  1. Player of Clement Beach here, my memory of this round is foggy so please excuse me if I confuse the events with another round. Rather early on one of my team members reported a group of four heavily armed strangers in hardsuits near detective maintenance. We attempted to open communication with them, no reply. They shot on site and utilized weapons lethal to all of my team. Engagement wise at this point, the raiders had breached security, breached the armoury, utilized EMP grenades at one point, breached the station in multiple areas. As far as expected training goes, the cadet, two officers(?) and I with standard gear would not be able to successfully maintain the safety of the station and the people. We did successfully open dialogue regarding an exchange for the hostage, this fell apart quickly due to one of the raiders shooting me with a crossbow, pinning me to a wall. At this point, with how things were playing out it was viewed as such ICly; outmanned, out gunned and they had hostages and appeared violent without cause. Whatever conversation that took place to call ERT, I did approve of at this point. Once the SINGLE ERT member arrived to help we had received some new staff members in sec, engineering had finally been able to safely restore the brig to a safe standard. I'm rambling but I will attempt to hit the main points. When we called ERT security had no way to recover and handle the situation. ICly no one was willing to repair the brig due to one of the raiders being at large. Resupplying was impossible as the main body of raiders had cargo under their control. There was us, armed with stun weapons against people with lethal weaponry. When it came down to the captains choice, I believe it followed SoP regardless of their OOC intentions. I stated that we would not be able to regain control without supplies and the raiders actions had made negotiation unwise. Note: Our intention for the ERT call was for them to bring supplies. They did just that and the single trooper assisted us by leading the way once the hostage situation was dissolved. As far as I could tell being heavily involved, I saw no metagaming.
  2. This is going in circles. I would like to recommend full logs and an admin involvement.
  3. Head of Security here, I also am terrible with computers so not going to attempt to do the quoting thing. With my luck I'd download a virus. I'll add what I saw in this situation and compare it to an old situation that I've had in the past. 1. First things first. I arrived very late to this round right as the AI was presenting themselves as an antag. I lacked my full suit of gear and had just happened to grab the ion rifle as the captain ordered it to be taken out. Manfred being more involved with the situation and ICly knowing the necessary ways to safely breach the core, led me to decide that it would be more appropriate and efficient to have him lead the operation to breach and deal with the AI. 2. I've had other heads of staff lead operations in the past when it falls out of my expertise ICly. A changling round, I attempt to have the RD in charge and so on. 3. Short story: I am as about as robust as a piece of paper, we had a nuke op go SSD one round and Skull asked me to fill in. I did. I and the two other fully armed individuals stormed through engineering and engaged security in the hallway. As it happens due to the rounds progression and the antags previous engagements with the crew, cargo had become a militia of a sorts lead by a QM with military training. From what I saw, we had a QM lead a charge and kill us. I asked about this and this was OKAYED by the person that I ahelped due to player skills. Once again, hitting the point that your rank on the manifest will not and should not limit your player skills and back round within reason. 4. Could have, should have, would have. Again, not enough time to gear up fully and the "entire security department" (Myself and an officer present) were aware that the synthetic units were also rouge and still operating to a degree. Protecting the CE was our priority by my order. Again, this wasn't a rambo rush from what I saw. This was a man that had moved carefully and happened to have all of his decisions go his way. We were undergeared and undermanned. We all knew this. The only gear we had on us to take out the AI safely was the rifle. I handed it off to my officer, who eventually handed it to Manfred as we carefully looked into double checking the AI. 5. I will not speak for Manfred's conduct in your private discussion. However as far as I recall no "Badmouthing occurred". He said he got bwoinked. I asked why, he said why, I let him be. The only other thing that came from LOOC that I saw was him stating that he was still talking with you five minutes into the emergency that was still present as people were still dying. No name was dropped, no hint of rudeness that I could detect. Logs speak louder then words. So let's see them. 6. I've covered some of these points already. "ENTIRE security team" was an officer in a hardsuit and myself in standard gear. I gave her the ion she gave me the shotgun. No one was armed to the teeth. Rank =/= character training and ability (within reason). Now, I want to look at this from an IC perspective. Manfred is in charge of the operation, he knows that I and the officer are not well versed in the layout of the core and how to safely enter it. Why would he have us put in harms way when he may safely achieve that goal through other means? 7. Once again, will not speak for any other person's action. If his IC backround permits the action and it is done in a manner that supports the progress of the round then so be it. I've seen more outlandish things done with a full staff backing "A la cargo militia". I have no desire to speak for anyone but if Nursie, as the antagonist wished to say anything then it would be appropriate.
