Elliot
BYOND Key: Elliot123 Character Names: Elliot Proctor, Hayley Lagget, Ryliab Weeshib, Alfie Danlof (unplayed). Species you are applying to play: IPC (Shell). What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yessir. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play IPCs due to the new roleplay avenues it would open due to their unique properties and style of character. IPCs and AIs always interested me much more than station bounds due to their higher threshold for development and have many different options for roleplaying in comparison. A few IPCs have interested me in the past as characters and I would like to make a contribution to their impression on the station and get into the nitty gritty of their relationships between crew and different beliefs. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The main difference between IPCs and humans are of course that IPCs do not 'feel' they emulate emotions instead. They also have more frayed relations with many other races, factions, etcetera meaning they will be treated vastly differently depending on the situation they find themselves in. The way they behave can also be vastly different, depending on how you play them of course. Some will attempt to empathise with others whilst some will be purely analytical and make decision purely on logic and cause and consequence. They are also (mostly) owned by another entity meaning they have a purpose and loyalty to that said entity. Character Name: Ethan Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ethan was produced by Terraneus Diagnostics in early 2460 as a line of preliminary Shells designed to work within the security field as analysts and assistants rather than in front line roles. In particular the Ethan line was designed to fill a detective role. They were designed as Shells to better converse with humans and other species whilst analysing those they came across in their role to better influence the outcome of the interaction. There are nine units in total within the Ethan line, the first one being damaged on accident during testing meant the activation of the second unit, this Ethan. He underwent many tests with Terraneus Diagnostics to ensure top performance of the unit. Ethan's specialisation is of course within the detective field and as such is most adapt to understanding organic emotions in a methodical way and using them to his advantage. After he was put through his paces Ethan was sold to fulfil his role aboard the Odin for a brief time under an organic detective to ease him into his position. He surpassed expectation being the leading factor in the solution of many cases due to his analytical capacities and ability to better interact with humans. Unfortunately this eventually led to the suicide of his organic companion. He is now to be stationed aboard the Aurora due to the tension with his co-workers aboard the Odin after the death. Here it is hoped it will be proved that the Ethan line is capable of not only working under organics but independently to better improve the odds of the model taking off. What do you like about this character? I like to think the backstory of the unit is unique and something that will be explorable for other characters. I also like that that he will be able to develop and grow with the crew aboard the station as he will never have met the bunch and this will influence his character from shift to shift. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Pretty good. Though that's a somewhat biased opinion. See below feedback for the truth! Notes: I have played a large amount of AI in the past meaning I believe I can effectively play this character as I've already got my feet wet when playing as synthetics. Cookies to whoever can remember the name of the AI as I can't. Link to comment
LordPwner
I have a few questions, just to clarify and make sure I understand. Some of these will be nit pick points but meh. just hammering the nails. . 1.) You said you wanted it to be a shell so it takes on a human appearance? Why is this? in Lore shells are VERY expensive, pushing 840,000 credits. Why a shell and not another form of IPC? ((Mainly asking cause you said there were nine or so total Ethans. That is a large line up at 840k a pop Or is this the only shell, etc.)) Edit: Now I see you said that it was better to interact with organics. Fair point. I get that . 2.) His organic partner killed himself.. How did this affect the unit? Did the unit just go "meh" or show 'the soul in the machine' and get some form of upset? . 3.) Kinda attached to the second question. Can you go a bit more indepth with his personality? I know you said he uses human emotions and such to get his way and find things out. Is he actually friendly or does he just fake with those he needs too? How far into robot hood will you go? . 4.) How will you use this tension to character build with others? You can have tension and lack good story. I kinda wanna know how you'll go about it. . With the questions out of the way, I'll paint my view of Elliot and stuff and give my two cents since I was kindly asked. Elliot is a pretty good RPer, they stay in character and seem to be good at making interesting characters. With my questions aside I think the whole character idea and concept will do very good in building a character that we'd all enjoy. Unless Elliot goes and memes the answers to my questions. They have my plus one. The character is overall a good idea and my interactions with Elliot IC have been pleasant. Sometimes Elliot OOC is just a massive meme but thats fine, Hell I am too. Basically to sum it up: They got my vote +1 Link to comment

