Add non-hostile or PvE gamemodes

I posted this suggestion on another thread, but I was asked to expand further upon:

Basically, while it's possible right now for some antags such as burglar to simply not purchase guns and make a gimmick that brings the crew together for one reason or another, I would like to see an off-station antagonist that doesn't rely on weapons, but rather, on disguises or other items. Now, is it possible with the chameleon kit? Yes. But say, you want to roleplay as a scientist that has found this strange artifact, you could be able to select proper clothes (not chameleon ones) and a gamemode unique artifact for the crew to analyze. Or maybe you want to roleplay as Centcomm, and you definitely have this one item that proves you're not a scam.

Aren't there drop pods, survivors, etc? Yes, but they rely on ghost spawners and will always be seen as the 'side' gimmick of a round, even when in extended. What I propose is a gamemode, or gamemodes, that expand further on that and make it so that everyone will be cooperative with the stranded guy or the visitor or whatever. I am certain we will see things like this on the NBT, ships hailing for help or expeditions that will require the crew to work together, etc. But I think that, while we wait for NBT, we could use some of that here too.

Now, I am also bumping this older thread by Danse, because I want to touch a bit on PvE.

Again, a Greimorian invasion or vines or blob can occur on any round, but a gamemode dedicated to fighting these menaces (and maybe some kind of visitor, not merc per se, that will aid a la bughunt) would be interesting. Maybe some could be player controlled too, and I know we have something similar like this when you spawn as survivors. Seeing that on-station would be pretty cool too.

I do think a hivebot incursion round would be interesting. Where a hivebot base spawns somewhere and the players have to deal with it accordingly. Or maybe just make it so the away site can sometimes leak onto the main station via escape pods or even shuttles.

I am all in for getting expanded events like that, if anyone is willing to code them. Hivebots are cool, so anything that makes them even more dangerous or spawn more frequent/in new ways is nice.

Port TG blob, its player controlled but plays a lot like a PvE game-mode.

/tg/ blob is awful, I think. Something less lethal would work. A threat, but not at that level.

re-balancing it to be less deadly is perfectly viable, the point is that it's a PVE like game-mode while still being player controlled - which there aren't a lot of options like that to choose from short of making something from scratch.

I believe Polaris has something very similar to TG blob. May be worth looking into, though this is all just talk from non-developers AFAIK.
