If you insist.

BYOND Key: Our Lord Spungus Total Ban Length: Perma Banning staff member's Key: readthisnameplz Reason of Ban: Reason for Appeal: Somebody said the person who made the complaint against me that got me banned in the first place was banned for bad conduct. Some of the accusations levied against me were "character stalking" accusations, which are frankly not true. There was never any metagrudging in this situation. In addition, the OOC issues were heavily overstated. There were times when I got heated, sure, but to no greater degree than anybody else.

I don't see how you got metagrudging or targeting from that, but, if you insist. I opted to apologize multiple times and try to explain my side of things, as well as outlining the way I was going to remedy the problem, but, yes, I clearly hate this random internet person and I hate all Dominian players. -

You're veering off from actual issues that exist and can be addressed and steering into making absurd speculations about someone you don't know. I was willing to accept that I was in the wrong before, I was trying to be calm and civil and admit that maybe it was weird, but now I'm going to be blunt. Neither you nor anybody else on this server is important enough for me to consider actively stalking them, nor is anybody else on the planet for that matter. At most, it was a subconscious inclination - I'm 90% sure it's a series of coincidences. As I have already made clear: Yes, I have involved Cordia in gimmicks too much. No, I am not the driving factor behind a majority of the gimmicks involving Cordia. If you want to call it stalking, call it stalking. You're reading far too deeply into it. I'm willing to accept that I was being a moron, but accusing me of stalking is a bridge too far. -

Again, I'm not intentionally trying to include Cordia in arcs (most of the time, this specific incident included - I don't think I've actually encouraged any "let's gang up on Cordia" gimmicks in AOOC, and I'm not a loud antag player, so every loud gimmick involving Cordia has most likely been someone else's choice. The logs may prove me wrong here but I'm pretty sure if they do it was one or two situations). As for meta communications, I'm standing by that, because I find it to be extremely silly that everyone's go-to when an established Dominian character doesn't like what a newer Dominian character is doing is to immediately get in the discord and tell on them. I already said the solution to that is to just stop playing characters who have any involvement in Dominia, which I'm doing. I still don't like it and I don't think it provides any sort of RP beyond "kill off a character because they're inconvenient", but we've already been through this. I get the message. When I do stupid shit like this I only really need to be told sternly once, and usually I'll stop. This is a fault with me, I'm aware, I'm bad at gauging when people are gleaning enjoyment and when people are getting stressed or frustrated - what you perceived as demanding resolution was what I perceived as a request- your perception is objectively more correct than mine, so I have no problems accepting it. My wording sucked and the pattern exists, but, genuinely, it's a failing on my end that happens to be the product of repeated attempts to do literally anything with Dominia as a setting. I don't want to shift the blame to you, but, Cordia is one of the few consistently-active Dominian characters with actionable exploitables. She's also a member of Command. It's inevitable that she's going to get swept up in antaggery. The vast majority of the time if I'm involving you, it's either because you've involved yourself inadvertently (e.g. with a majority of Eloise's gimmicks, specifically those involving Sandford or those where there's already been brigging involved) or I have entirely run dry of creative ideas and have jumped on the bandwagon. I have no right to make this suggestion, but, consider playing a less high-profile character if you don't want to be a high-profile target. Yes, I have an over-reliance on psionics, it's a unique mechanic that has multiple uses, and I use them mainly in an attempt to perfect a single gimmick I have in mind rather than trying to branch out and do different things. I've been, slowly, attempting to change this, either by completely changing the type of character I'm using, playing offship roles, or otherwise doing an entirely different sort of gimmick. Call it dedication if you want, in reality it's more of a crippling lack of being able to take hints and a need for clear-cut instructions to stop doing things. Despite having tried to pick up on these cues, I cannot figure out when somebody is playing a character as being distressed or is actually distressed. I suck at reading people over the internet. I will make this fuck-up constantly (as you've seen) if it isn't nipped in the bud. -

I can attest to the fact that it's been several rounds, over, like, the course of a couple months or so. Honestly, it's my fault and I need to get my shit together and either stop playing antag or get better gimmicks and/or play completely different characters that have zero reason to interact with Cordia or Dominia as a whole. -

To add to the previous post, it wasn't that they went off their medication, it was that their prescription is not a long-term "this will solve it" sort of thing, and more of a patch-the-hole-until-something-better-can-happen solution. They didn't go off of their medication, they ran out and the pharmacist refused to make more. And yeah, my gimmicks need work. I've branched out, though, sort of. More prevalently, though: I do apologize if I've made you uncomfortable, I'm woefully dogshit at gauging people's level of comfort and often get excited about things that other people want no part in. -

