them for the rest of the journey, hearing stories about the Xrim wilderness and life on the road. They took these stories to heart, and parted ways with the courier with a desire to explore the world, to aid others, and to surpass nature. Due to this, they changed their name upon Iu’serrqo’s departure, their core memory being the final sensation of them riding away in their truck, never to be seen again by Courier’s Engine. Courier’s Engine continued their work for a period of seven years, integrating lost or outdated server equipment into themselves when they could, due to finding the Iron Eternal faith workable for them, even still being Enlightened. They saw how the technology used in those outposts could overcome and redefine nature. However, after memorizing the routes, it no longer held the same wonder it once did. There’s a difference between tracing a rote path and embarking on a journey, and the lines were starting to blur for Courier’s Engine. They requested transfer in the Work Exchange Programme, and after they were determined sufficient, were sent to Orion Express to see the galaxy. Their assignment; the SCCV Horizon. What do you like about this character?: Courier’s Engine gives me the chance to have a unique perspective on synthetics, Xrim, and the galaxy at large. In addition, they have a good reason to be engaged and curious in most situations, and are part of lore I’m familiar with. Also, to be honest. Road doona. Fucking COOL How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I think I’m pretty good at it all things considered! I try my best to be in-character at all times, and am good at keeping IC and OOC distanced and chill. Notes: Courier’s Engine has a mid-lower range SCS.

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Massive. Huge. Absolutely ginormous. Titanic. Considerable. Mammoth. Vast. Major. Immense. Larg Species: Skrell Short Description: the cube How will this be reflected on-station?: remove them Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: yes Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? no Long Description: we put the skrell in a cube. I watched as they loaded the last one into the skrube. Ten-by-ten-by-ten meters of solid aluminium filled with water. The most momentous celebration in the Spur since the first exocolony. Children cheered, grabbed at their parents, took pictures. They would be the last skreneration. It was a green one that was the last frog to go. They tried to flee, but the guard there pushed them in for the good of the galaxy. The mistakes of the Tenth Skrellian War(ble) could not be repeated in the future. With the skrell were the council; loyalist skrell who could rule as god-kings in the dreaming realm of the cube. They started the engines, and the last skrell flew up into space, off to land on some distant hellworld that none of us could fathom. We could no longer tolerate the presence of these fucking warbly little shitstains. War(ble) never changes.

Holy shit that was QUICK. 1. She doesn't usually hold sympathy for criminal Guwan. Her own beliefs are that the Hegemon was correct in dividing criminal class and those who were simply victims of circumstance. She may have some sympathy for those who seem genuinely regretful, however, but that's a rare case. Most of the time she treats them as your average Hegemony citizen. 2. She's grateful for the Kuhwinla not charging as much, and she sends a portion of her check to them each month. She tries to keep frugal, however, and has developed a habit of eating the scraps that others don't have when she's working, as it saves on meal costs. She takes great care to hide this from the higher-ups. 3. She's sympathetic to the K'lax! She feels like they have a similar situation to her, in some ways, being taken in by something greater from a terrible situation. Not'zar Izweski is something of a personal idol to her, as he gave her the social mobility upwards to finally succeed in ways she never could as a Guwan. The incorporation as of very recently is somewhat disturbing to her, as she hopes the Bard's Guild can continue work unmolested, but overall she supports the integration of galactic societies into each other. -
BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: Lorraine Panosian, among many others Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: #559555 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup Why do you wish to play this specific race: I need the scaly to complete my furry. All honesty, though, one of the most interesting things about Unathi is the rapid ticking clock on their homeworld and way of life. They’ve spread due to being forced to leave because of the growing wastes or Contact War. This interim period is what they’re all stuck in as they adapt to the human-dominated galactic political scene. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Generally, Unathi are much more like pack predators, on a societal level. You trust in your clan and their allies, and generally Unathi are more collectivist, sacrificing their own good for that of the clan. Power is also generally secured by outright violence and force more often. This is compounded by the fact that Unathi also live in desperate times. Their way of life is rapidly disintegrating, and they must adapt. Character Name: Auk’razzi Kuhwinla Please provide a short backstory for this character: Auk’razzi Kuhwinla was born in Jaz’zirt in 2441. Her relatively happy and traditional childhood was cut short when her parents were killed in a collision with a vehicle, and she became a Guwan, taken in by the Kuhwinla orphanage guild. There, she participated in community life as much as she could, hoping to become an actress even if she couldn’t due to her Guwan status. She idolized the local Bard’s Guild chapter, even if they didn’t want her around. Eventually, they stuck her with a job as a stagehand to make her stop pestering them about helping, and she gladly got to work, helping with her first local production; a play about the River Court. She did well enough, and she was tentatively allowed to work on a few more productions. Eventually, she graduated to minor roles and understudying, eventually peaking when she managed to have a supporting role in a production of “The Sorrows of the Lake” during the Bard’s Festival. But after this, she aged out of the orphanage without an adoption, and quickly took a position with NanoTrasen. She signed as an Assistant, and slowly worked her way through her first assignment, eventually gaining the Miranda Trasen Scholarship to NanoTrasen Academy, working towards a degree in Culinary Arts, which piqued her interest during her period as an assistant. Auk’razzi made it through her studies steadily, making a few friends on the campus in Biesel, mostly humans and Unathi, and lived in a small apartment in Xinghua Prefecture. She took classes in drama on the side, although never considered going into it more seriously. After she gained her clan name, she joined with a fellow group of Unathi on campus to practice and discuss Th’akh. Once graduated with her degree, quickly jumped headfirst into her new assignment; the SCCV Horizon. What do you like about this character?: Auk’razzi has interesting roleplaying opportunities, due to being a (former) Guwan, now with a clan name again. She occupies a strange space in the hierarchy where she was uplifted largely due to circumstances beyond her control, but has no support apparatus that a clan would provide. Additionally, her background gives her interests beyond ‘job’ and ‘location of birth’. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I think I do a good enough job of getting into character and remaining consistent! I generally don’t do shitter things and try to be realistic. Roleplay over mechanics every time. Notes: None.