  4. I believe that the #1 issue holding some people back (me at least) is the large amount of negative experience interacting with Vaurca in game. Had the process been more heavily moderated and the volume of whitelisted players further controlled I believe that these negative experiences would have been far less memorable. So essentially, I like the new lore. I like the concept, backround and I suppose the problem is what it usually is-The People. And it takes a lot of effort or bricks to fix that. With a stronger moderation of the Vaurca race I think keeping them would benefit to the overall narrative of Jackboots sick, sick Space Fantasy.
  5. Nanako's concern is valid however my interactions with Jaun as my warden in the past has left me with a positive impression. With that note in mind I would give it a +1 as long as that issue is noted and worked on. Beyond that not much else to say. And remember, being a head of security is easy, so long as you are never wrong. ((Edit: If Jaun is the warden that kept up all of the paperwork about three weeks back during a high pop antag round then you deserve a trophy. If not: Disregard both this compliment and the positive feeling on the inside. Thank you.))
  6. Kill em' with kindness is what I always say Hell, half my appeal; I think, is that I'm not overbearing or overly involved. With that in mind pushing for a stronger team will be a group effort so I hope to utalize extended rounds and the staff team in that regard.
  7. Thank you for the feedback. That round was unfortunate, not only from that perspective but I had to go SSD and eventually leave without saying anything due to some IRL issues. However, I do think it important to learn from those things. If my greatest weakness is my underlings then; for me that means two things. 1. I'm doing something right 2. Time to step it up a knotch when dealing with my sec team. Incident reports for everyone!
  8. I'm an idiot who didn't realize he could delete his own post.
  9. It's been a while and I've tried to add some layers to Clement Beach as a character. Largely by incorporating a more direct approach when handling certain situations and when delegating labour within Security. Personality wise I've made his discriminatory behaviour with IPCs more apperent as Unity and the IPC Ark progress. I'm interested in how people are precieving these changes and if there are any concerns that could be discussed.
  10. Digging through the forms I find the above. I burst out laughing for about three minutes straight
  11. Reporting Personnel: Clement Beach Rank of Reporting Personnel: Head of Security Personnel Involved: Myself, Central-CMO, the station AI and the CE [Name escapes me, best to check on the manifest] Time of Incident: 3;00pm-4;00pm Real time: 12;00am-1:00am Pacific Time 01/03/2016 Location of Incident: Holodeck Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct [x]Other Exceeding Official Powers (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: About midway into the shift I and the CE decided to host a recreational time in the holodeck for staff to participate in. Using the holodeck to its standard operation we had several rounds of boxing and "Thunderdome" a full contact combat sport using swords and armour. It was midway into the event that we received a transmission from Central Command about an alleged abuse of equipment and negligence as we had allegedly allowed staff to do harm to themselves. Upon receiving the report we quickly ceased activity in the holodeck and made our way to my office to write an incident report to explain what was really happening and both co-signed it. Within a few short minutes Central faxed us a response. Stating that as long as we recognized our responsibility to make sure that no person was seriously injured [by getting the approval of any medical staff] and as long as we didn't interfere with productivity then we'd be free to continue our recreational event. At this time Central arrived as the CMO. Figuring that a stamp of approval from the head of medical would a better course we attempted to speak with him. Despite explicitly explaining the guidelines of the event, the fax report and the very nature of the holodeck and its safety protocols Central refused to agree to approve the event. It was at this time that I stated to Central that even if they did not agree to sign for the Event, people would still be able to freely use the holodeck so long as it didn't break any form of regulation. I even asked for some sort of report to show how it may be dangerous so that we may recognize it officially. It was at this point he stated thus "I will simply tell the AI to shut down the holodeck if any fighting happens" As I had no wish to cause a major incident over such a minor issue I stated over command communication that I would be writing an incident report on the matter as I believed he had overstepped is boundaries. It was at this point that both the station AI and the CMO stated a mirrored opinion, that as the lead medical personnel on the station, they had every right to shut down any activity they deemed unsafe for the crews health. [The equivalent of me saying that "I am the law"] I informed them both, rather bluntly that I would be making the report regardless of their thoughts. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: The report that I and the CE signed for was recognized and cleared by a duty officer aboard Central Command. The issue regarding the CMO was not reported until now Additional notes: I believe that if anything, that Central should be advised to review station regulation and directives...and perhaps read a text book on holodeck functionality. Exceeding Official Powers: To clarify why I marked this down as an issue is that the CMO is not granted the authority to permit access or lack of to the area of the holodeck. In this case where they deemed it medically unsound they refused to provide proof of such a statement simply using their position as reason enough.
