Kaed Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Poison is an extremely underutilized mechanic because of how difficult it is to use. It's very hard to administer it to food without a syringe what put it in the special container that the chef can make with that machine. Even if you do put it in food or drink successfully, most poisons act instantly, and dealing toxloss of even 0.1 immediately telegraphs that they've taken damage on their health HUD. It doesn't have to be this way. I've been on servers where your health HUD doesn't display toxloss damage until it gets past a certain threshold. You can appear to be a perfect health and be having stomach cramps in body pains. I strongly suggest this feature is implemented somehow. Even if it isn't though, I think we need to make it so poisons act on a delay - only the strongest poisons like cyanide should immediately begin killing you. The rest should take a minute or two before the first damages beginning, to make it harder to detect the source of the poison. There's also some merit to be had in the possibility of applying it to weapons.
Roostercat Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 I agree with this as i agree poison should be on a delay, but I disagree that toxloss should be a delay on the Health hud as Vaurca players like me may not notice that we just ran out of phoron or inhaled oxygen until it is too late, especially those new to the species. Subtle cues such as stomach cramps would make sense as well.

You should be more meticulous about your precious phoron reserves! Bugmemes aside though, Im 100% onboard with an alert delay with all kinds of poisons.

I am usually fine with my phoron, that was moreso saying if you switch masks and cant tell or if those new to the species run out

I don't see that coddling vaurca players is really that necessary. It's a mistake you make probably once, then learn to be alert.
