Player Complaint - Eleanor Shen & HRU-06

BYOND Key: ParadoxSpace

Game ID: bUn-afTI

Player Byond Key: XanderDox and IAmCrystalClear

Staff involved: Zelmana and Alberyk

Reason for complaint: HRU-06 had a constant grudge against me, the entire round, for extremely tenuous reasons. I went into the brig for the first time, and immediately it began making passive aggressive statements IN BOLD about my choice of uniform, which was entirely regulation. Later, after pocketing force gloves (and reasonably denying it, stashing them in a disposals bin for later antaggery,) it demanded that right after I was searched personally by Vira Bolivar, I was to be searched /again/, because 'that's what a criminal would do.' The entire round it was trying its' hardest to get me in trouble, including trying to stack a thousand different charges on me for /throwing a fucking burger at it./ Later when I was in communal, it taunted me saying 'I will win again, Rockwell', putting its' helmet on, and flashing me for daring to take a seat. It acted completely the opposite of how a reasonable Security Officer should.

Eleanor Shen, the other reason my round was entirely wasted, undertook the heinous crime of completely shutting down the rev gimmick. Our goal was for Security to start arresting up 'psychics' found through psych evals, and doing nothing about it. Even after my announcement was made, she said 'I am doing nothing about it, fuck ParadoxSpace.' (Paraphrased.) There was no real reason aside from announcement lawyering that this would be done.

Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes. Nothing much happened at all besides I think HRU got warned.

Approximate Date/Time: 5/14/2018, around 8:00 PM MST.

I was not a loyalist and had no obligation to go megatrip evil.

The announcement specifically said ""We recommend that all psychics are rounded up, and dealt with at Captain-level discretion, regardless of Tau Ceti law". At my discretion as Captain, the few psionics I knew of were people I knew to be calm, kind and law-abiding people, and I had no reason to use my discretion to arrest them until they acted up. Then I entered cryo because I had a massive headache.

When you sent your clarification announcement, I immediately changed course and had every single one sent to the Brig, including those I was friends with. This issue with me was addressed in round, and deemed a non-issue apparently by Alb, as he didn't carry on with the ahelp - please file a staff complaint. I will not comment further.

hey I was the HOS

It was pretty obvious to me that HRU-06 was making it their primary effort to slap a lot down on your character. I don't usually see officers who are so insistent on repeatedly screwing over the same character over and over as a security officer. It's a bit distasteful the way I see it. I don't have the full story in regards to that, but that's just how I saw it. I clearly don't have the full picture, personally.

My argument for dealing with the first issue of the shift regarding your character was as follows:

* Warden calls you out for pocketing force gloves he was trying to stow in secure contraband crate for the armory.

* IPC officer also sees you walk away with the gloves in your hand.

* Back and forth goes on, I tell you to submit to a search but you aren't seen for awhile. I conclude you left simply to dump the evidence.

* You do submit to the search but only after arriving to where I am after a minute or two.

* I have the suspicion that you dumped whatever you took, 2v1 testimony is much more potent to believe than 1v1.

* IPC hounds you again, I never intended them to be so aggressive about it, I just insisted they follow you in case you went around to collect your stolen treasure.

* You get searched and, well, uh, your character strips naked in front of my HOS about it and my character was understandably appalled.

* I get you suspended for this and that's that.

* AI later tells me the force gloves are down the crusher. They get recovered and I do forensics on them. Your fibers and prints.

* All the notable stuff between me and you from there.

I'm pretty sure I saw you in the brig before this point. It is my personal belief that security officers should be easily identifiable (as it is important to know who you can trust in a situation), and I try to enforce this in-round. Your character wore a bright red headband and a leather jacket, meaning only the legs of your uniform was visible.

Later, after pocketing force gloves (and reasonably denying it, stashing them in a disposals bin for later antaggery,) it demanded that right after I was searched personally by Vira Bolivar, I was to be searched /again/, because 'that's what a criminal would do.'
You stole the gloves in front of both the warden and an officer, ran off with them in your hands, and came out clean when searched. Clearly something was up, so I followed you, found you stashing something into your bag (i heard the noise) whilst next to a disposals bin. I just want to point out that it wasn't me that said that a criminal would do that, another officer did.

trying to stack a thousand different charges on me for /throwing a fucking burger at it./
You also grappled me in the hallway after being shown a warrent for battery, and your accomplice attempted to assault me with a fork, which in my mind bumped your charges up. Whilst in custody you constantly threw out insults to A.) my character's race, B.) the HoS in general, which again, in my mind, bumped your charges up.

Later when I was in communal, it taunted me saying 'I will win again, Rockwell'
I refute this with simply mentioning (which, because I just close the game at the time of writing this, I cannot quote) the fact that you challenged me to a second fight. I was simply advising you against it.

putting its' helmet on
It was code blue. I was allowed my helmet on, I had just simply neglected to do so until this point.

and flashing me for daring to take a seat
This was a misunderstanding, for which I apologise for. The Detective offered Tabi a drink, and then you walked up to it, and the detective said "that is not for you". Next thing I saw was the detective's lunch box go missing from the tile next to you, and I assumed you'd taken it. I'd just tabbed in at this time and didn't get the full story, and acted on what knowledge I had.

Personally I feel like the whole gimmick was a bit awkward. It was a good idea, but poorly executed, neither of our faults.

I hope this clears up the misunderstanding, and let me know if there are any more points I need to refute.

EDIT: fixed a typo ("will" to "was")

Alright, after reviewing the logs on Eleanor Shen's (Xanderdox) half of the complaint, we have found that it was solved within the round. The way they initially dealt with the announcement was valid, detaining all psychics was not an order, it was a recommendation and how to best deal with them was also left at the captain's discretion.

As for the part on HRU-06 (IamCrystalClear), they've already been spoken to during that round by Alberyk. If you feel that the actions taken were insufficient, please submit a staff complaint.

Locking and archiving in 24 hours.