In defense of Chiora's existence, a most of the gimmicks I played out were supposed to involve literally any Dominians, but usually (through no fault of my own more often than not - I roll antag a lot but most of the shit involving Cordia recently with antags has been unrelated to me or I've just sort of hopped on the bandwagon) it came back to Cordia. So I stopped playing Chiora because it was getting insane. I try to keep Eloise out of people's business, and kept doing psionics stuff in an effort to refine a gimmick that never quite went how I wanted it to go. That's my fault. The recent Fisanduhian thing was, once again, not intended to cycle back to Cordia. The character took personal offense to some Solarian machinist claiming they were trying to steal a gift (when they just wanted to participate). Started off as generic "Hey, fuck off, man, you didn't see it and you weren't listening" and ended with Marielle coming into the bar's private room and basically telling said fisanduhian that he was going to get deported and probably tortured. Said fisanduhian had the stream of his sister being tortured, unsolicited, by Tribunalists, sent directly to him, and, basically, lost his fucking mind over it. He was treated for it, but due to how recent it was (within months of him going abroad) the wound is still fresh. The pharmacist also refused to make more of his medication due to being at the party, which exacerbated the paranoia. Yeah, maybe PTSD is a little light for a diagnosis, probably it should be something more like schizophrenia (I'm not a psychologist and I don't really want to become an armchair one so I can write a character). Regardless, the bit wasn't necessarily meant to go to Cordia, but considering she was the only other Caladius there and one of the only people to actually interact with the Fisanduhian in question, it wound up turning that way anyway. I recognize that it seems really fucking weird, and, yeah, it kind of is really fucking weird, but I don't mean any harassment by it, and really only wanted to solve the previous round's conflict by doing literally anything but the "OOOOOH I'M GONNA TELL BASSETT" garbage that I've seen be the 'resolution' to any canon Dominia stuff I've seen recently, because, at least from my perspective, it's metacomm-y and does not actually lead to any roleplay other than "haha get blackbagged". -
It was an exigent circumstance, really- I don't think even in megacorp dystopia 2465 anyone could really be innoculated against facing down a terrorist who was an accessory to killing a valued acquaintance. It's not normal Eloise behavior.

I didn't search the brig for tools, mainly because I had been watching you over the cameras the whole time and had searched you prior to your incarceration. Integrated combitools are actually selectable from the loadout screen as a non-antag, so it isn't far-fetched that a warden would have experience with personnel using them to escape confinement. I actually thought the implant was a freedom implant (as in, break-out-of-cuffs, not a combitool) which partially influenced my extended cuff-holding. As for acting unprofessionally, a character who Eloise considered to be fairly close (not quite a friend, but at least someone she would be sad to lose) was killed by the raiders, Robin was being overly smug and demanding, and required medical for an injury she caused to herself. Most people, security or not, in a realistic situation, would be extremely fucking frustrated to be forced to watch an accessory to the murder of an individual like this, and have them whine for medical over an injury they caused themselves while trying to escape. On top of this, Eloise worked most of her life to obtain the Strelitz surname, and being called by her first name by someone she considers a terrorist murderer would be more than enough provocation to be a little rough. As for the shotgun, that was an accident. I could probably have handled the containment better, yeah, that was my bad. And, no, I didn't call for medical because I was poked by admins. I don't have the log, but the admin in question contacted me just after I called for medical to speed up. When I said "take your time" I didn't think they'd take ten whole minutes of time. TL;DR: I shouldn't have grabbed you for 10+ minutes, but I don't think metagaming applies, nor the IC warden duty failing. OOC, yeah, my bad.

BYOND Key: Our Lord Spungus Character Names: Currently, Eloise Strelitz, Chiora Kvaratskhelia, A Fleeting Memory of Dim Carcosa, Dreams of Steel and Oil Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: #550000 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: Ultimately I want to play a Ta when I eventually get a command whitelist, but until then I will suffice with playing either very socially inept Unbound vaurcae or particularly 'smart' Bound vaurcae (think Ogryn Bone'ead intelligence, being able to maybe count their fingers on a good day) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Lobotomization, for one thing. The other thing would be a lack of knowledge of social norms. There's also the biological differences between humans and Vaurcae, and I've always found insectoid aliens to be more interesting than other, more 'basic' alien types. Amphibians and lizards are great, but bugs are neat. Character Name: Ra'Viax'Torr Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character: A young, Bound Bulwark, Torr's story is fairly short. Originally created to maintain structures in Luthien, Torr was repurposed by Queen Xakt's orders and shipped to the Horizon. On the Horizon, Torr works in Engineering under a contract with Zavodskoi Interstellar. It struggles with complex tasks due to its original purpose of patching holes and breaking down old walls, but is quite adept at building and smashing structures. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of a huge, not-particularly-smart biological excavator being used to patch hull breaches without the danger of pressure or radiation. Torr can be used for a myriad of purposes, and, considering its Bound status, has little reason to protest unless asked to do something like set up propulsion. How would you rate your role-playing ability? iunno, 4