  12. My ego has just leveled up to an unbearable amount. Seriously though, it's great to hear that I'm leaving a positive impression in security and on the server. On a side note, I don't think I've ever actually played as a borg on our server and if I had then it escapes my memory.
  13. BYOND Key: Icuris Character Names: Clement Beach [& and varying one offs that I play when slots are full] Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Dull Metal Grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: My desire to play as an IPC; like most, is my simple interest in their lore, behaviours and in game functions. From a lore perspective the IPC's have a very flexible background given the nature of their existence in our world. Some are military modules capable of taking on espionage missions, relying on their synthetic intuition to complete objectives. Others might be considered only slightly above the function of a high end borg, serving basic function in areas too dangerous for none machines to work. Following that I enjoy to see that in game many of the IPC's have a diverse behaviour and RP but are also able to stay within the guidelines of the IPC lore. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I believe the ideal difference between IPCs and humans on an RP level is the mutual understanding that IPCs; no matter their personnel standing, they are forced to acknowledge the fact they are lesser then humans. They earn less, have less rights then any species and when they were first introduced we had this huge discussion of what charge should occur when one attacks an IPC. Assault or Vandalism, as assault is pressed when a person is attacked. From what we see in game it is fair to say that some simply do not see an IPC as a person, regardless of how developed their AI is. As a result of this I see IPCs role on the server as to build their RP around the lore of mistrust and mistreatment of their kind and continue to see it done in many different ways. Character Name: Servo Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The Biesel produced "Servo" IPC is a mass produced line model that became outdated as it left production. Its initial design was to be a freethinking and intuitive presence in the service industry able to complete complex tasks above the programming of a cyborg: all on a bargain. As such the memory storage unit was only given enough space to specialize in a small amount of related tasks and required maintenance to change the units capability. This greatly limited its ability to be upgraded and as such was phased out of production soon after its manufacture and financial loss. The Servo unit aboard the Aurora would be an abandoned model simply working to prevent itself from being turned into a Space Cola can. As a result it takes its financials very seriously, especially considering the reduced pay it would receive. Beyond that, its basic function is to serve and as a result it would gain great enjoyment and fulfillment from being able to complete its tasks and pleasing the crew. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of using what's considered lore wise an outdated piece of technology on the station. Servo's limited programming capacity, I feel could make for some interesting moments in game. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 I've never been screamed at for doing a bad? Notes: If I am incorrect on any of my writing please feel free to say so. I wish to adhere to the lore as much as possible.
  14. ]A simple question but it's something that's been bugging be for a while. What can we as a community, do to support both the staff and server during situations that our population has grow too large to effectively manage? This comes from the like of what occurred at 12:00am Feb 15 [pacific time] where the amount of players on the server has stretched the staff too thin. Where issues would run rampant as the necessary resolution was stuck in a limbo. This is not a fault of anyone but it is a problem. To a degree most instances add to the role-play and create environments of varying degree, that carry their own tone for people to work with. In all honesty I thought it was neat that traitors that round were able to work with the chaos and complete their objectives utilizing the stations/servers current state. However when it gets to the point that so many call foul on behaviours I believe we have a problem to address. And the problem is simple. Can we; the players take on some responsibility during these chaotic times on the server? And to what extent would we be doing so?
