Kaed Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 BYOND Key: Kaedwuff Total Ban Length: Indefinite Forum/Command ban Banning staff member's Key: Abosheb Reason of Ban: Being rude on the forums. Reason for Appeal: I don't really have a lot of say in my defense here. I've been a bit of a butt over the last year or so, mostly on the forums, but a little bit on the server too. I have a tendency to let my temper get the better of me in disagreements with people that is probably well known among the regulars, most of which probably don't much care for me as result. For quite a while after I was issued my ban I told myself that I didn't need this community, it's full of hypersensitive children analogues who can't take criticism, and whatever other excuses I used to justify the reason why everyone else but me was in the wrong here. I'd be lying if I said part of me didn't still want to think that - it's hard to admit you're wrong and the asshole. But I spent several months looking at other servers, and I found that none of them really had the community or feel to them that made my time with this one feel so special and fulfilling. As many flaws as I find myself being upset with, this is the best server I've ever been able to find, at least for me. So, I'd like to give it another try, hopefully with a better perspective this time on how important it is to get along with everyone else here, even if I don't always agree with them. For what it's worth, I'm sorry that I was such an angry asshole who snipped at everyone until the staff finally had enough of me. The best I can offer you is that I'll try to do better.
Faris Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 For clarification. You'll need to independently apply for your command whitelist, as it was stripped as opposed to a command job ban. As for the forum ban. I have no qualms with removing it, but not presently. I feel like you've been given a lot of chances to improve on this behavior and that you have not exhibited enough activity with the community since the forum ban was applied for me to feel certain that this won't be a reoccurring situations. I asked for some information and you've had 6 connections on the server itself with 0 rounds joined, which to me I feel is insufficient at the time being. Appeal denied.

I asked for some information and you've had 6 connections on the server itself with 0 rounds joined, which to me I feel is insufficient at the time being. Appeal denied. My behavior on the server remains for the large part entirely separate from my behavior on the forums. I never received a ban on the server itself, just from communicating on the forums, because my behavior on the server never involved any angry attacks on people, I'm focused on roleplaying and the round itself. Arbitrarily declaring that I need to play rounds on the server before I can start posting on the forum again does not really prove anything - logically speaking, I could spend 6 months behaving myself on the server, then have a tantrum on the forum the moment after you unban me here. I don't intend to do that, I just don't think that the logic here is sound. If you want to see if I behave myself on the forums, I have to be able to show that I can behave myself on the forums. Additionally, there is not a whole lot of appeal to me playing on a server in which I cannot participate in the greater community of. I'm not allowed to discuss rounds anymore after they happen, or make complaints/IRs. I can't apply for a new whitelist. I've been active recently on GitHub, too, but I'm unable to present my PRs to the community at large, because I'm not allowed to create Project/Suggestion threads. This makes things extremely difficult to engage with, to have no access to one part of the whole but be expected to prove myself by tenure on unrelated other pieces too. I wouldn't even be against a probationary period where I can only post personal business stuff, like in regards to feedback on github PRs I have made and doing 'paperwork' threads like Complaints/IRs/Whitelists. I just really need to be able to access the basic amenities of the community forum to be able to even want to be here. Edited May 6, 2020 by Kaed
Faris Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Quote Arbitrarily declaring that I need to play rounds on the server before I can start posting on the forum again does not really prove anything It's a declaration that I'd like to see you interact with the community more. A more thorough breakdown of your activity is that 2020-02-26 21:45:36 was the last time you were active, those 6 connections being from 1st of February to that posted date, despite the search range being from the 1st of February until now. You have been active on the Github, 3 requests up, a request which you closed, all four within the span of 15 days, anything else was you reverting due to being unwilling to maintain a feature or closing a PR, which were for fair reasons, but they are things that I looked up to determine your scope of activity. Activity is a metric which we use as a factor to determine if a player will repeat problematic behavior. Quote logically speaking, I could spend 6 months behaving myself on the server, then have a tantrum on the forum the moment after you unban me here. I don't intend to do that, I just don't think that the logic here is sound. You most certainly could do this, others have, and an escalation of punishment was dealt out. This is usually followed with a stricter punishment and less to no more chances given to them in the future. Quote Additionally, there is not a whole lot of appeal to me playing on a server in which I cannot participate in the greater community of. This is a consequence of actions done. Ultimately, at this time, I don't feel confident enough that you won't repeat the problematic behavior if I do unban you from the forums. The other alternative is to contest this appeal denial, where someone else will look over this.

Is there some separate form for an appeal.. appeal? And why is my status 'Soft-Banned' now? =/ Edited May 6, 2020 by Kaed

But I would assume the reason is that you contacted Alberyk regarding a appeal on the forum on Sunday, so he lifted the forum ban and set the soft-banned role instead to allow you to access the unban requests / appeals section of the forum.