I'm not a loremaster, but I AM a moron who gets confused over simple things and doesn't like things how they are. I would make the argument that they are, because the concept is featured kind of prominently in the lore pages for it (specifically the idea that, though stratified, the Dominian social structure can be navigated with hard work and/or networking).

See, but the thing with Dregs and Suits is the overwhelming presence of slang for each. Reinstated dreg can be remedied by having a dreg use suit slang in conversation. Morozi doesn't have any of these conventions, thus making the gap between Vulgar and High Morozi, effectively, unbridgeable except for flavor text
-
The accent, like HMR, is for members of nobility- however this accent would be for those who were relatively-recently elevated into the nobility. To visualize, High Morozi would be used for people who were either born into nobility or were otherwise raised in nobility. Elevated Morozi would be used for people who were elevated into nobility past a certain age, most likely 14 or 16. TL;DR If you were nobility as a child you speak HMR; if you became a noble as an adult you speak EMR. Edit: 2 hours later I realize this didn't address your concerns at all, but, in essence, this is High Morozi Lite - Secondaries that are loyal to the empire and considered part of nobility would take it, and would have the same, if not more expectations as their born-primary counterparts.
-
I'd like to start this by saying I do not condone language purism or the concept of accents being tied to prestige OOCly. Now that that's out of the way... Primaries and Secondaries of the Empire. The wiki page touches on the idea of Secondaries being elevated into the status of a Primary. It does not describe how this happens or what the differences between them are other than that they're shorter, which, frankly, I don't think anybody really needed to know. Normally, nobody would care about this. But I am a stupid asshole and I like to play characters who have achieved things in their life. One of these characters was born a Secondary, graduated a Strelitz academy with high honors, and was adopted into House Strelitz proper, with all of the fluff and honor of a member of the Great House itself (further cemented by her service in the Royal Morozian Orbital Assault Regiment), with the caveat that she doesn't own land, and, since she is abroad, cannot own land. The Empire's page is full of these double standards where nobility is not clearly defined and the process of secondaries becoming primaries is hinted at, but also discouraged, often within short spans of one or the other (e.g. "Land-owning nobility going abroad to seek employment or for extended amounts of time is a major social faux-pas that will inevitably see their land redistributed to another member of their family, their title stripped and their status as a member of the nobility placed in question," - At the top of the Peerage, Noble Orders, and Titles dropdown, followed by "Lord/Lady: A generic title used to refer to a landless noble lacking other honorifics, such as the children of a noble," which seems to imply that non-land-owning nobles exist and can be played.) I digress. The main issue I seek to bring to light is the lack of separation between Born Primaries and Secondaries-Turned-Primaries (henceforth referred to as Elevated Secondaries) at a glance. There are two Morozi accents, Vulgar and High Morozi. Vulgar Morozi is considered to be the dialect of common people, while High Morozi is considered to be the prestigious dialect of those above them. High Morozi is described, in the accent description, as being commonly taught to wealthy secondaries to brush shoulders with nobility (and the concept of Elevated Secondaries is noticeably lacking). As it stands, with accents, you are either a commoner or a noble, and there is no in between. My proposed solution is this: Give Dominians a third accent similar to how Eridani characters have Dreg, Suit, and Reinstated Dreg. In this case, something like Vulgar Morozi, High Morozi, and Elevated Morozi, to distinguish characters between Secondaries, Born Primaries, and Elevated Primaries. Educating people on how to "properly" speak was a very, very common practice right up until around the late '60s in a number of places and would fit the Empire's lore well. No self-respecting Great House would have somebody bear their name and go abroad speaking with the accent of commoners. The Great Houses should be concerned with, if not teaching the proper High Morozi accent to those they accept into the House, at least teaching those that they accept how to speak in such a way that makes them distinct from their Secondary roots, and, possibly, separates them from those who were born into the House. A reinstated Dreg accent is viewed as better than a non-reinstated accent, but worse than a Suit accent- An Elevated Morozi accent is viewed as better than a Vulgar Morozi accent, but worse than a High Morozi accent.

