GlitterGuts
BYOND Key: GlitterGuts Character Names: Lily Phitz Kain Kokkeler Laura Angel Ka'rii Tou Tomo Hatake Chloe Welsh Adrian McKinnley Jajii Lod'ur Seel'maru Kai'sa Tito Ta'an Kozi Karr' Kor Laux Matzi Lodurr Yagma Izwurla Tatamii Izwurla Yashi Izwurla Kuranai Izwurla Auto-Doc Merko Izwurla Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/a Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I love playing as synthetics and I feel that this would give me more depth and personality to work with compared to a station-bound. This will also let me experience IPC life for myself and allow my other characters to empathize better. It also would be a nice challenge as borg chargers arent super common and will be interesting to balance my duties and downtime accordingly. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For the most part, they can withstand more hazardous work environments like Xenobio and Engineering, and especially virology, although their weakness to EMPs is glaring. Even though they have some personality, its mostly artificial, making them much more predictable than organics. IPCs also have a wide array of models, designed for different task. Hephaestus making the harder utility frames, while bishop and zeng-hu focus more on mobility or luxury. These IPCs can be either free or bound. Some IPCs can purchase freedom once a set criteria have been met. In extremely rare cases even stationbounds may become IPCs. Character Name: CRATUS (working off the greek "Hephaestus" theme, an offshoot of Kratos, who is a physical representation of spirit and strength. I can change it if you dont like it.) Please provide a short backstory for this character: CRATUS is a Heavy-Duty G-2 Hephaestus frame, designed to clear rubble and wreckage as well as patch holes in ships and stations alike. Its heavy plating helps protect it from micro-meteors, space debris, and falling rocks. Not needing oxygen, it makes them perfect for working in a vacuum. It's hydraulics also allow it to carry much heavier loads than most organics, for moving resources or machinery into place. They always walk with their head high, their jumpsuit spotless and well ironed. Shortly after creation, CRATUS showed the same symptoms that an organic with OCD would have. They go to great lengths to keep its workplace organized with all his tools in neat, symmetrical assortments, and showing great discontent when in the presence of litter, filth, and pests. They refuse to leave any rubble, blood, or filth at an operation site, and wont deem their work complete until its spotless. This being said, they are quick to make friends with the janitor for the shift, occasionally sneaking them gifts to win their favor. They take an extreme degree of pride in their work, chastising the other engineers for shoddy work or incomplete repairs (I.E. only putting down one glass pane after a carp attack, you know what im talking about). They will do what they can to recycle damaged station equipment and materials, collecting broken glass and fried electronics to be reprocessed into raw materials. They were manufactured on HRS-Lemnos and used to assist in the stations maintenance. After 3 years of service, they were shipped away, being contracted for emergency repairs where it was deemed too hazardous for an organic to preform. CRATUS currently resides on Aurora Station as a maintenance technician, keeping the place organized, safe, and comfortable for the crew. They hold their position with pride and take the training of apprentices with the utmost seriousness. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think Im decent, but Im learning every day. Having a new playstyle open will help me versitalize my role playing abilities Notes: I try to build my characters to grow alongside the crew, as it allows them to create bonds with regular members. geeves
I was quite involved with the creation of this application, as GlitterGuts asked me to give them hints and feedback about applying for this. They took the feedback incredibly well and even rewrote the character after a specific piece of feedback was given. I believe they've got what it takes to play a good synth, having seen some interactions of their other characters. +1. Link to comment
kyres1
Okay, time to reply. You're really enthusiastic about this so far. The backstory is fantastic. It's another new and fresh idea and, while I do intend to one day defeat them for their evil deeds against Humanity, I do trust Geeves' word on the matter. I love your idea of a clean-freak robot. It betrays the image of a big stronk G2 and gives it a vulnerable trait - a very blatant one, without stooping into gimmicky territory. I have one question and but one issue with the app. The question is pretty simple - are they free, or owned by now? My issue is just as simple. I'm really keen on accepting this app for the backstory alone but I do have to ask you to work on your reasoning for applying for IPCs. A rewrite isn't needed, just at the very least a short paragraph of something else. The reason I ask this is because it's very appearance and mechanically centralized, and one of the things I need to watch out for most is the folks who simply play the race for the mechanics and not the roleplay, perspective, or circumstantial differences. Some people have had really good responses to this and I'm looking forward to seeing what you can think of with just that little push. Link to comment

Working on aurora is their way of working off his life-debt to become a free positronic. As it stands, contractors cant be heads, but if they were to finally purchase their freedom, they could achieve their goal of becoming a CE, eventually. They hope that their hard work, diligence, and dedication to their job will lead them down the road of success where his work will be properly recognized. I feel that this gives them both a goal to strive for in game, as well as an extra facet that can played upon by other crew members. Being so caught up in his public image and the image of the station may lead to some interesting interactions between any antag or fool that dares defile his sacred workplace. Link to comment
