Naelynn
BYOND Key: NaelynnGame ID: b9t-dvtD / heistPlayer Byond Key/Character name: Summer SnowReason for complaint: Unrealistic Character behavior, valid huntingDid you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? It was ahelped as soon as it happened ~~5 mins before round ended, but no staff took itApproximate Date/Time: ~20 mins before this thread was posted Heist round, gimmick goes badly and crew isn't into it. We resort into a mediocre /ah fuck it, let's just bomb something where no one gets hurt and then have a little scuffle with sec and then bail/ after the gimmick fails to engage anyone. My team gets gunned down [which is fine, we were the bad guys] and I escape, wounded. Then I find out that one of my team survived, so I demand they be returned and in return I will leave without causing trouble. TCFL shows up in force and agrees with sec that they won't give the hostage. Some good RP comes out of it where my antag is shrieking about how command doesn't care about their personnel and would rather kill them over handing over a terrorist. A doctor more or less willingly surrenders to me and I decide to go for something risky since the round is ending. I head the main elevator to surface, Summer Snow following behind me. The elevator happens to have 3 other medical personnel inside AND a wounded patient. At this point, Summer Snow boards the elevator with me, and TCFL blocks the elevator. Thinking they are just being a bit too pushy and need a reminder to be realistic, I shout in character for them to leave the elevator and remind them of the fact that I have highly explosive grenades and combat with me will most likely lead to a lot of civilian causalities. And Medical staff who's in the elevator with me agrees, because DUH. When suddenly I see this shit. Snow decided that getting the valid is more important than any realistic rp. I do not think this is okay, and since the ticket was not taken in round, I am going straight here. Snoopy11
I am right now far too tired to give line by line. My simple response is that if I had ignored the opportunity I had, I would be breaking character as well. You weren't in control as a hostage taker, you had zero awareness of your surroundings and zero ability to control the situation. The blue-suited individual is me, while people were arguing with security. My initial intention was just to stay close, I had my fill of conflict for the round already. I didn't stop you, didn't try to negotiate, I just followed to watch the TCFL deal with you. The meowdy part starts outside of the Brig's eastern doors. I stayed literally on your heels. I could have grabbed the hostage if I felt daring, but I felt that was just a little bit too risky and hell, lets watch the TCFL deal with the crazy cat instead. We get to the elevator, I cram in, then it goes to pot as the detective and warden show up, preventing the elevator. At this point you were distracted. I got behind you. I waited a moment, and then when it was obvious the situation was going down the drain, I used disarm, with force gloves, to hurl you to the floor. Which worked, we got you away from the hostage and a grenade, unused, was dropped. Me being the doofus I am, either picked the grenade up or clicked Avery, as I couldn't disarm you any further. Probably the former, which is why you were able to get away and light another grenade. You were a dangerous person. Who has blown up parts of the station. You've shot me/my character that round. You fired at me and the HoS in the Brig when I was making my way back to it, and then you teleport-ed out. And then I was given a very good opportunity to take you down. It's not as if you can't expect people to take risks, especially given the facts above. If you had them in a grab, used them as a shield, got everyone away from you, that would have altered things; because you would have been in control of your situation and I wouldn't have been out of your line of sight, and literally close enough to breathe on the back of your neck. Flamingo
Hello, I will be handling this complaint. Please give me some time to go over the logs and such. Thanks. Link to comment
Flamingo
Apologies for letting this sit as long as it did. I took a look at both of your testimonies, and reviewed the logs. Unfortunately, logs do not show everything, but I feel I understand enough of what was going on during the round to deliver a verdict. That said, after review, I feel the character Summer Snow did not act in a way that furthered the roleplay in the round. The reasoning that led me to this decision is as follows: Summer Snow decided to disarm Icepaw, who had a grenade in a crowded elevator, under the belief that they (Icepaw) were distracted, and at a disadvantage due to Summer Snow's force gloves. While neutralizing a hostage taker during a hostage situation is sometimes acceptable, in this specific instance, it was done by a single individual acting on their own in order to put an end to the threat. At the time this happened, there were still options that could have furthered roleplay, either for the hostages, hostage-taker, and security through negotiation, or from security stalling as they formulated a plan to better raise the odds of survival for the hostages as they attempted to subdue the hostage-taker. As a result of this complaint, I will be applying a standard warning to the ckey of @Snoopy11 detailing this incident and the results. If there are no further concerns on the matter, I will mark this complaint as resolved and archive the thread in 24 hours. Thank you. Link to comment