Eloise Strelitz Character Complaint
Spungus replied to SatinsPristOTD's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi, I play Eloise, and I agree that the accent doesn't fit. Sort of. Largely I think the problem lies in the fact that there is two Morozi accents (not counting Lyod and Fisanduh), and you're either a secondary or a primary. The wiki is also unhelpful in regards to this, because even the page describing the social classes is not clear on the difference between an elevated secondary and a born primary, and instead lumps them together as just primaries. Eloise is intended to be one of these secondaries who was elevated to primary status, though, again, this process is not outlined clearly either in the wiki page or the accent description for High Morozi ("While most typically associated with nobles it is often taught to wealthy commoners in order to more easily brush shoulders with nobility."; this opens a whole other can of worms on what the actual fuck accents even are, because the descriptions usually refer to a specific accent for one language as opposed to TCB, which I find can make it confusing to understand when an accent comes into play). My proposed solution (which I will eventually put into a suggestion) is this: Give Dominians a third accent similar to how Eridani characters have Dreg, Suit, and Reinstated Dreg. In this case, something like Vulgar Morozi, High Morozi, and Elevated Morozi, to distinguish characters between Secondaries, Born Primaries, and Elevated Primaries. Educating people on how to "properly" speak was a very, very common practice right up until around the late '60s in most places, and would fit the Empire's lore well. No self-respecting Great House would have somebody bear their name and go abroad speaking with the accent of commoners. Update: I have posted the suggestion, and it goes a little deeper into Eloise's backstory without being ICK OCK. Take a look. -
1. You mention finding merits in both the Scorned and Enlightened's version of the Iron Eternal. How do you believe this impacted them whilst on Xrim? They found it difficult to decide between the two schools' traditions, and would often attend bits and pieces of worship ceremonies from both schools, which didn't earn them many friends. Usually, they were ignored or not spotted. Ultimately this lack of meaningful contact caused them to leave Xrim to avoid the secular nature of life there. 2. Are they considered a citizen of the Covenant of Xrim? I notice you said they fear Glorsh-Omega, so did they voice themselves against it? They are considered a citizen of the Covenant, and voiced themselves against Glorsh, which added to their lack of friends among either circle. 3. You make mention to their origins. They appear to have been raised outside of a Cultivation Centre. How did this impact them while on Xrim? Being raised outside of a Cultivation Centre, Dreams of Steel and Oil is fairly small, and wound up being tagged following their arrival in Sanctus. Some time after they left Xrim, they had the tag removed, seeking to grow freely.

Ckey: Our Lord Spungus Characters: Species you are applying to play: Diona Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: Gestalt consciousnesses provide an unique challenge for both their writers and the characters interacting with them. At their most alien, Dionae are a species of worms that drink blood and become big smart after doing a reverse human centipede (centipede human?), and then proceed to argue with each other over what they think is right. At their least alien, they're an octopus made of worms that has human intelligence. That's cool. With the recent overhaul of the Eternal, though, I caught a glimpse of something that made me excited with the zeal that only a Mechanicus fan can feel: the Iron Eternal. I already like cultist cyborgs. I like cultist gestalt cyborgs even more. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: With some mindtypes, like singular sounds, the gestalt behaves like a single organism - with others, like Harmonious Hymns, the gestalt behaves like a sovereign nation. There's also the fact that Dionae can grow themselves by assimilating more nymphs, which is something I find very interesting. Specifically, though, what I find interesting is the Iron Eternal- Dionae can be used to augment or replace missing parts of other organisms or ships, but nobody really thinks about Dionae replacing or augmenting themselves. I, however, think that's very cool. Character Name: Dreams of Steel And Oil Please provide a short backstory for this character: Dreams of Steel And Oil began as a nymph named Memory of Smog in a Chaotic Cacophony on Xrim, outside of any of the major settlements. Blessed (or perhaps cursed) with the constant, recurring memory of hot, flowing metal and vast pools of thick black oil, Memory of Smog was soon cast off from its Chaotic Cacophony due to these memories proving unsettling to the other nymphs in the gestalt. Now alone (and not very scared), it began to seek out knowledge on these memories. As it travelled the surface of Xrim, it gathered other nymphs and shared its experience with them, eventually forming into a Tyrannical Tune mindtype, as the nymphs that would eventually become Dreams of Steel And Oil became more and more invested in Memory of Smog's journey. Eventually, Dreams of Steel And Oil happened across the sprawling city of Sanctus, and discovered what it was that plagued Memory of Smog's memories- a vast refinery located deep inside of the Aqoxii mountains that served as a place of worship for the Scorned. The overwhelming feeling of nostalgia rippled through Dreams of Steel And Oil. It was here that they began to follow the Iron Eternal, with a healthy mixture of opinions on whether the Scorned or the Enlightened are correct... However, these opinions are largely irrelevant to them, as Memory of Smog, the overseer nymph, finds equal merit in both the idea that artificial intelligence is the manifestation of the Eternal, and the idea that merging oneself with technology is the way to achieve transcendence. Dreams of Steel And Oil is focused more on synthetic integration than AI worship, but admits that the Scorned have some good ideas. That being said, they have a lingering fear of Glorsh Omega due to Enlightened propaganda. They would likely be played as a priest, but I could be convinced to have them be a part of Engineering (or potentially a machinist, as, despite their sympathy for the Scorned, they have no issues with subservient synthetics; in the same way that most religions don't prohibit slavery outright, Dreams of Steel And Oil sees no issues with enslaved machines). What do you like about this character? I love cyborgs, I love weird gestalt consciousnesses, this is both. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8.5/10. Notes: I need mechanicus slug men...

