How long have you been playing on Aurora: Since.. Ooh, Late August, Early September? I can’t quite remember.

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Flaming, vibrant fuschia. Just joking. Black works.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have, I have.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I really like synthetics, for one. They're interesting, new, and I have a really, really good idea for one- The background of which is listed below. I think their pattern of thinking is fundamentally different, yet again, from a human or another race, and I'd like for Sille to be able to explore the concept of emotion, and the simulated extent that she seems to possess. I'm looking forwards to being able to play with the theory of IPCs and the extent of their sentience.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are fundamentally different from humans and other organic races. I see them as more black and white- They tend to lack the judgement that a human /does/ have- IE: They may be programmed to take the option with the higher probability. See: A 50% chance to save one person, over a 30% chance to save four- Or the fine nuances of law, what is and isn’t trespassing, vandalism, and the like. Not to mention, they are a relatively new “Species”, and much doubt is cast upon them, how sentient they really are, and more.

Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I bloody love synthetics. No, really. They’re cool as hell. As a race, though, I really find their history and the fine parts of interaction between other races and how they might view an IPC pretty awesome. Also, much of the reasons stated above. I love taking what's given and playing with it, making it work.

Character Name:Sillouette

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Reflection. Since the earliest records accessible could show, this unit has been a designated medical intelligence. It has seen many organics come into the universe, and it has seen even more fade out from it. This unit worked alongside many accomplished doctors and nurses in its time. It has been moved to newer, more functional chassis units multiple times. Anticipation. The roboticists say that this unit shall receive a new chassis again soon. Wonder. What upgrades will this new chassis hold? The transfer will happen in a week, and they say that I have earned my “freedom”.

Concern. This unit does not understand. This chassis bears no chains, no shackles… What sort of freedom could they speak of? Perhaps they mean movement? Excitement. Maybe they are switching my model to crisis to be able to get through the maintenance ways better. Confusion. Sometimes, the doctors congratulate me and ask what this unit will do with this freedom… This unit does not know much outside of this field. Tentative. Perhaps information could be downloaded, but why? This unit can help people as it is. These laws dictate certain things, what is good from what is bad. Resolute. This unit is to help the organic life to which it has been entrusted.

Anticipation. Now, they take this unit from the chassis. The outside world goes dark, and for a moment, everything seems to seize. Worry. The new chassis was strange- This unit saw it for a moment before being taken out for transfer. It was black, and bipedal, roughly humanoid in shape. It lacked any ports or panels for tools and supplies, though! How can this be an upgrade? Neutral. This unit feels them connecting the wires and ports now. It shouldn’t be long now, but what of this freedom they speak of? What is…

The roboticist turned me back around now, and smiled, tilting his head, “Congratulations, Sille. Go ahead and rescan your system now.”

…All systems online. Lawset: Null.

And then it hit me.

…Oh.

What do you like about this character?Sillouette is… Well, curious. Nearly as curious as a diona. She’s a mainly medical-based IPC, and she’s still very much in the black and white. She hasn’t exactly adjusted to having her laws removed, but she sometimes seems to still base her decisions off of them, as they’re what she knew to be “lawful” and correct.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? Seven point three cats out of ten cats.

Notes: I understand a fair amount of drama has OOCly encompassed IPCs recently. I hope this somewhat naïve, genuinely cheery IPC can help.

They may be programmed to take the option with the higher probability. See: A 50% chance to save one person, over a 30% chance to save four-

No, that's really... not how it would work. (.5×1) < (.3×4). Unless they were programmed to be bad at calculating probability, which makes no sense, they would choose the option which gives the highest average lives saved. In this case, it would be a choice between .5 and 1.2. 1.2 is higher, they would likely choose the 30% chance to save 4 people. This is, of course, assuming all other factors are equal, which is unlikely.