Camera clipping here APC and fire alarm clip here Flags and light tubes look a bit weird oh god this elevator

I /very/ much regret the title choice haha 1. She believes in no religion. The old religions are fine to practice, but should be reformed somewhat to remove the obvious influence of the old nobility in them that keep the people shackled. 2. She'd describe herself as orthodox. She's a patriot, but she's not at the point (yet) where she advocates for the totalist Hadiism of the PSIS. 3. Khar'dassa wants to learn more about the wider galaxy, and spread her ideology (just a little). There are so many things in the galaxy and if some of them can be integrated to improve Hadiism, she'd be excited to help. She's deeply curious.

Got the answers here; 1. They began preparing early to leave if needed, and so got as much canned food as they could, being from a center of industry. Typically, they would use the human canned foods they had to make whatever they could; a particular favorite of Khar'dassa's was canned mandarin oranges and pineapples in one bowl, one of the best things she could eat at the time. 2. The schoolwork was easier for her, being from a center of new technology and innovation, but she was rather lonely. She did manage to make a friend in the same year as her; Nohr'ai I'krenne, who was studying exosuit design. They still keep in contact over Square and talk almost daily! 3. Doesn't discriminate! She buys into the idea of abolishing ethnicity/caste system entirely and making everyone equal under the government. 4. The Democratic People's Republic are trying their best, but they don't have the right ideas. The NKA? Regressive, royalist bastards who either don't know how terrible life was under the old system or would be in power under it. She doesn't know too much about the expat communities, but views them as similarly misguided. They should help on Adhomai instead of fleeing!

BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: Stella Riedl, Queire Xusuui, Ruby Oschner, and Fern Thomas, among others Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Kochiba, #6b4423 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajara cold war lore is really interesting! The amount of personal conflict and tension could be really fun to roleplay out, and I think that the political struggle is very compelling. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara are fundamentally a pre-spacefaring species thrust into the galactic community very suddenly. Their culture shock has ended, but the struggles they face are rooted in their time before spaceflight, simply moved onto a wider stage. Character Name: Khar’dassa Hra’darr Please provide a short backstory for this character: Khar’dassa was born in 2441, to a Republican Hharar family in the city of Tampiska with an older sister. She was born during the boom of the Republic, in a time of hope and progress. Khar’dassa grew up very patriotic; the nation was at its peak, and she was part of her local Youth Brigade, learning how to be the best citizen she could be. She saw the rapid industrialization around her while it happened, and was greatly inspired, but that was soon cut short when the Second Revolution happened. She was only 9 when the war started, and mourned Al’mari’s death along with the rest of her fellow comrades just the next year. She lived mostly sheltered from it, but heard incoming stories, and quickly prepared for some sort of military assault upon the city. The tensions rising in the city further fuelled her nationalism, and gave her the desire to work within the system in some capacity. As the siege went clearly downhill, her family fled to B’urr to escape the eventual capturing of the city in 2458. In B’urr, at 17, her life almost began again. There, she was relatively safe from the combat, due to the presence of soldiers who participated in its recapture. She resumed a relatively normal existence, beginning to help repair the boats in the harbors. Khar’dassa’s family would lay down roots there, remaining there until the present. When the armistice was signed, Khar’dassa accepted the outcome, but still held in her heart the belief that the Republic would show everyone the correct path. Over the next 4 years, she continued her life, eventually moving on her own to Al’mari to study at the Hadii Institute of Orbital Research. Khar’dassa studied ship design and repair, and satisfied her own long-lasting curiosity about advanced technology. She had a relatively uneventful time there, with no notable negative incidents. After it was over, she had her degree, and very recently was hired by Hephaestus Industries for good pay and sent to the Horizon. She looks forward to her new experiences, but still hopes to keep up her patriotic spirit and connect to her home through the extranet. What do you like about this character?: I feel like Khar’dassa is very rooted in the history of the Tajara, and specifically in the conflict and industrialization of the species. She’s pushed by a desire to progress the species into the space age, and her attitude towards the PRA gives me a chance for good role-play with others, tempered by her need to stay hired. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I think I’m good at getting into the character’s emotional state, and I try to make them well-rounded and influenced by their beliefs in the way that real people are. My goal for my characters is to make them feel like living people. Notes: None!