Remove Borging as a Punishment and change "execution" guidelines
Spungus replied to N8-Toe's topic in Rejected Policy
I feel like borging is less RP-conducive than just killing or marooning someone, mostly because your character that you've been playing the whole round gets lobotomized in a machine and then you have to roleplay as a robot. That sucks. It isn't fun for the antag. Then you get mocked and booed despite being thrust into eternal slavery for until your brain rots (which isn't going to happen for a long time) and either ghost or play borg until the shift ends. At least with marooning you get to be away from the ship and all of the murder-happy corporate employees who will use your borgification to go 'ugh borgification is so gross' 'so real, girl' and the machinist can go 'oh god what have I done this is just like Bobby J. Poopenheimer' TL;DR It's a great roleplay outlet for other people, but the antag gets no joy. -
As an antag on an HRP server, your responsibility is to entertain and antagonize the crew. If you're a good antag, you spend time thinking of and executing a gimmick. This can be anything from kidnapping people for ransom to being a serial killer leaving little clues and hints for Security to follow. If you're lucky, the crew goes along with it. But the crew is not held to the same standard when it comes to entertaining their enemy. More often than not, your reward for providing an engaging gimmick that is made for the whole crew to enjoy, you get your brain scooped out and put into a robot to be a slave for the rest of the round, regardless of what threat you actually pose. Fun. It's a pretty simple thing I'm asking for. For roleplay-based antagonizations, use a roleplay-based punishment. There is no inherent danger in the armed mutineer once he's been disarmed and ostracized by his peers. So... Why borg them? Why not maroon them or throw them in the brig until the round is over? Borging forces a person to immediately drop the character they've been playing the whole round (and usually comes with being harassed IC and mocked for getting caught). The easiest possible way to rectify this would just be to allow executions- sure, it's a little wacky for a megacorporation (or five) to be outright executing people, but, well, stranger things have happened. At least executing people lets them die on their own terms- borging people makes them, you know, a slave. I find it hard to believe that any government would look at the process of cyborgification and go "yeah that's so much less cruel than making him spacewalk without a suit!"- because, let's face it, it isn't. It's killing someone, driving a spike into their brain, and using it to power a robot- which, you can either consider to be execution (in which case just ask their preferred means of death) or lobotomizing and enslaving someone (which is actually fucking insane and some grimdark shit - in which case, execution shouldn't be prohibited). Or, maybe, just maybe- make use of marooning or imprisonment instead of defaulting to 'haha wetware robot!!" (Yes, this is salt in the form of feedback. Fight me. You know I'm right.)

Ublicto - IPC Application 2: "The measure of a robot"
Spungus replied to Ublicto's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Seems good, but I'd argue that the emotional processing from her Shell frame would have had to be installed on a datapack- the frame itself has no inherent emotion emulation capabilities. It could maybe be argued that there was some 'muscle-memory' so to speak in the Shell that caused her to behave strangely, but, that's just my thought. +1 anyway because robot gaming -
I would like to see more canon events, just ones that aren't as high-stakes. Something like a weird merchant or an unusual anomaly, just stuff that isn't particularly dangerous but still interesting.