  15. Reporting Personnel: Clement Beach Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Personnel Involved: (Anyone involved in the incident and their rank at the time of the incident)Majority of active staff, Security Team, Phoebe Essel-Chef, Houssam Jawdat-Head of Personnel. Time of Incident: Real time: 12:30am Pacific Time 2016/01/06 Location of Incident: Departures & Crew Transfer shuttle Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment [x]Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Waiting for the escape shuttle I and other members of staff witnessed one Houssam Jawdat forcefully handle One Phoebe Essel and physically make her consume a large quantity of alcohol without her consent. After several other issues arose Phoebe Essel expressed her desire to press charges over my PDA. However do to time constraints of the shuttles arrival and departure and Central's general rule of fighting aboard the shuttle I did not immediately proceed with the arrest. It was only after getting the greenlight from the sec team that I proceeded to start the arrest. At this point the perpetrator; who was to be detained for battery fled to the head of staffs section of the shuttle attempting to put an inaccessible door between us and him. Clearly refusing to come peacefully I and another officer drew our tasers with the intent to complete the arrest as he exited the section of the shuttle. It was at this time that the Head of Personnel tried to "Lawyer" their way out of the tight spot making various claims that "A warrant needed to be presented" or "That no charges had been claimed" or even further stating that we no longer had any authority over him and we were not to enforce regulation despite it being our job. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: None Additional notes: While taking place in the same shift as the earlier report this report is completely separate as it is an entirely separate issue. However, if both reports are to be used in an overall investigation of general behavior then I'd personally advise using them together as they occurred over a small period of time.
  16. Reporting Personnel: Clement Beach Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Personnel Involved: (Anyone involved in the incident and their rank at the time of the incident) Houssam Jawdat-Head of Personnel Time of Incident: (If unable to provide, leave blank) Between 14:30-15:08 Real time: Around 11:00pm Pacific Time Location of Incident: Cargo Lobby Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Security short on basic supplies, I Clement Beach went to cargo to order us some as we had under equipped officers. The Quartermaster there, assisted me with finding the correct crate. Before he punched in the order, Houssam Jawdat-the current head of personnel arrives. Upon me verbally telling what I intended to order he immediately told the Quartermaster to void security's orders. Paraphrasing this (I'm sure the security cameras have the audio files) Houssam stated that security had no need for more supplies and that cargo was to conserve its points for higher priorities. (Cargo had over 240 points) The quartermaster, demanding this order to be in writing. Promptly so the HoP wrote out a short paragraph with their stamp on it. As a result the Quartermaster begrudgingly denied our request. (It was never punched in) Upon Houssam's departure from cargo I request a copy of his order which is attached below. On a final note: Immediately after cancelling security's request Houssam approached me and whispered thus Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No other head of staff or internal affairs agent was present Additional notes: On a personnel note: As a member of staff who has worked as a head before I consider this apparent abuse of to be unacceptable of any head of staff. Regardless of any intent to conserve resource or any misinterpretation of security's resources this action was done out of malice and abused the rank of Head of Personnel. I hope that this issue is resolved smoothly and without further issues.
  17. Sounds like a useful and interesting idea. Leaves us some flexibility for rounds as well. I'm fully for it. I hope it gets done sooner then later.
  18. BYOND Key: Icuris Character name: Clement Beach Item name: Loyalty Implant Why is your character carrying said item to work? Basically, he has worked as a Head of Security a number of times, sometimes that position is filled out. However with him constantly being shuffled about in security positions I can't see him submitting to a surgery to remove and add his loyalty implant everytime he picks up a shift as a warden or officer due to being late into the round. In an RP sense: Clement Beach has served with Nanotrasen security and with the Aurora team for a large number of years. Being rather loyal to his company on his own and already signing the waiver for the loyalty implant injection as a HoS it would seem practical to simply keep the implant injected versus having it removed (as a change in position without an implant implies) Item function(s): To [forcefully] ensure that an implanted staff member is always behaving and thinking in a way that sees the best outcome for Nanotrasen.(Not the exact definition but that is how I see people kind of use it) Item description: Makes you loyal or such-Skull132 Item appearance: Small chip inside the skull of the person. Not visible without surgical removal. Additional comments: This item does not differ in appearance or function of a normal loyalty implant in game.
  19. And to go back to the main point, how are we as a community supposed to encourage creative conflict in extended rounds without overwhelming those who simply wish to join what is considered a slower round type. Like many of the guides out there maybe some of the more experienced players could write up some ideas. Even further would be forming low key events in game that are communicated to those involved before they start to allow a more developed RP to break out.
