Doc Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 (edited) CCIA Staff Application Basic Information Byond key: TheDocOct Character names: Current: Denise Rashidi, Hope Kifer, Jamie Roe, Jenna Rajwa Older, retired characters: Lily Kadel, Victoria Kincaid, Georgia Oppenheimer, Halogen, Kate Poehl, Kendall Dallas, Eliana Schaffer, Carnelian Age: 19 Timezone: U.S. Central Time, GMT-05:00 What times are you most available?: 12:00PM - 12:00AM Experience How long have you played SS13?: 3, going on 4, years. How long have you played on Aurora?: 2, going on 3, years. How active on the forums, discord and/or server are you? Forums - Infrequently, but largely because I don't have much to contribute. I check suggestions I'm interested in, lore developments, and announcements. Discord - Effectively 24/7, either on my desktop or mobile. Server - I try to get several rounds in a week. My activity took a deep plunge for several months in order to break for college after some real life issues came up, but those are resolved and I've been bringing my activity back up to speed for the past few weeks. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Not that I'm aware of! Have you ever volunteered as moderation staff for any other servers, SS13 or otherwise?: Here on Aurora, yes, as a moderator for roughly a year and a half and an admin for roughly a year. Do you have any other experience that you believe would be relevant to a position in the CCIA?: As admin-staff here on Aurora, I functioned as Admin-CCIA Liaison for roughly half a year. Personality Why do you want to join the CCIA?: I greatly enjoy the work and responsibilities of CCIA- working as admin liaison and investigating the OOC aspect of these reports was always interesting and in some ways entertaining to me, and I've always been somewhat jealous of the agents getting to piece together the meat of the problem from an IC perspective, and resolving those complaints in a meaningful way. Escorting CCIA agents is one of my more enjoyed roles on the server, both having unique insight on their investigation and having the opportunity to interact with the less-common Central Command side of the IC universe. What do you think are the most important qualities for a CCIA Agent to possess?: Impartiality. Agents are trusted to take an IC reports by characters they may not like, from players they may not like, and resolve the issue in a way that is both plausible from the IC perspective they have and satisfactory from the OOC perspective of the complaint. This also applies to the handling of faxes and interactions with round flow, and playing a Central Command character- these are tasks and roles that have significant weight on a player's round, and actions taken with them should be as neutral as feasible in terms of player enjoyment. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is in an ongoing round?: CCIA effectively tempers the isolation of the limited nature of our server with an outside influence from the world we're expected to believe exists. From simple faxes for information or advice, to managing response teams and command directives, CCIA let the station feel a little less like the bubble drifting through the empty void that they are. In that vein, CCIA are also expected to moderate their interactions with the station and antagonists that may be on it with respect for the flow of the round and the antagonist's efforts, and in some cases may be expected to work with them, temporarily assist them, or otherwise take specific actions to provide a better experience for the player-base in general. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is outside of the server?: Outside the server, CCIA helps reconcile the round-based nature of the server by acknowledging incidents that would otherwise disappear between rounds, and resolving minor disputes and issues that would otherwise, eventually, necessitate admin intervention. Incident reports provide the stopgap between a character's realistic misdeeds or mistakes and rule-breaking, unrealistic, chronic failure, and assists in the realistic interpretation of a workplace that maintains expectations and standards for its employees. Agents are expected to resolve them in a manner both as fair as feasible to the parties involved, and that concludes- or at least contribute to the conclusion of- the issue in a realistic manner. How do you handle stress?: I take effort to try and avoid overloading myself, and manage my time on server when necessary to avoid becoming too overwhelmed. However, in my experience I am more than capable of handling the responsibilities of my life and my hobby well enough to avoid needing to do so. How well do you work autonomously?: I'm fully willing to assign myself to work and see it through without specific direction so long as I know it's within my jurisdiction to do so, particularly with tasks such as responding to faxes that I actually enjoy in and of itself, something I'm aware of from my past experience in CCIA.