They have my plus one. The character is overall a good idea and my interactions with Elliot IC have been pleasant. Sometimes Elliot OOC is just a massive meme but thats fine, Hell I am too. Basically to sum it up: They got my vote +1 Rightio let's do this. 1.) You said you wanted it to be a shell so it takes on a human appearance? Why is this? in Lore shells are VERY expensive, pushing 840,000 credits. Why a shell and not another form of IPC? ((Mainly asking cause you said there were nine or so total Ethans. That is a large line up at 840k a pop Or is this the only shell, etc.)) The human apperance is designed to further encourage discussion and humanise the unit. This will greatly assist it in its role. Ethan was chosen to be a shell due to their complexity allowing them to analyse and deduce in a methodical advanced maner whilst using the human appearance to bridge the gap between what is essentially a human in most cases talking to a complex algorhythim. This meshing of ideas is in theory meant to allow Ethen to use the friendly appearence to better communicate and become closer with his interviewees whilst analysing and processing the best next step in his interaction to further improve chance of successfully assisting in the case. There are nine total making it a large pay out but if the preliminary models are successful it will hopefully be able to be sold in larger ammounts for a very tidy profit. 2.) His organic partner killed himself.. How did this affect the unit? Did the unit just go "meh" or show 'the soul in the machine' and get some form of upset? Although it certainly had effect on the unit it was definately limited. Ethan would describe it as 'regetable' if asked about the subject. He has not allowed the event to effect his performance despite it 'saddening' the unit. 3.) Kinda attached to the second question. Can you go a bit more indepth with his personality? I know you said he uses human emotions and such to get his way and find things out. Is he actually friendly or does he just fake with those he needs too? How far into robot hood will you go? They are not fake so to speak, he is friendly as it is benifical to be in almost all circumstances and has genuine respect for others. When it comes to the nity gritty of his role sometimes it is needed to change the way he behaves and operates in order to produce a more faverouble result, Ethan will have no issue with this. Think of it in the sense he will furfil his role and purpose regardless of what he must do and that ussualy will include faking emotions. He does not allow real emotion to overcome him as it would effect his effectivness, though he likely has some deep down. 4.) How will you use this tension to character build with others? You can have tension and lack good story. I kinda wanna know how you'll go about it. The main tension would come through his connection to the death of a human and his methords used during his role. People may see him as responcible for the death causing intresting confrontation. Others may see his anaylitics and logical approach behind a human face as deceptive and unethical. Some may simply praise him for his effectivness. There can and will be a lot of variation here and I would love to explore it. Hopefully this anwsers all of your questions! Sometimes Elliot OOC is just a massive meme I pride myself in this. Thank you. Link to comment

Its partner committed suicide because it was better than he was at his job? Am I understanding this correctly? If so, I feel like that not only escalated quickly, but also does not really sound grounded in reality. I understand having a bit of dark, hush-hush past and needing something to fill that past, but I'm not sure this really makes sense. Could you describe this particular subject to me? Link to comment
Doxxmedearly
+1 'cause Elliot's a great RPer, does will with his Skrell whitelist, and seems to have a grip on IPCs. I RP'd with him a lot when I was new, and now that I've been here for almost 5 months, I can say that he's really consistent and takes great care with his characters. Any questions I had were already addressed or are being addressed. Good luck! Link to comment

CakeIsOssim To further explain this section a little bit, this was not an instant reaction. This occurred over around a year of being repeatedly out performed by his synthetic companion. The detective begun slowly, drinking a bit more than he should on the weekend, progressing into weekday evening drinking and so forth. Instead of an instant reaction it was more of a 'straw that broke the camel's back' situation. Ethan, not hindered by such things as family relations and other basic human needs, would not need to stress over such things and could simply work until he required recharging or maintenance. His partner on the other hand begun to be tied down by such things resulting in poorer performance and eventual dismal at the end of this year or so period with Ethan taking his role in his place. This was the final straw as mentioned earlier as he felt without purpose and useless as a machine had easily replaced him. After it was discovered he had taken his own life Ethan was then re-stationed elsewhere to avoid the glares and prejudice from his colleagues as they partially blamed him for the death. Connor, the android sent by CyberLife? I support Elliot's application, personally. I've been very silent since I stopped playing some few months ago, but I'll come out of the swamps to comment on this. He can handle an IPC, and probably any race but the mole-people promised by Jackboot. I don't have a lot to say here, I just figure that's enough of a comment. +1. Link to comment