  20. As originally stated, I cannot see that type of behaviour as being appropriate in an antagonist round and only see it in mass during extended. If it isn't okay in antagonist rounds shouldn't extended be following the same rules and not be an exception?
  21. My memory is poor and I lack logs so I may forgot details but am making no attempts to falsify any incident and details. As such I will not state names and if anyone has details to add please do so. The incident that caused me to write this up was regarding an Extended round from Tuesday of this week. In this occasion I played the Head of Security. As a result I was more involved with some of the issues. What followed was the clear acknowledgement both OOC and IC was that a large amount of silliness was going to occur. However as the round progressed things became out of hand. The Following all occurred in the same round A bald chemist(who's name I recognize) attacked their CMO in the medical bay for seemingly no reason. Upon arrest; for the second time that I had seen their detainment they demanded s "lawyer" and that we had no right to hold them for the time that we did. At the CMO's request the chemist faced demotion but due to the lacking of a HoP the CMO simply held onto the chemist's ID to make sure the player would no longer have access to that department. Upon release they broke regulation again and faced detainment where they proceeded to yell insults at the security members and went SSD as soon as permabrig became an option. An assistant hacked through security's doors to meet with her "love". Ran about all of security to avoid being captured. A high temperature fire occurred at some point. I believe it was a holodeck fire. And several incidents also occurred where we ended up having five people in the brig facing 30 minute sentences most if not all are SSD. From what I saw in OOC and the immediate vote at the 2h mark very few were enjoying themselves. While each incident on it's own may not warrant more then a second glance but the combination of all these incidents inside of less then two hours created too much chaos for players to enjoy; what is assumed to be somewhat relaxed round and have to face the chucklefuckery at hand. The main point of this however is that in an antagonist round I cannot imagine most if any of this behaviour from being considered acceptable and that an extended round should be adhered to the same standards to avoid causing these types of issues to get out of hand.
  22. In the past week or so I and I'm sure others have noticed an influx of; for the lack of better word "chucklefuckery" in extended rounds. Granted with the server being visible in the week we are naturally going to have more possibilities for people to join and make issues. However, over the past few days I have noticed that a number of reoccurring names appear as "Problem Characters" in extended. This is not me reporting anyone so I will refrain for going into detail. Knowing that extended can sometimes be a bit bland it is common for players to create an RP situation where some sort of conflict may arise and be resolved and hopefully have everyone involved be engaged into the RP. However the high population of these characters and their poorly fabricated conflicts simply create OOC annoyances for people involved versus the engaging RP that may occur. An example of this would be a recent extended round that had to have a red alert advisory, a permanent brig advisory and a crew transfer vote right at the two hour mark; which went through because most of the people(from what I could tell) were done The round had exhausted them to the point of no longer enjoying the game and from the few I asked, they were not able to have any meaningful RP with the chaos about. To reiterate, this was not well planned, engaging, or meaningful chaos. Most of these actions could have been considered self-antag if taking place during an antagonist round. The hope here is that mayhaps we can, as a community find a possible solution. And in the event that I'm blowing smoke and no one sees any issue then all the power to you and have a fine day.
  23. Reporting Personnel: Clement Beach Rank of Reporting Personnel: Head of Security Personnel Involved: Phoebe Essel-Assistant, Victoria Beach- Chief Medical Officer Time of Incident: Various Location of Incident: Various Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: This report serves as a compilation of various incidents that either were not handled by superior personnel as the stations situation demanded attention to more important matters. First and foremost I will not state that I have not bantered with Miss. Essel in various exchanges however my understanding was that they were in fun versus malice. Now, issue arise where Phoebe Essel regardless of rank goes out of her way to cause both my wife and I grief during our shift. The most recent situation directed at me was during an uncontrolled fire Miss Essel stated over general communication that she hoped that my "Useless wife burned to death" while I was unable to make contact with my wife due to her being incapacitated. As one can imagine, this type of hostile behavior is appalling and extremely concerning as this attitude of hers is not a new experience for many. In the future I would like to see her attitude curbed for a more appropriate work place behaviour and to not be given as much leeway in her repeated actions. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: No Additional notes: If any questions or statements regarding the listed incident or other issues are required of my wife or I we would prefer to do so over private communication.
  24. I've played Space Station with this person for an extended period of time and with that in mind I fully support their application and hope to see them happily play their selected race soon.