Gotcha, gotcha 1. N/A, still a Listener 2. Wolxii believes that the C'thur Vaurcae deserve rights, but is firmly in support of Bound regulation; she views them as simply a biological variant of synthetics, and potentially dangerous if given power. She hasn't personally known many C'thur. 3. She opposes the insurrection and rebellion in the Traverse, but does think that there is a lot of deserved criticism towards the Federation, even if only in private. 4. Wolxii would eat Neaera organs Kona'd with apple juice for days. 5. Wolxii follows Qeblak, although isn't too ardent about her faith. She carries a deck of stargazing cards with her wherever she goes. Her coming-of-age ceremony was a small but joyful affair.

BYOND Key: Pocheto Character Names: Kalliopi Xeneli, Stefanie Pallene, along with many others yet to be more established or played frequently Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Lilac due to spa treatments; originally deep purple Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell society interests me greatly; the large-scale structure across their territory combined with its longevity is stunning. The Nlom is what greatly captivated me, however; the idea of an biologically and psionically guided zeitgeist that guides their entire society is amazingly creative, and I want to play that out! Also, the Glorsh lore is fun, and I think I could get some good roleplay out of the dynamic between Skrell and various synthetics. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell take a longer and society-focused view of most problems than humans due to their lifespans. The typical Skrell, at least in the foundation, views themselves less of an individual residing within a community and more a part of the community. A lot of Skrell in human spaces are simply ‘passing through’, because the timescale and society is so different that it provides a refuge from Skrellian woes. Additionally, their society is mostly centralized around the Federation, and the amount of control it exerts would be impossible for a human society, made easier by the Nlom. Character Name: Wolxii Duqtara Please provide a short backstory for this character Wolxii was born a Xiiori inflicted with Xibus to a Quya of 5 on Aliose, with one Qrra'Myaqq. Her Qrri’Myaq was Xiialt, and influenced them to take a career in the sciences once out of her early schooling, giving them a model microscope as their gift for the Odurserr, which Wolxii chose to burn. Once in Uyi’vesi, Wolxii chose to study xenobotany, specifically the modification of plants through a variety of techniques. They ended up acquiring 2 degrees after 23 years, and took a job with Tuz'qlip to further her ambition; somehow making a breakthrough in terraforming efforts on Aliose. Eventually, they found their efforts futile; no breakthroughs were being made, and they requested transfer in the Work Initiative Programme. Transferred to Zeng-hu, and specifically Yomi Genetics, they continued their work while interfacing with human culture. She took on a feminine gender presentation to better integrate into human culture. That is her work history. Her personal history is slightly more complicated. As a child, one of the members of her Quya was killed in a vehicle accident, and the rest of them slowly drifted apart, leaving her with just her Qrra’myaqq and Qrri’myaq. This lonely existence led to her growing up more independent, and classifying herself as a Listener. Then, she made a Qu’Nioh, Ahdriu Qassaxl. They were a xenobiologist studying alongside her in the Uyi’vesi, and they grew close quickly; eventually, they became Qu’poxii, around the time that Wolxii was exiting schooling to join Tuz’qlip. They’ve continued their relationship long-distance over Viv-ID while Wolxii is in the exchange program, and she’s become much happier. Currently, Wolxii is working hard to try and increase her SCS while immersing herself in humanity, looking forward to going back home with a higher status and understanding of the world to tackle the problems on Aliose. What do you like about this character? I feel like a more idealistic character is fun for me to play, and especially one ignorant to the worst sides of the Federation. Additionally, she has a strong goal and motivation to frame her actions. She’s also grounded in Skrell lore, and could probably find something in common with other crew members, giving her a lot of ways to spark roleplay! Her Listener status, which she tries to keep as quiet as possible, is a way to spark conflict with other Skrell. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think I’m good at getting into character and especially trying to ground my characters in the setting and lore. I try my best at all times to play them as people who view the things around them as ultimately normal and something they’ve lived with for their whole lives. In both RPGs and spess, it takes me a bit to gather my thoughts on a character and wrap them up into something defined, but I do think that I'll get this together! Notes: Wolxii’s SCS is 6.54. Didn’t know where else to put this
